Coach Mel is extremely experienced and helpful when pointing out improvements in technique. Regardless of your skill level, he ensures you are constantly growing and refining your technique in every training session. The environment is one of the biggest highlights for me. It’s a very happy, kind, and supportive atmosphere with good vibes all around. The people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the high-intensity exercise much more enjoyable. It really feels like a community where everyone is rooting for your success. Rebel also has a choice of classes that connect very well with each other. I’m able to work on my striking in Muay Thai and boxing, and then transition into a strength and conditioning session to build the power needed to support those skills. It’s been two months since I’ve started Personal Training with Coach Mel at Rebel Muay Thai. He’s very versatile and understandable of each fighters and can teach multiple styles of striking. Ranging from boxing heavy Muay Thai (Muay Mat) all the way to sharp toning of all types of strikes (Muay Bouk). When I started off , I was struggling with cardio and was restricted to a very defensive orthodox stance. Coach Mel was very patient with me, slowly improving my cardio while at the same time helping me being flexible with both Orthodox & Southpaw. Kickboxing hasn’t been more fun for me while at the same time combined with fun conversations of spiritualism and mental conditioning from Coach Mel. The gym is well maintained with a lot of space to move around with a convenient location in the heart of Holland Village, very close to and easily accessible via the Holland Village MRT.

I first started muay thai training with Coach Mel when he was coaching NTU Muay Thai in July 2024. At first, he looked like an old school gangster that takes absolutely no nonsense. But after knowing him for a while, he's really a fun-loving coach that makes training fun with silly jokes and dance moves. But more importantly, the training. I've tried 4 different muay thai gyms in Singapore but Coach Mel stands out. His ability to point out nuances and immediately correct helps learning fast due to the short feedback cycle. He also quickly gauges everyone's abilities accurately and tailors training through appropriate intensity and partner pairings. His attention to detail can also be seen through other small things like the quality of pads he chooses and how he remembers everyone's name even if you're only there for a trial. The gym also has a very welcoming community with members always willing to help each other improve. With a focus on having everyone able to hold pads for each other, it's a highly interactive class. In fact, in my first few lessons, I was quite overwhelmed because I was learning too much at once. Overall, really wholesome and fun Muay Thai training gym. Have recommended several friends here too!

I first trained under NTU Muay Thai, which was led by the head coach from Rebel Gym, and I really liked his coaching style. Because of that, I decided to continue my journey here at Rebel, and it has been a great experience. The coach is friendly, patient, and very encouraging. He pays close attention to everyone’s individual level and adjusts the techniques during padwork or freestyle sessions so you’re always learning at the right pace while still being pushed to improve. Besides Muay Thai, the gym also offers boxing classes as well as strength and conditioning sessions, which really help build overall fitness and technique. The location is very convenient too, just a short walk from the MRT. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Everyone at the gym is helpful and supportive, and people are always willing to offer guidance or help correct techniques when you ask questions. Overall, I’ve had a really enjoyable time training here, and I’ve even recommended two of my beginner friends to join.
