there is a sheltered walkway around SGH, refer to map for buildings and blocks. There are signs to mrt and taxi stand. Need around 10mins to walk between blocks

The attitude of the emergency staff was extremely poor! I just wanted to inform them that my mother was going to the restroom, but a man wearing glasses warned me that this was the last warning! I honestly don’t know what rule I supposedly violated. I sincerely hope that we can be treated with respect! Please improve the professionalism and quality of the staff!

We arrived at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) around 2+ pm, and it’s now almost midnight—we’re still trapped here waiting with no end in sight. My wife suddenly experienced severe blurry vision and sharp pain in her right eye. We waited about 3 hours before seeing the first doctor for an initial eye assessment, only to be immediately referred to a specialist, which meant another roughly 2-hour delay. All this time, she has been extremely dizzy (giddy) and has vomited at least 10 times. The specialist then sent her right back to the original doctor to address the giddiness specifically. After yet another 1–2 hour wait, they finally administered an injection for the dizziness. Now, post-injection, we’re back to waiting to see the doctor again—already over 2 hours and still counting. We haven’t eaten or drunk anything since 2 pm. The entire process has been utterly exhausting, chaotic, and poorly coordinated. We’re left sitting here for hour after hour with zero meaningful updates or sense of progress. It’s bad enough being extremely worried and anxious about my wife’s serious symptoms, but enduring this prolonged, torturous wait in the hospital has pushed the whole experience into nightmare territory. This level of disorganization and delay is unacceptable—especially for someone in clear distress.

My mother has been in the new A&E observation area since 9 Feb noon. It’s now almost 6 pm on 10 Feb and she still hasn’t been allocated a bed. 30 hours and still waiting. I understand from my mother that the observation area is very noisy due to the presence of family members. As per SGH rules, family members are not allowed in the observation area. My mother was re- admitted to A&E at SGH and has been waiting for a ward bed for over 24 hours. The hospital is unable to provide an estimated update on bed availability across the different ward classes. As a result, we are unsure whether we should continue waiting in the current queue or consider upgrading to another ward class, which may involve an even longer wait. I sincerely hope SGH would improve on the admission process.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Mavis Tan and Reeve Chan from Blk 2 Level 1 at Singapore General Hospital. I recently underwent an MRI scan without sedation — something I had never been able to do during my previous MRI experiences. This achievement would not have been possible without their exceptional care and support. Both Mavis and Reeve took great measures to ensure I felt safe, reassured, and completely comfortable throughout the entire process. They patiently explained every step, checked in on me regularly, and provided constant encouragement. Their calm demeanor, professionalism, and genuine empathy significantly eased my anxiety. What truly stood out was how they went beyond their usual responsibilities — dedicating extra time and attention to ensure I was coping well and felt confident enough to complete the scan successfully without sedation. Their kindness, dedication, and commitment to patient-centered care reflect the highest standards of service excellence. Please extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to both of them.
