This is my repeated visit to the Urology Centre at Singapore General Hospital, and I would like to commend them for their excellent care. My consultant, Dr. Valerie, is an outstanding Urologist. From our conversations and her detailed explanations regarding my symptoms, it is clear that she is highly knowledgeable. She provides straightforward and honest answers, listens attentively to my concerns, and offers sound medical advice. I truly appreciate that she carefully considers the best course of action, ensuring I avoid unnecessary surgeries or scans that may cause undue exposure to radiation. The nurses have also been efficient and supportive in assisting with tests and necessary arrangements. I would like to highlight staff member Veronica, who called me in advance to remind me of a required test before my consultation. When I arrived, she personally approached me and assisted with the process. She was very helpful, friendly, and professional, making the entire experience smooth and reassuring. Overall, I am very grateful for the excellent service and patient-centered care provided by the entire team.
I visited the at doctor and I was being body shamed and told off with a cream however the doctor was very rude and impolite. One African male doctor told me I was fat and I they can’t do a surgery. I understand I am a subsidize patient but I believe all doctors have to treat their patients equally. Managing the patients is the doctors responsibility even if we are the plus size side. DR URO TEAM - JOHN YUEN 3 Don’t do this to others please.
Waited 3.5 hours . Arrived 1.30pm and only managed to see the doc at 5pm. All the staff mentioned need to knock door to find out q status. I know it’s public hospital but to make people sit 3 hours plus is crazy.
About two years ago, I visited the SGH Urology Centre due to a suspected men’s health issue. The wait was long, and while most of the staff were professional, I did have one unpleasant encounter with a nurse who seemed impatient and less than understanding when I had questions. Her tone made things a bit more stressful, and after that, I didn’t look forward to returning. In fact, I missed two appointments. Thankfully, my condition improved on its own, and I experienced no further discomfort. Fast forward to December 2025, I found myself in A&E with severe groin pain and unusual urination symptoms. Further checks revealed an issue with my kidney. The initial approach was to try an ultrasonic blast to break down the stone, but unfortunately, it didn’t work. Surgery was then scheduled, and on 11 June, I underwent the procedure successfully. The first few days after surgery were tough, but thankfully, things improved. Today, I had my stent removed—what a relief! From the time my condition was discovered until today, I am truly grateful for Dr. Valerie Gan and her dedicated team of junior doctors, nurses, admin staff, and surgical crew. Their kindness, patience, and professionalism made a world of difference. They always took the time to explain things clearly and helped me feel calm and reassured throughout the process. I’m also thankful for the high standard of medical care we have in Singapore. Sometimes we Singaporeans can be quick to complain or take things for granted, but this experience has reminded me how important it is to practice gratitude. We are truly fortunate, and taking the time to appreciate those who help us will only make us happier. Thank you again to everyone who cared for me during this journey. 🙏
The 1st appointment with Dr Rene is very pleasant and professional. Subsequent follow up after scans results were not very conducive and professionally done. As it’s a panel group under an associate consultant, the MO you see is different each time. 1. Have to wait for 1.5hours before your appointment time. 2. The MO Chua that saw me is still OJT! He can’t explain clearly what groin operation needs to be done. And told me he will refer me to surgery department. After consultation with his supervisor, he told me it can be done here in urology department and he was surprised! 3. The admin staff manning the registration counter Ms/Mdn Chia is very rude and insolent and appears to be courteous! And she is instructing the Junior staffs. LOL
