About Tim Gan Math
Tim Gan Math is a private mathematics tuition provider operating islandwide from its centre at King's Arcade on Bukit Timah Road. The service is KakiList verified and ACRA registered, and holds a perfect 5-star rating across 40 Google reviews — a moderate sample size that warrants some caution but points in a consistently positive direction.
Parents and students considering Tim Gan Math should begin by enquiring about level and syllabus fit — whether that is Primary, Secondary, or Junior College mathematics under the MOE curriculum. It is worth asking about available formats, including one-to-one sessions versus small group classes, as well as whether lessons are conducted in-person at the Bukit Timah Road centre or online. Clarify term commitment expectations upfront, including whether a trial class is available before signing up for a longer package, and check whether any materials fees apply.
To take the next step, reach out to Tim Gan Math via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to confirm current availability for your child's level, ask about a trial session, and discuss scheduling options.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
I jumped 4 grades from prelims to A levels and I wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for Mr Gan. Throughout my journey, he has been very patient with me, answering all my questions even outside of class (even the not so intelligent ones), and never fails to encourage me whenever I doubted myself. Lessons are always conducted in a light hearted, but conducive environment, with each question being broken down step by step so that it’s easier for us to digest. The notes and question bank provided by the centre are also extremely helpful for us to consolidate our learning, giving us even more resources outside of school to practice. I sincerely recommend TimGan Math to anyone who is looking for math tuition and wants a caring, accommodating and fun teacher! Thank you Mr Gan🤩
Mr Gan is a very friendly and patient teacher. Whenever I needed help, he would never fail to lend a helping hand and guide me step by step when I got stuck at questions. He is also very dedicated, having easily accessible video recordings for us to refer to anytime we need them. These have been helpful for me when I needed a recap of some of the concepts taught. He never fails to keep lessons engaging, breaking down information into bite-size pieces so that we understand the concepts taught better. Thank you Mr Gan!
After spending a few months in tim gan maths tuition centre, I had a really positive experience. Mr chen is very patient, knowledgeable and always willing to clarify my doubts. The centre is also very flexible and accommodating, which I really appreciate. The atmosphere is friendly and approachable, so I felt comfortable asking questions freely without hesitation. I also found the student portal very helpful. I could ask questions online and access detailed solutions and step-by-step explanation videos that explained problems in depth. It was very helpful in my last stretch before my A levels!
I went to Mr Gan's tuition after my math grades started stagnating at B. I initially felt it wasn't very worth it, but I disagree in hindsight. Without studying under Mr Gan, I don't think I would have striven for excellence. I was even told that despite having a grasp of concepts, a lack of practice and familiarity would give me a C in A Levels. So I endeavored to change that and eventually, I got myself an A! Thank you for the inspiration, Mr Gan. And to anyone reading this review, do come here if you wish to strive for excellence as well.
Over 2 years, I was tutored by Mr Chen for the IB math AA SL course. Mr Chen is a patient, kind, and funny math tutor who was able to break down concepts I had trouble wrapping my head around in an easy and engaging manner. He was also able to pinpoint my weaknesses in the syllabus and work together with me on them in an efficient manner. Additonally, he would help me with problem sets I sent to him outside of class time on whatsapp out of his own time, which was so useful when I faced challenges outside of class. It's not often one looks forward to tuition, but Mr Chen made a subject I found intensely annoying and difficult bearable, even fun. I would highly recommend Mr Chen as a math tutor in every aspect of the job!

Tim Gan Math displays a mid-range price indicator, though specific per-session rates are not published on the listing. Tuition providers in Singapore typically structure fees as a per-session rate, a monthly package based on a fixed number of sessions, or a termly commitment. It is common for a trial class to be offered at a reduced rate or at the standard session fee before you commit to a package. Ask whether there are additional costs for printed materials or practice papers, and whether sibling discounts or multi-subject packages apply. Confirm the payment schedule — most providers bill monthly or per term — and clarify the policy if a session needs to be rescheduled. See the full Private Tutors cost guide for Singapore →
It is reasonable to ask Tim Gan Math whether a trial class is available before signing up for a term or package. A trial session allows both the student and parent to assess whether the teaching pace, explanation style, and level of challenge are a good match. During a trial, pay attention to how the tutor breaks down problem-solving steps, whether the student is engaged, and whether the material aligns with the school syllabus currently being taught. For mathematics in particular, a mismatch in approach between school and tuition can sometimes cause confusion, so confirming syllabus alignment — MOE, IB, IGCSE, or other — is worth raising at this stage. Contact Tim Gan Math directly via WhatsApp or phone to ask about trial class availability and any associated fee.
The listing does not specify the academic background or teaching credentials of the tutors at Tim Gan Math. When enquiring, it is worth asking directly about qualifications — for example, whether tutors hold a relevant degree in mathematics or a related discipline, whether any have NIE training or prior MOE teaching experience, and how many years they have been teaching the specific levels or syllabuses your child requires. For mathematics tuition, syllabus alignment is particularly important. Confirm whether the tutor is familiar with the current MOE mathematics syllabus at your child's level, and ask how lesson content is updated when the MOE revises its curriculum. Reach out via WhatsApp, phone, or the online form to ask these questions before committing to a package.
