Enquiries typically begin with the event date, venue, and occasion — whether a wedding solemnisation, banquet dinner, corporate event, birthday celebration, or private function. From there, discussion moves to repertoire preferences (classical, jazz standards, pop, bespoke requests), performance duration, number of sets, and whether a venue piano is available or a digital keyboard needs to be arranged. For wedding clients, it is worth confirming whether the pianist can accommodate the processional, signing, and recessional cues, as well as any dialect-group or cultural music preferences. Lead time of six to twelve months is advisable for popular wedding dates, particularly peak Saturdays in March, April, October, and November. A deposit on signing — typically thirty to fifty per cent — secures the date, with the balance settled one to two weeks before the event. Travel charges for non-central venues and any public holiday surcharges should be clarified upfront.
To take the next step, reach out to Toby Tan Pianist via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form with your event date, venue, occasion type, and approximate duration, and request a written package quote with the deposit and balance schedule.
Lock in the date with a written contract and deposit, confirm the public liability insurance and any HDB / condo / hotel venue paperwork, and put the deliverables, balance schedule, and rescheduling policy in writing.
After a disappointing experience with the chain piano studio, I turned to Happy Pianist to find a private teacher for my girl and the experience with Mark was just wonderful. After sending Mark our time slot and location preferences, he was able to provide us an ample list of teacher options that fits all our requirements in just a few days, with all the teachers qualifications and experience listed for our consideration. Mark is also super helpful in setting with trial class with the teacher! The teacher we eventually decided on is also way more professional and committed than what we had in the chain studio! My girl has been with her new piano teacher for almost 5 months now, not just her skill and enthusiasm improved a lot over the last few months, there’s also much more personal touch on communication and scheduling I can have with her new piano teacher. Will definitely recommend Happy Pianist to anyone who is looking for piano teacher but don’t know whether to start with! Thanks a lot Mark!!
I’m so grateful to have chanced upon Mark the pianist while searching for a home-based piano tutor for my 4-year-old daughter. As parents with no musical background, my husband and I were unsure where to start—but Mark kindly recommended several excellent tutors. We chose Ms. Violet Ang, who came highly praised for her patience with young children. Her sincere dedication and gentle guidance have sparked my daughter’s interest in piano, and she now genuinely enjoys her lessons!
Mark patiently recommended the teachers on his list. We found Ms Goh and excellent teacher. Highly recommended to get Mark’s suggestions if you are looking for a good piano teacher for your kids. . Communication from the start to the finish was excellent too.
The Happy Pianist was quick to help find a suitable Teacher very fast. Teacher Violet is very friendly, patience and very supporting on my child progression. I would definitely recommend Happy Pianist and Teacher Violet to everyone!
My girl have been with Teacher Violet ( via Happy Pianist ) since April 2025, she always look forward to her lesson because Teacher Violet always prioritize my girl's mood and pace every class. ( Ensure she understands the theory and rythem before moving on) She is nuturing and always follows up closely with the parents after every class. It's amazing how she bonded with my girl through music and encouraged her with litte stickers. She also listen and respect my girl ideas. Example: She will ask if she can learn certain song and Teacher Violet will make effort to bring the score and guide her. Very spontaneous and motivating.

Toby Tan Pianist uses a package pricing model, indicated at a mid-range level, but specific package rates are not publicly listed and will vary depending on performance duration, number of sets, occasion type, and venue location. Singapore market norms for live entertainment at events: solo pianist or instrumentalist packages typically run S$600–2,500+ for a standard event slot of two to three hours, with higher rates for full-day wedding coverage or bespoke arrangements. Itemise the following when requesting a quote: deposit amount and payment schedule, balance due date, travel charge for non-central or Pasir Ris-adjacent venues, surcharges for public holidays or after-hours finishes, and whether equipment such as a digital keyboard or PA system is included or sourced separately. GST should also be confirmed if the provider is GST-registered. See the full Entertainment cost guide for Singapore →
For weddings and major banquets, six to twelve months ahead is the standard lead time — peak Saturdays in March, April, October, and November fill earliest, and a highly-rated solo performer with 162 reviews is likely in demand well in advance. For corporate events, private dinners, and birthday celebrations, six to twelve weeks is typically sufficient, though earlier is always safer if the date is fixed. Once the date is agreed, a written contract and deposit — typically thirty to fifty per cent on signing — formally secures the booking. Confirm the rescheduling and cancellation policy at the time of deposit, as event dates can shift due to venue changes or unforeseen circumstances. If any portion of the performance is outdoors, discuss a wet-weather contingency arrangement as well.
Singapore industry standard for live entertainment bookings is a thirty to fifty per cent deposit on signing, with the balance typically due one to two weeks before the event. The deposit generally covers the date hold and any pre-event preparation such as custom repertoire curation or venue liaison — confirm the scope in writing before transferring any funds. Deposits for live entertainment are typically non-refundable on cancellation but may be transferable to a rescheduled date, subject to the performer's availability. Confirm the rescheduling window and any fee for a date change. Also ask whether public liability insurance is held, particularly if the performance is at an HDB void deck, condo function room, or hotel venue where the venue management may request a copy of the certificate.
