🟨 I have been to the SSO concerts several times in the past when it was at The Esplanade side. ✅️ Here are some throwback photos over the years. I like going to the orchestra at times and have a solidly great musical experience.

Went to the ‘Box of Chocolates’ symphony yesterday. It’s an hour long super fun for adults and kids alike. Well worth a visit!

Attended the Singapore Symphony Orchestra babies proms today. There was the illusion that children could be themselves and enjoy and move with the music. But it is further from the truth. The photo below is just an example of how my family was treated unfairly by the member of staff. At the start, my son who is under 2 got excited when the music started and wanted to go nearer to the stage to dance and clap. He did not attempt to climb the stage. He... Well danced laughed clapped and walked. A lady by the name of Lee Gek told us to restraint him and try to keep him in our seats. So we tried and all parents know that when you restraint an active boy, you get a tantrum. It's normal and not something you could discipline into a 1+ year old. Then we realised that Lee gek was picking on our family for whatever reason I could not understand as later, when the children warmed up, they did as children do. Danced, clapped and marched. But she chose to stare at our family seemingly ready to pounce and restrain him for being an over enthusiastic toddler. If I knew it was not to be young children friendly, I would not have brought him. It was an embarrassing experience and any form of marketing that marketed it as interactive and allowing children to be up close to the music and enjoy and dance with the music is just a ruse. Apparently being the first child to stand and dance is against it's ground rules but perfectly acceptable when everyone else warms up.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Purple Symphony SG charge?

Purple Symphony SG prices its entertainment services in packages rather than hourly or per-item rates. Singapore market norms for event entertainment vary by scope: DJ or emcee slots typically run S$600–1,500 for a standard event window, live-band or ensemble performances S$1,500–4,000+, and children's entertainers or performers S$500–1,500 for a two-hour party set. The exact package rate will depend on the type of entertainment, event duration, and any travel requirements for non-central venues. Confirm in writing what each package includes — hours of performance, equipment provision, setup time, and any travel surcharge. Ask whether GST is included in the quoted figure, and clarify the deposit amount (typically 30–50% on signing) and when the balance falls due. See the full Entertainment cost guide for Singapore →

How far ahead should I book Purple Symphony SG?

Lead time depends on the nature of your event. For weddings, popular entertainment acts and performers book out 6–12 months ahead, with peak Saturdays in March, April, October, and November filling earliest. For birthday parties and baby celebrations, 6–12 weeks is a reasonable lead time for in-demand performers, though last-minute slots do occasionally open. Confirm whether your preferred date is available before initiating a detailed brief, and note that a deposit is typically required to hold the booking firm. If any portion of the event is outdoors or at a venue with specific access restrictions, discuss wet-weather or contingency arrangements at the enquiry stage.

What does the deposit cover and what is the cancellation policy at Purple Symphony SG?

The Singapore events industry standard is a 30–50% deposit on signing to secure the date and begin any planning or preparation work. The balance is typically due one to two weeks before the event. Confirm in writing what the deposit covers, whether it is refundable on cancellation or only transferable to a future date, and under what conditions a reschedule is permitted without forfeiture — for instance, if a public-health restriction or venue cancellation forces a change. Also ask about public liability insurance, particularly if the performance or setup takes place at an HDB void deck, condo function room, or hotel venue that may require a copy of the insurance certificate. Put all terms — deliverables, schedule, rescheduling clause, and insurance — in a written contract before paying.
