Overall a very pleasant experience with Dr. Khoo. He was very professional and confident of his skills. He was also very accomodating when it came to rescheduling of the surgery date and drafting letters for the insurance company. I went for my bunion surgery for both feet on the morning of the 15th of September and was able to walk by evening. Surgery itself went very smoothly. Was initially quite nervous about the surgery as it was my first time and the theatre was very cold. But the nurses were great and the anaesthetician working with him was very positive, cheerful and reassuring and the moment I awoke, surgery was already completed successfully. Post-surgery care and food at Mt. Elizabeth was also fantastic. First two weeks were the worst as movement was the most painful then. I had to take care not to let my feet touch water and wore a plastic protector provided by the clinic whenever I showered. After the first two weeks, the bandages and stitches were removed and you'd be able to see the scars and bruises from the surgery. The clinic gave me a series of creams to apply for the bruising, scars and dryness. I had to also constantly wear these black, bulky sandals everywhere I went, even indoors, for the first 6 weeks. Only after the 6th week review was I allowed to wear normal footwear. There was still some swelling and my toes were very stiff from the lack of mobility. The scars also felt very sensitive but these got better over time. By the 3rd month, the swelling has totally subsided for me and I've regained almost all my mobility except for the flexibility and strength in my big toes. Balance is almost back to normal and, through the x-ray, Dr. Khoo said the bones are healing well. Very pleased with the results and very glad I went to Dr. Khoo as he is super experienced and his confidence and calmness is really very reassuring. Service from the staff was also generally very good and any concerns were mostly quickly addressed. Points to note though, initially when I called the clinic, the receptionist who answered seemed very unsure about the insurance coverage and sounded quite dismissive. Gave me a feeling of "Don't like just go to another doctor lor". Also, there was some issues with the insurance admin when I went to pre-register the day before. It caused me some anxiety. This was even though the surgery was some 2 months after my initial consult. But generally, in person, the nurses/receptionists were very friendly, professional and helpful. So probably the clinic might need to either brush on on its admin or train new/part-time staff more thoroughly. Aside from these, overall, a great experience with The Bone and Joint Clinic!
Dr Kevin Koo at The Bone & Joint Centre has been integral in my recovery this year. Not only has Dr Kevin been very careful, meticulous, patient, and friendly, he has been very upfront about the treatment plan, surgery, risks, recovery, and financial cost for the many months of medical checks and reviews. During the surgery, he was very encouraging to give a sense of hope and ease that all would be well. The end result was a classic masterpiece, and the recovery was quick and smooth. The nurses at the clinic are also very professional about their care and follow up. They helped to bandage my wounds multiple times and remove stitches with ease. There was even a personal visit on the morning after the surgery. All in all, I had a very pleasant experience at The Bone & Joint Centre and would definitely recommend this place for those who are in need to check, treat or get a follow up for their bone and joint issues.
Dr Kevin is patient and has a wonderful bedside manner. He took the time to understand my condition, lifestyle and preferences for treatment before giving me his recommendations. I had surgery under him for my ankle and made a full recovery. His clinic staff are professional, efficient and polite. However, waiting times can be long so I would suggest coming for appointments on time with some buffer and being mentally prepared to wait. The clinic works fast (be kind to them!) but some consultations can extend as Dr Kevin does take the time to fully understand his patients before helping them understand their options. Slightly higher on price point but 100% quality so definitely recommended if you need orthopedic advice.
Dr Koo is an extremely professional and dedicated doctor. I underwent a successful knee surgery under his care, and from the very first consultation to the post-operative follow-ups, the entire experience was smooth and reassuring. He took the time to explain the procedure clearly, addressed all my concerns patiently, and provided thorough, practical advice throughout my recovery. The follow-ups were detailed and attentive, which gave me great confidence in the healing process. The clinic staff are also warm, helpful, and friendly, making every visit pleasant and well-organised. I am truly grateful for the excellent care and would highly recommend Dr Koo to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate orthopaedic specialist.
