I’m truly very grateful to Richard Neo for taking time out of his day off to help my husband’s 88YO auntie Mdm Ong Siew Choo, who has no children, register her wishes for her last rites. He was so patient, gentle, and kind, and took the time to explain everything in a way that made her feel calm and reassured. His care and compassion meant a lot to her, and it gave our family great comfort knowing she was in such good hands. We really appreciate his kindness and the genuine concern he showed. Thank you, Mr Neo, for your big heart and for going the extra mile.

26.1.2024 I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr Richard Neo from Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society for his exceptional support and care in organising the free funeral services for the late Mr Lim's final journey. Mr Lim, an elderly resident in my neighbourhood, had no other next of kin except for his wife in her 90s, who is affected by dementia. I texted Richard at 12:40 am this morning via WhatsApp to inform him of Mr Lim's passing, and he responded promptly at 12:49 am. By 9 am, he was at the nursing home where the late Mr Lim stayed, having already made all the necessary arrangements. Richard's dedication, compassion, care, and professionalism, coupled with a voice that exudes patience and kindness, were truly commendable. He conscientiously attended to every detail, ensuring a dignified and respectful farewell for Mr Lim. Two volunteers from Cheng Hong also came to offer support and pay their respects to the late Mr Lim. My heartfelt thanks to them as well.

I appreciate the overall work and services provided by the organization — they are doing a good job and clearly have a strong mission. However, my experience with one staff member, Rachel was disappointing. She was rude, condescending, and seemed disorganized, which made the interaction unnecessarily frustrating. She seems to talk more than she work. And certain volunteers bring their kids and husband there for photo opportunity. Often arrive late and expect us to make space for them (she has a huge body). While their kid offers little to no help. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the rest of the team appears to be doing well, and it would be great to see consistency in professionalism across all staff and volunteers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Cheng Hong Welfare Services charge?

Cheng Hong Welfare Services has not published its fee schedule publicly, so families will need to contact the centre directly for current pricing. As a general guide, senior daycare in Singapore is typically charged on a daily or monthly basis, with daily rates commonly ranging from S$70 to S$150 depending on the level of care and whether nursing or therapy services are included. Beyond the base rate, confirm whether there are additional charges for public holidays, transport to and from the centre, meals, incontinence supplies, or activity materials. If a live-in or home-visit caregiver component is involved, agency fees and caregiver salary would be separate costs. See the full eldercare cost guide for Singapore →

Live-in or visit-based — which does Cheng Hong Welfare Services offer?

Cheng Hong Welfare Services is listed under senior daycare, which is a centre-based, daytime model — seniors attend during operating hours and return home in the evenings. This differs from live-in arrangements or home-visit nursing care. Daycare typically covers personal care, meals, supervised activities, and basic health monitoring during the day. It can be a practical option for families where a caregiver is present in the evenings but needs daytime support coverage. Confirm the operating hours, whether half-day attendance is available, and whether the centre has a trial or settling-in period before committing to a regular schedule. If live-in or home-based nursing care is needed in addition to or instead of daycare, the centre may be able to point you towards appropriate referrals.

Is the caregiver trained and insured?

No regulatory licences are currently listed for Cheng Hong Welfare Services on KakiList. For eldercare providers in Singapore, centres providing personal or nursing care services are expected to be registered with the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) or the Ministry of Health (MOH), depending on the clinical scope of services offered. Before committing, ask the centre directly about staff qualifications, any dementia-specific training, and the staff-to-senior ratio. Also confirm whether the centre carries insurance coverage for incidents involving attendees during their time on the premises. For families whose elder has complex medical needs, it is advisable to request documentation of staff certifications and to verify registration status with AIC directly. Listing data is incomplete — contact Cheng Hong Welfare Services directly to confirm details.
