I frequent Clarissa’s Barre/Sculpt class. Been to a couple of barre classes around Singapore and honestly no one does it better than she does. Her cues are very good and she emphasises certain fundamentals of ballet in the exercises which makes it more challenging yet more rooted in what barre should be in my opinion - ballet-influenced fitness. I also appreciate that her music is soothing and not those hyped HIIT type music in other places. Studio space is extremely clean too.

I’ve been taking adult ballet classes with Erica, and I feel so lucky to have found her. Her classes are very effective—challenging but never overwhelming. In other studios I sometimes felt lost or frustrated with overly complicated movements. She gives hands-on guidance to everyone regardless how many students are in the room, and always demonstrates the movements clearly. Her energy is so positive. Even when she teaches back-to-back classes, she still brings the same dedication and enthusiasm to each one. I’ve joined Le Grand classes through different platforms and promotions, and always feel welcomed. Appreciate that there’s no hard-selling of class packs.

I attended the flow and stretch class on Saturday. Before coming to the studio, I asked many questions for several months. Questions from age, no dance background, different types of class, fitness level etc. The questions comes on and off for several months. Each question was replied to with professionalism and hard sell. Today to the studio. I approached the front desk, excellent customer service and engaging conversation. Get to speak to the Adult Ballet teacher too to know The flow and stretch class is superly pleasant session. Just right pace. A lot of ballet movement involvement which was great since this is a ballet school. I sign up for their class pack immediately and looking forward to my next flow and stretch class.

Quoting Erica Ng, “I can see what you ate for breakfast this morning girls.” Who knows if this place has changed at all, however I am inclined not to support a business where adults who are unable to manage their own emotions and properly nurture very young and impressionable girls. Call it pettiness, but I hated every second in ballet class since young. Maybe I would’ve liked it if the teachers (looking at Erica and her mother) weren’t so demeaning and disrespectful to us. Who knew that teaching ballet would allow you to encourage eating disorders and low self esteem for children. I insist that whoever was involved in teaching aspiring students back then, truly reflect deep down, if they are actually worth anyone’s money.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Le Grand School of Dance charge per session?

Le Grand School of Dance has not published its exact fee schedule publicly, so you will need to enquire directly for current pricing. Dance schools in Singapore typically charge on a monthly or termly basis rather than per individual session, with group classes generally ranging from S$80 to S$200 per month depending on the style, level, and duration of each class. One-to-one sessions tend to cost considerably more. Beyond the base class fee, it is worth asking about a registration or enrolment fee, any costume or recital fees, examination entry fees if the school follows a graded syllabus, and whether there are sibling or multi-class package discounts available. A trial class, if offered, may be charged separately or waived. See the full Dance Schools cost guide for Singapore →

Can I try a class before committing?

Many dance schools in Singapore offer a trial class so prospective students can experience the teaching style and assess whether the level and pace are a good fit before committing to a full term or monthly arrangement. It is worth contacting Le Grand School of Dance directly to confirm whether a trial is available for your preferred style, what the trial class costs, and whether that fee is credited against enrolment if you proceed. When attending a trial, observe how the instructor engages with students of different abilities, whether the class pace feels appropriate, and whether the environment feels encouraging and well-structured. A single trial session is usually enough to gauge basic fit, though some styles — particularly classical ballet or contemporary — may take a second class to properly assess level placement.

What are the instructors' credentials at Le Grand School of Dance?

Specific instructor credentials for Le Grand School of Dance are not publicly listed at this time. When enquiring, it is reasonable to ask about each instructor's professional dance background, any teaching qualifications they hold — such as those from the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD), or similar bodies — and how many years of teaching experience they have. If the school offers an examination syllabus, it is also worth confirming that the instructors are accredited to enter students for those examinations. If credentials are not readily shared, that is worth noting before committing to a term. Take the trial class and confirm the instructor's actual background before signing up.
