Was referred to Dr Low Chian Yong when i was hosiptalised at Mount Alvernia hosiptal for high fever and incessant cough. If u need to pay for a specialist who is arrogant and will thumb u down, then go for this. First 2 days went fairly normal until he ordered a PICC line for me on the third day. PICC? Yes, it stands for Peripheral Inserted Central Catheter. I had to find this out my myself after they wheeled me into the operating theater and all ready to insert a 40cm tube into my body, ending at the main artery of my heart. Nobody told me this until the last minute. So i rejected it as it was too invasive. Throughout the 5 days i had know Dr Low, he always dont like to explain details of whatever he found out and explain why he needs this procedure or medicine. He treats everyone like “little kids”. “I know what is best for you. U just listen and follow”. (But u have to pay for whatvever i ask for, necessary or otherwise !). I escalated a few of his antics to the senior management in Mt Alvernia Hospital and we finally decided to swtich our doctor. I am in my 60s. I have been around, seen many things and met many ppl. Doctors who do not have the basic instinct to respect their patients, let them know what is being done, help calm them down and reassure them, really has no place in this medical industry in the 21st century. Dr Low Chian Yong is a very talented young man. But his lack respect for others, overly-frequent-ego-trips and star-level arrogance, will ultimately give whichever medical profession he represents a very bad name.
I underwent two operations in August, after which I developed a stomach infection. My original team of doctors recommended a third and fourth operation to address the issue. Not wanting to go through so many surgeries, I sought a second opinion from Dr. Low. Dr. Low suggested that stronger antibiotics might resolve the infection, potentially avoiding further operations. His optimism and confidence gave me hope. After discussing it with my husband, we decided to switch to Dr. Low's care. I was on antibiotics for about 2½ months, and I am happy to report that I have now stopped all medications and am doing well. Thanks to Dr. Low, I avoided another operation. His genuine care and dedication to his patients are evident, and I deeply appreciate his approach. I would also like to compliment the nurses at his clinic, Elaine and Atina, who were attentive, kind, and supportive throughout my treatment. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Low and his team to anyone seeking compassionate and skilled medical care.
A Long Overdue Thank You to Dr. Low Chian Yong This post is long overdue, but our gratitude remains as deep as ever. From 2022 to 2023, Dr. Low Chian Yong was not just my daughter’s infectious disease specialist—he was a pillar of strength, reassurance, and comfort during the most difficult time of our lives. Throughout my daughter’s journey, she faced multiple infections, adding to the already overwhelming stress of her condition. But Dr. Low’s calm and composed nature gave us the confidence we desperately needed. Whenever she had an infection, he would always say: "If I’m not worried, you don’t have to worry." Those simple words were incredibly reassuring and gave us peace of mind in moments of fear and uncertainty. Beyond his medical expertise, Dr. Low went the extra mile to cheer my daughter up, knowing everything she had gone through. His kindness, professionalism, and unwavering support made a world of difference—not just in her recovery but in keeping our spirits strong as caregivers. Thank you, Dr. Low Chian Yong. Your care and compassion meant more than words can express, and we will always be grateful for everything you have done for our daughter and our family. 🙏❤️
Has been a patient of Dr Low who I seen him at both Gleneagles and Novena clinic. Dr Low is patient, dedicated and explains treatment plan very concisely. He will also ensure to counsel patient regarding the cost of treatment/medication to be prescribed and offered options as well with recommendation as a knowledgeable specialist ID doctor. Will always recommend Dr Low for ID related type of consult.
Was referred to Dr Low Chian Yong when hospitalised. Never had a doctor with such nasty bedside manner and patronising attitude in the private sector. His recommended treatment was extremely expensive and also subjected me to unnecessarily high doses of strong antibiotics. When I sought second opinion from other medical specialists, they told me that the treatment I went through was very much overkill.
