Parents and adult learners enquiring about lessons would typically begin by asking about level and syllabus fit — whether the school teaches beginner through to diploma grades, which examination boards are supported (such as ABRSM, Trinity, or LCM), and whether tuition is offered one-to-one or in small groups. It is worth clarifying which instruments are available, the frequency and duration of lessons, whether there is a term commitment or flexible monthly arrangement, and whether lessons are conducted at the Seah Street studio or at the student's home.
To take the next step, reach out to Alternate Tone Music School via WhatsApp, phone, or their enquiry form to ask about a trial class, confirm instrument and level availability, and check current timetable slots before committing to a term.

I am very glad I have found a good jazz instructor Hans Charis. I am into my second lesson and he has already taught me some foundation of jazz music language allowing me to create and play simple improvised jazz music! He truly has deep knowledge of jazz language not just any classical music coach who try to teach jazz piano. I strongly recommend anyone who wants to learn jazz to go under instructor Hans Charis.
Great place for music lessons. My 10yr old son has been going here a month or so for guitar lessons and he has come on a long way in that time. His teacher has been very conscientious, carefully picking out songs that my son knows but that also teach the key skills and used those in the lessons. The pace has been good too, not sticking on any song too long and keeping it interesting. I’ve been really impressed!
Accessible and easy to get to this place, it's just opposite bras bash complex. Love the environment there and It's definitely a great place to learn music as lessons are catered to you and teachers are passionate in teaching. (:
Great packages available for different levels. Teachers are patient and well-skilled too!
I contacted this center for a trial guitar class and managed to schedule 1 with them at 6.15pm on Wednesday. I filled in the google form as they asked for a few days before the class to let them know about my requirements and goals to learn. On the class day 3 pm, they messaged me and asked to fill in the form again. I told them I already filled in. Then they just realised it as they did not check. To make it worse, at around 4pm on the same day I tested positive for Covid. I msg them to cancel the class. Out of my surprise, they asked me for the ART test photo for evidence. I was sick, coughing and angry. Who are they to ask me for this evidence? Is it so stupid of them to ask for that from a potential customer ? Anyway, I did not pay anything for the class (they asked me when I come I can pay at the counter), so if I want I can cancel it anytime. Why did I even need to lie? Really offensive and not-so-smart request from an inexperience customer service staff. I decided to discontinue with this center for any guitar lesson in the future. They ruined my day.

Many music schools in Singapore offer a trial lesson — either free or at a nominal fee — before you commit to a term or monthly package. A trial is a good opportunity to assess whether the teaching style suits the student's learning pace, whether the level is appropriately pitched, and whether the student feels comfortable with the instructor. For younger children especially, a first lesson can reveal a great deal about engagement and fit that no amount of research can substitute. Ask specifically whether the trial lesson is with the teacher who will be taking ongoing lessons, as consistency matters in music education. Contact Alternate Tone Music School via WhatsApp, phone, or their enquiry form to confirm their trial class policy and any applicable fee before booking.
Specific tutor credentials for Alternate Tone Music School are not publicly listed in the available data. When evaluating a music school, it is worth asking whether teachers hold a music degree or diploma (for example, from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, LASALLE, or an overseas conservatoire), whether they are accredited examiners or have prior examination board teaching experience, and how many years they have been teaching. For students preparing for ABRSM, Trinity, or similar examinations, ask specifically whether the teacher is experienced with the relevant syllabus and current repertoire requirements. Contact Alternate Tone Music School directly to ask about individual teacher backgrounds and to confirm alignment with your instrument and examination goals.
