I rarely leave reviews, but our experience with this ballet school was incredibly disappointing — especially considering they work with young children. When my daughter (in preschool) started attending, but the school didn’t have her uniform size available. She had to wear a different colored ballet outfit for over a month, while all the other girls wore their official pink uniform. Naturally, she felt excluded and uncomfortable, and ballet became a source of stress instead of joy. We finally received the pink uniform — and she was so happy to look like everyone else. But just two weeks later, the school gave every other student a new violet uniform without any notice. Once again, she became the only one wearing something different. When I raised this with a teacher who looked like in charge of school, I was told that if I wanted her to wear the same thing as the others, I could purchase the new uniform again — even though we had just bought the one based on their instructions. No exchange was offered, despite the fact that the pink uniform had only been worn for a short time and is in perfect condition. The school just kept saying no-return policy, which would be understandable had this not been caused by their lack of communication and planning. They didn’t offer any alternatives in order to care for their students— like reselling it as a pre-loved item or using it as a spare for other students — which would’ve shown at least a bit of consideration. We’ve since withdrawn from the school, felt almost forced to withdraw. It’s deeply disappointing that a place working with young children would show so little empathy, flexibility, or transparency. Sadly, they seem more concerned with selling uniforms than supporting their students’ well-being. I’m sharing this review not to complain, but to help other parents make informed decisions — especially those who value clear communication, empathy, and reasonable customer care. One last thing to mention, the young teachers were kind and tried to help.
We have been a part of this ballet school for 3 years from Baby Ballet up to Grade 1.Each year we have seen our daughter grow and progress exponentially. Classes are well structured and with a clear intention of developing a strong base of basic techniques that are further honed as our child progresses. The director of the school, who is a dancer herself, has such a deep passion in sharing her knowledge with the young girls. When she steps in to teach a class you can clearly see her love for all the children. She strikes such a beautiful balance between making class fun for the young ones while still instilling discipline and building character. The teachers that the school hires share the same passion that the director has. Your child will be in good hands in any class. The more senior and older girls are also given the opportunity to assist in teaching the class. They are there to to be an example to the younger children, to show them the right techniques and execution, to be an inspiration to the younger girls. We first enrolled our daughter in ballet just for a fun weekend activity. Never did we expect her to learn the value of discipline, gain confidence in her abilities and have such a strong belief in herself. We will surely be apart of this school for many more years to come.
Having been with this studio since the very start ( almost 7 years ), I’ve grown so much to love dance. The principal of the studio has been very patient and kind in guiding me throughout these 7 years. The other teachers here are also very caring and detailed in their teaching. I enjoy coming to the studio as it brings me so much joy just being here and attending classes. The environment here is also very positive and encouraging. Every class is always filled with fun and laughter and it never fails to make my day despite a hectic school schedule. The variety of classes offered here is also amazing with 3 different genres of dance and a competition training programme. The competition training programme for both ballet and contemporary allowed me to further understand and appreciate dance. I have also improved so much under the watchful eyes of the teachers here. Their Biannual concerts has also allowed me to grow as a performer, I have also grown to love performing and competing on stage as it is always a very fulfilling experience. The friendships formed through the concerts and competitions has also allowed us to power and encourage each other for the whole duration of the performance. Overall this studio had a very lovely and supportive environment with very passionate teachers who only want the best for their students.
I don't usually leave negative reviews for enrichment classes, but I feel urged to share my experience with this studio. I hope no other parents face similar disappointments. I enrolled my two kids in January, trusting the positive reviews on Google. However, I'm extremely DISAPPOINTED. As the number of students grows, communication with the school has become increasingly challenging. WA responses are not always time-effective, with replies varying from the same day to as long as a week later. Plus often lacking clear explanations. Requests for clarification over phone call require multiple follow-ups before the principal finds time to speak. Sharing a few observations: Initially when we started, there was clear glass that you can see through the classroom. I was told because they would like have the transparency with the parents. However, recently, it was replaced with frosted glass. The staircase is narrow. I can't imagine what would happen in the event of an emergency. For those really particular about the teaching quality, I suggest doing some research before you sign up. Last piece of advice: DO READ their T&C carefully before you sign up. I made a huge mistake by blindly choosing this place based on its high Google reviews. Eventually, I no longer felt comfortable continuing to send my kids there, so I decided to pull them out. Despite following the 1-month notice policy, the principal insisted that we purchase the next-level new uniform, which we might only wear 2-3 times, even though we bought the uniform when we signed up 4 months ago. If we do not buy the new uniform, we will be banned from the class. How ironic coming from a supposedly caring team?!
My daughter has been attending ballet and jazz class at Barreworks for close to a year now. We have seen her improve, grown in confidence and more importantly enjoy herself as she begins her dance journey. A small cosy ballet school run by a group of passionate teachers and a very hands on principal, I’m quite certain my girl is in good hands. Disclaimer: I don’t know why it matters, yes the staircase leading up to the studio’s entrance is narrow... But once you make it up there, you’ll enter a rather nice place with very decent folks. : )

Many dance studios in Singapore offer a trial class, sometimes at a reduced fee or included in the first month's payment. A trial is the most reliable way to assess whether the teaching style, class pace, and level of instruction are a good fit for the student. During a trial class, look out for how the instructor manages the group, whether the material is appropriately pitched for the student's current ability, and how engaged the student is by the end of the session. For younger children, observe whether the environment feels structured and encouraging. Contact BarreWorks Dance Studio directly via WhatsApp or the enquiry form to ask whether a trial class is available and what the arrangements are.
Instructor credentials are not listed in the available provider data for BarreWorks Dance Studio. For dance schools, relevant qualifications may include formal dance training, graded examination certifications from bodies such as the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) or the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), as well as years of teaching experience. It is reasonable to ask the studio directly about each instructor's training background, performance or competition experience, and whether they have experience teaching students at the level or age group you are enquiring about. Take the trial class and confirm the instructor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
