Families considering Firstpointe would typically begin by enquiring about which dance genres and levels are available, and whether the curriculum aligns with the student's age and experience. It is worth clarifying whether classes run in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, and what the term commitment looks like — some schools require a full-term enrolment while others allow month-to-month attendance. Prospective students are encouraged to ask about class sizing, the teaching approach, and whether classes are conducted in-person at the Kallang Ave studio or through any online format. Parents of younger children may also wish to understand how progress is assessed across terms.
To take the next step, contact Firstpointe via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to ask about current class schedules, available levels, and whether a trial class can be arranged before committing to a term.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
This is a school where you can find teachers who teaches with great knowledge and great passion. The teaches who are guided under the artistic director of Ms Tan Meng Hooi have shown great teaching skills in providing students what they truly need in order to dance well. My little girl has been learning in FP for the past 3 years and she really has shown improvements. Most importantly, she enjoys the classes.
It has been 9 years for my eldest girl and 8 years for my younger girl having ballet, and contemporary class with Firstpointe. We are so lucky to get to know Ms Tan, artistic director who is so passionate in teaching my eldest girl regardless of her poor techniques. Most importantly my girl Likes her too 🥰 My girl is now 18years old and she was groomed by Ms Tan to be a better dancer and better person. Dancing is more than just movement - it's an expression of joy, discipline and artistry. Behind every great dancer stands a dedicated dance teacher who shapes not just steps, but confidence, perseverance, and passion. Her patient guidance has transformed my girl to be a great dancer. While the younger sister followed the big sister’s foot step, she joined ballet class since age of 4 and now she is 12. She is inspired by all the ballerinas, by all the big sisters especially her own sister. She even explores herself from ballet to contemporary dance. Ms Eva, another very passionate teacher who had guided her, taught her to feel the music and express it through dance movement which she enjoys it very much. Countless of rehearsals when approaching competition make them a better person, teaching them winning is not about trophies but more on personal growth! Overall the school has amazing dance teachers!
I started training under Ms Tan Meng Hooi when I was 12 years old, and her dedication to make every dancer into the best dancer they can be is something I’ve always admired about her. Beyond just dance, she’s instilled a lot of values in me such as self-discipline and how to endure through tough times, which actually made me into a better student in school back then and my grades drastically improved too :) Really thankful firstpointe was a huge part of my teenage and growing up years and my time at the studio has definitely nurtured me into the person I am today!
From the moment we joined, the school has been nothing short of amazing. The instructors are not only highly skilled and passionate but also genuinely care about each student’s growth and well-being. The classes are well-structured, challenging, and inspiring—striking a perfect balance between discipline and creativity. It started with my daughter and later my wife joined. My girl did recently her RAD grade 8 exam so is more or less finished. My wife recently did her RAD grade 6 exam. On top of that due to great help of Firstpointe, my girl was able to admit into SOTA and is now year 5 CP. So highly recommend to anyone looking for a dance school that truly makes a difference.

Firstpointe displays a mid-range ($$) price tier, but specific per-session rates, monthly packages, and term fees are not publicly listed. Dance schools in Singapore typically charge S$20–50 per group session or S$60–120 for one-to-one sessions, with term-based packages often offering a lower effective rate per class. It is worth asking whether a separate materials or costume fee applies, and whether sibling discounts or multi-class packages are available. Some schools charge a registration or enrolment fee at the start of each academic year. See the full Dance Schools cost guide for Singapore →
Many dance schools in Singapore offer a trial class at a reduced fee or as part of the first session, allowing students to experience the teaching style, class pace, and studio environment before signing up for a full term. It is advisable to ask Firstpointe directly whether a trial class is available and what it costs. When attending a trial, observe whether the level is appropriate for the student, whether the instructor communicates clearly with the age group, and whether the student is engaged throughout. A trial class is also a good opportunity to assess class size and how individual attention is managed. If a formal trial is not offered, ask whether the first session of a term can serve as a no-commitment starting point before confirming enrolment.
Instructor credentials are not publicly listed for Firstpointe. For dance schools, relevant qualifications typically include graded examination certifications from bodies such as the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), ISTD, or NAFA, as well as professional performance or choreography experience. Years of teaching experience and familiarity with specific genres — such as ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, or jazz — are also worth verifying. It is recommended that parents ask directly about the lead instructor's training background, whether instructors hold recognised teaching certifications, and how long they have been teaching the relevant genre and age group. Take the trial class and confirm the instructor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
