Had a very pleasant experience at Lian Seng Hin (Balestier) yesterday. Went there to look for kitchen and bathroom tiles for my mum’s upcoming renovation. I was prepared to spend 1 to 2 hours to look through as that was what I experienced at 2 different tile companies previously. Upon entering the shop premises, I was greeted by a cheerful staff by the name of Hui Shing. She asked if she could assist in any way and I showed her some pics of the kitchen tiles I’m interested in. Her knowledge of tiles meant she was able to identify very quickly a few possible close matches within a matter of a few minutes. She also explained how lighting could have played a part in how the tiles showed up in the pics. She quickly came up with a few suggestions upon hearing the kind of tiles I’m looking to use in the bathroom. Without me having to say anything, she made a shortlist of all the tiles I expressed an interest in and proceeded to line up the various tiles for me to better visualise if the colour combination worked. Wow! She has really taken very good care of her customers and represented the company well. Her efficiency and knowledge meant that I was done within 30 minutes. Originally I had planned to visit another tile shop but my experience with her meant my shopping can now stop. Thank you Hui Shing!! 👍👍

Visited the shop at Balestier in December 2023 & was served by Jimmy. He was friendly & we are happy that we got a special price for our porcelain tiles 80cm x 80cm through a friend recommendation. Delivery was next day, which is efficient. However, the after sales service need much more improvement. Upon laying the tiles, my contractor was horrific to discover that some tiles is of a slight different color tile (as per photograph). We are very worried as all tiles are of the same design but with a slight difference in color tone. My contractor immediately halt all works to confirm the number of affected tiles. We have to verify both unopened & opened carton boxes to confirm the color code. It is very time consuming to manually check each tile as color code on most carton boxes match our invoice. I called but Jimmy didn't answer our calls. After much chasing, Alex (from LSH) came to our site & hinted that 1 box of the same design but different color theme could have been included in the delivery. We decides to visit the Balestier shop & look for Jimmy. Ee Waa issued us an invoice for a box of tiles with the correct code & Jimmy replied that they will provide the replacement box of tiles out of goodwill. I am dumbfounded by his reply. Firstly, Jimmy was curt & did not apologize for the whole saga. Secondly, I believe it is customer's right to get 1-for-1 replacement of tiles as it was a wrong order delivery. Thirdly, No compensation was initially offered though tiles installation was midway. Lastly, we return all uncut pieces of the wrong color code as per Jimmy's request. It was mentally & physically tiring as we have to take urgent leave & help check each tile and confirm the correct tile, not forgetting the contractor + tiler's time & labour to remove the affected tiles. I find the after sales service has many room for improvement. Regardless it is a mistake by warehouse, it is still a mistake by the company. I would have felt better if the company was more helpful to resolve the issue. At the end of the day, Jimmy came outside of the store & apologies and provided one box of tiles out of goodwill. My advise for all is to keep the sample tile as it is the only way to help us to confirm our tile color.

We had issues with our contractor. Michelle helped us to check on our invoices as our contractor stopped the work half way and we had to take payment back. He also kept invoices with him.

Please be warned. I took delivery of tiles from LSH a few days ago. There were broken tiles and the packaging was wet, decayed and teeming with termites. I asked that they take back the tiles and give me a refund, which they did. But before that, their representative confessed to me that 1. In their warehouse, many of the tiles are stored outdoors, subject to all nature’s elements. 2. Termites are a common problem in their warehouse. Even their office has termites. 3. It is not their practice to check their tiles before delivery. 4. The damaged, termite-infested packing was really obvious for all to see. They were really trying to pass off, hoping that we would accept it without checking. 5. When they came to take the damaged tiles back to their warehouse, I told them to get rid of the damaged, termite-infested tile and should not try to sell it off to someone else. But their representative there told the driver to cover up the tiles while they were being transported back as there was light rain at that time. This leads me to fear that they do plan re-sell it. 6. I went onto their website and sent an enquiry for an email address of a General Manager, but they have not replied. They really do not value their own reputation.
