Moving to Singapore is stressful enough — new job, new home, new school for the kids, and a completely different healthcare system to figure out. If you or a family member needs to see a psychiatrist in Singapore, you're already dealing with something difficult. The last thing you need is a provider who wastes your time, your money, or worse, your trust.

Singapore actually has excellent psychiatric care — from the government-run Institute of Mental Health (IMH) to well-regarded private clinics clustered around Novena, Camden Medical Centre, and Mount Elizabeth. 1. No Verifiable SMC Registration

Every legitimate psychiatrist in Singapore must be registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and hold specialist accreditation from the Specialist Accreditation Board. If a clinic's website doesn't list the doctor's full name and SMC registration number, or if the receptionist gets vague when you ask, that's a serious red flag.
