My daughter attended this school for a few years. During that time, she was deeply traumatized and nearly quit ballet altogether. The teacher who instructed her was extremely harsh and frequently berated her for not acquiring the skills quickly enough. One particular upsetting incident which I only learned about late last year, involved the teacher recording a video of my daughter dancing her variation and showing it to another ballet teacher. In front of my daughter, the colleague commented, " oh my gosh, so horrible." This had a lasting emotional impact on her. As a parent, I was asked to sit in on a private lesson(which we paid for) so that I could learn the choreography and ballet techniques in order to supervise her practice at home. I have no ballet background, and being expected to learn terminology and proper techniques was confusing and burdensome. At the time, I complied in order to support my child, but it did not feel appropriate or constructive. We decided to change school then and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made. My daughter has been at her current school for a few years now. The current instructor is much more professional and is great in his teaching methods; my daughter has rediscovered her love for ballet, is happy and has made tremendous progress!
Signed up trial to try 1st time ballet lesson during end of Dec 2025. Decided to sign up 12 lessons for beginner during 1st week of Jan 2026. We were taught by teacher Dawn. She is a very patient and responsible teacher and love her teaching so I go for 2 times a week so as practice make perfect. She will seriously check one by one to correct their posture I'm really appreciate her great attention and attitude!
We have the pleasure of studying in this studio for more than 5 years and I can say with confidence that this is one of the best choreographic schools in Singapore! Everything in harmony is harmonious - a team of teachers, their qualifications, a training system and career growth! We also have a very friendly team of parents who are always ready to help if you need it! Our teachers are the best teachers, they not only understand their students - they also feel them, and therefore have very close contact with each of them. If you still do not know which dance school to choose for your child, I tell you to come to the CBA!
I don't even want to put a star. HORRIBLE experience. Teacher just sat there on the bench pointing fingers at me and most of the dancers. Very biased too . Hate that the teacher had to call my parents about me not understanding her 'Chinese accent requirements', and even wanted my parents to TEACH me instead of her. RIDICULOUS!!! So, if you are thinking of signing up tp this City Ballet Academy, I advise you to think twice.
It's a nice place n have 2 big studios with changing rooms as well....I like it very much as well....as its spacious that enough for about 8 students for adults especially....the ballet instructors here are good n detailed as well....due to my work , I rarely come for classes in the end though I planned to come regular if I can.....City Ballet Academy is my 3rd choice to learn ballet always....

City Ballet Academy displays a mid-range ($$) price indicator, though specific per-session or monthly package fees are not published on this listing. Dance schools in Singapore typically charge S$25–60 per group session or S$80–150 for one-to-one instruction, with fees often structured as monthly or per-term packages rather than drop-in rates. Some academies charge a separate registration or enrolment fee at the start of each academic year, and there may be costs for exam entry, costume hire, or recital participation depending on the programme. A trial class, if available, may be priced separately or counted as part of the first month's fee. Sibling discounts or multi-class bundles are worth asking about. Contact City Ballet Academy directly to confirm current pricing before committing. See the full Dance Schools cost guide for Singapore →
Many dance academies in Singapore offer a trial class for prospective students, either at a nominal fee or credited towards the first month if you proceed. A trial is a useful way to gauge whether the teaching style, pace, and class atmosphere suit the student — particularly for younger children where engagement and comfort with the instructor matter as much as technical content. During a trial, look out for how the teacher manages the class, whether the level matches the student's current ability, and how feedback is given. For children, observe whether they leave the class eager to return. For adult beginners, check that the pace is accessible without being too slow. Contact City Ballet Academy via WhatsApp, phone, or form to ask about their trial class policy and availability.
Instructor qualifications at dance schools can vary widely. In Singapore, credentialled ballet teachers typically hold teaching certificates from bodies such as the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Cecchetti Society, or Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), alongside performance or higher education backgrounds in dance. Some instructors may also hold degrees from conservatories or universities with dance programmes. This listing does not include details of City Ballet Academy's instructors' qualifications. It is advisable to ask directly about the lead instructor's certifications, years of teaching experience, and the syllabus framework used — particularly if you are preparing a student for graded examinations. Contact City Ballet Academy directly to ask about instructor credentials and the syllabus followed for your child's age group or level.
