Insist on a trial period and put the care plan, hours, and rate in writing.
Exceptional & professional service by Edwin & his crew. Everything was planned meticulously, while they served with utmost respect. On the wee hours when my grandma passed, Edwin made his way down within a short while and everything from there was very smooth sailing - from wake set up till departure day. For every enquiry and clarifications, Edwin & his team were very patient and provided us with clarity and made sure that we were comfortable before making any arrangements. Prices are justifiable, would recommend them for any of such occasions.
On behalf of my family, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Victor Wu and his team at Direct Funeral Services for their support throughout the entire funeral wake for my late father. They addressed every of our concerns and Victor even specially arranged his female crew to take care of my mom in the crematorium viewing hall in case anything happens and really appreciate warm move. I really don't know how to thank you guys.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Roy Loo for his dedication and service throughout my late grandmother’s wake. Although he was called in at the last minute to assist us, his calm, reassuring and helpful presence helped ease many of our anxieties during this difficult time. Roy was always very responsive and only a message or phone call away. At times we asked questions that might have seemed repetitive or things he had already explained earlier, but he always responded patiently and took the time to address all our concerns. He was also very respectful of our decisions, always offering options and accommodating our preferences. During his briefings and conversations with us, he would occasionally add a touch of humour, which helped lighten the atmosphere. Even in moments when we had just been crying, he somehow managed to make us smile or laugh. We are truly grateful that Roy was the funeral director in charge of my grandmother’s wake, and we deeply appreciate the care and support he provided to our family. Also adding a special mention to Arissa who assisted my family with the preparation. We reached out to her very early but due to the circumstances, the wake only took place much later. Arissa was very helpful and patient in addressing all our concerns regarding the procedures and packages. We really appreciate her great service too!

He handled everything with professionalism, care and empathy, making sure the arrangements went smoothly and that our family felt supported. We truly appreciate the dedication and kindness shown to us during this period. Thank you for helping us give my dad a respectful and meaningful send-off.

Direct Funeral Services has not published specific package prices publicly, and funeral costs vary considerably depending on the religious or cultural tradition, wake duration, venue, casket tier, and whether cremation or burial is chosen. As a general guide, Singapore funeral packages range from around S$3,000–5,000 for simpler arrangements to S$10,000–20,000 or more for full multi-day wakes with premium caskets and catering. Key line items to confirm in writing include: casket or urn selection, hearse and vehicle charges, wake venue rental (void deck permits, parlour fees), floral and tentage arrangements, cremation or burial fees (NEA crematorium or Mandai Crematorium rates, or Christian/Catholic burial at Choa Chu Kang Cemetery), death certificate and permit processing, and any religious officiant or embalming costs. Ask explicitly what is included in any quoted package and what is charged separately to avoid unexpected additions. See the full funeral services cost guide for Singapore →
Direct Funeral Services operates islandwide and is well-reviewed across a broad range of cultural and religious traditions common in Singapore, including Buddhist, Taoist, Christian, Catholic, freethinker, and Hindu funeral rites. Families should confirm at enquiry whether the team has specific experience with their preferred tradition, particularly for less common rites or bilingual ceremonies. Services typically cover the full scope from collection of the deceased, preparation and dressing, wake setup (void deck, home, or funeral parlour), officiating coordination, hearse, and cremation or burial arrangements, through to post-funeral services such as ash collection and columbarium placement. Confirm the scope in writing and clarify whether a dedicated point-of-contact is assigned throughout the process, which matters significantly for families managing logistics under time pressure. For multi-day wakes or families with specific cultural requirements, raise these clearly at the first enquiry so the team can confirm capacity and arrange the appropriate officiant or ritual specialists.
Funeral arrangements in Singapore are time-sensitive — the death must be certified, a burial or cremation permit obtained from the National Environment Agency (NEA), and collection of the deceased arranged, typically within 24–48 hours of passing. Families should contact Direct Funeral Services via WhatsApp or phone as soon as possible after the death is certified, rather than waiting until all decisions are made. For enquiries, have the following ready: location of the deceased (hospital, hospice, or home), time and cause of death as stated on the death certificate, religious tradition, and an initial preference on wake venue and duration. This allows the team to advise on permit timelines, venue availability, and logistics without delay. Out-of-hours availability and response times are not specified on the listing — confirm when first contacting the team whether 24-hour assistance is available, as this is a standard expectation in the Singapore funeral industry.
