About Tutor City
Tutor City is a private tutoring agency operating islandwide across Singapore. It is KakiList-verified and ACRA-registered, and holds a Google rating of 4.9 out of 5 from 661 reviews — a robust sample that provides a meaningful signal of consistent service quality. The agency connects families with private tutors across a range of academic levels and subjects, and can be reached via WhatsApp, phone, or an online enquiry form.
When approaching Tutor City, families typically begin by enquiring about level and syllabus fit — whether the child is following the MOE mainstream curriculum, an international programme such as IB or IGCSE, or sitting for a specific national examination. It is worth clarifying upfront whether you are seeking one-to-one home tuition or a small group arrangement, and whether sessions will be conducted in person or online. Term commitment expectations and any trial class options should also be confirmed before engaging, as policies vary by tutor.
To get started, reach out to Tutor City via WhatsApp or phone to describe your child's level, subject needs, and preferred schedule. The agency will then work to match you with a suitable tutor.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.

Tutor City operates as a matching agency, so fees depend on the tutor's qualifications, the subject, and the academic level. As a general market reference in Singapore, private tuition rates range from around S$25–S$50 per hour for part-time tutors at primary level, rising to S$80–S$150 or more per hour for MOE-trained or degree-holding tutors at secondary and junior college levels. Some tutors charge by the month rather than per session, and discounts may be available for multiple subjects or siblings. Ask whether there is a trial class and what it costs, and confirm whether any materials fees apply separately. See the full private tutors cost guide for Singapore →
Trial class availability depends on the individual tutor matched to your child. When enquiring, ask Tutor City explicitly whether a trial session can be arranged before you commit to a term or ongoing schedule. During the trial, observe whether the tutor pitches the content at the right level, keeps the child engaged, and adapts their approach to your child's learning style. A good trial should also give you a sense of whether the tutor is familiar with the specific syllabus — MOE, IB, IGCSE, or otherwise — your child is following. If the first match does not feel right, ask the agency whether they can suggest an alternative tutor before making a longer-term commitment.
Tutor City's agency model means tutor backgrounds vary across their panel. Credentials to ask about include whether the tutor holds an NIE qualification or has prior MOE teaching experience, their university degree and subject specialisation, the number of years they have been tutoring, and their familiarity with the relevant syllabus and examination format. Specific credential information for individual tutors is not publicly listed in this directory, so it is advisable to request a tutor profile directly from the agency before confirming a match. Ask for evidence of qualifications rather than taking them on assurance alone, particularly for high-stakes subjects at secondary or junior college level.
