Families considering Little Paddington are encouraged to enquire about available slots for their child's intended start month, as places at preschools and kindergartens in Singapore — particularly for younger age groups — can fill quickly. When you make contact via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form, ask about the infant-to-caregiver ratio, the daily routine, and the settling-in period for new children. If your child holds Singapore citizenship or permanent residency, it is worth asking how the centre handles ECDA subsidy applications, as this can meaningfully reduce monthly fees.

I checked out several schools in the area before deciding to enroll my child at Little Paddington at 18 months old for playgroup. Without a shadow of a doubt, I believe I made the absolute BEST decision. Here are my notes in a few key areas to consider when looking for a school: TEACHERS AND STAFF What makes Little Paddington Balmoral top tier to me are the very professional, warm and empathic teachers and staff. From day one to present day, they’ve consistently treated my son and his peers with nothing but absolute care and attention to detail. It’s normal for kids to still deal with separation anxiety at that age, but they really know how to make the children feel at home with a sense of connection and whatever your child responds to specifically. In our case, our son loves music, so when they do their morning songs it really starts the day on the right foot. There is so much effort that goes into how parents are updated daily (with check ins and outs, photos and messages), weekly and monthly via the app. They are always easy to reach or contact for any concerns, and I really enjoy our parent teacher calls where we go over my son’s progress, what can be improved, and how we can work together to achieve certain goals. SCHEDULE From the minute they get in to school, there is a well balanced curriculum that consists of structured and free play, learning and mealtimes. My family opted for half day at his current age, so pick up is right before nap time. Once a week they have their outdoor field trips to various parks and playgrounds for some vitamin D and to learn more about nature and the world around them. Every now and then there are parent accompanied field trips to places like seedling nurseries and most recently, the Oceanarium which are super fun. SYLLABUS Every term there is an overarching theme such as “ocean animals” or “transportation”, along with learning about different countries and cultures, phonics, musical movement and cause and effect / exploration activities. I love how inclusive the school is, and it’s always a joy to see my son dress up and celebrate holidays like Diwali, Chinese New Year, Friendship Day or National Book Day. I am also impressed at how they manage to seamlessly conduct half the day’s lessons in Mandarin, and the other half in English. My son has gone from not knowing a single Mandarin word to being able to understand and respond to basic conversational phrases. And when it comes to English, he is a lot more chatty and expresses himself confidently. From what I’ve seen, students are encouraged to speak up and use their hands as well as their imagination, and there is a big emphasis on crafts which is great for kinesthetic and visual learners like my son. MEALS Healthy meal plans are provided, and it’s been delightful to hear about my picky eater becoming more flexible and trying different foods. ENVIRONMENT AND LOCATION Accessible, centrally located with a bus stop right below and MRT walking distance. Groceries nearby in case you need to run errands before or after pickup. The school itself is very clean, safe and spacious enough for all the classes to co exist peacefully within their own classrooms as well as in common areas. What impressed me was the “Mandarin Village” in the center, as well as the outer space room with stars on the ceiling. They also have a fully equipped indoor playground. I could go on and on, but in a nut shell but my husband and I are extremely happy with Little Paddington. If you are considering what school to enroll your child in, definitely check them out. In just one year we’ve seen a huge improvement in how our son interacts with others socially and emotionally, and you can really see the values the school embraces reflected in disposition. World class. Shoutout to Principal Matilda, Xu Laoshi, Ms Nurul, Teacher Angie and the whole team for the incredible work they do on the daily!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Little Paddington charge per month?

Little Paddington is priced in the mid-range tier ($$) for Singapore preschools and kindergartens, though a specific monthly fee figure has not been published on this listing. When you enquire, ask for the full fee breakdown, including any one-time registration fee, refundable deposit (typically equivalent to one to two months' fees), and any charges for uniform, insurance, or enrichment programmes. Childcare and kindergarten fees at ECDA-licensed centres are GST-exempt, so the figure quoted should be the figure you pay. See the full childcare cost guide for Singapore →

What subsidies can I claim at Little Paddington?

Singapore citizen children attending an ECDA-licensed centre may be eligible for the Basic Subsidy — up to S$600 per month for infant care and up to S$300 per month for childcare and kindergarten. Working mothers who clock 56 hours or more of work per month may additionally qualify for the Working Mother's Child Care Subsidy. For lower-income households, the Additional Subsidy can bring the combined subsidy up to S$710 per month. Kindergartens may also qualify for the KiFAS scheme. Permanent resident children are eligible for partial subsidies at lower rates. Subsidy quanta are reviewed periodically, so check the ECDA website directly for current figures before making financial plans. Ask Little Paddington whether they are an ECDA-licensed centre, as subsidy eligibility depends on this status.

Is there a waitlist at Little Paddington?

Demand for preschool and kindergarten places in Singapore can be competitive, particularly for the January intake, which is the primary annual enrolment period. For popular centres, families often begin enquiring three to twelve months ahead of their intended start date, with infant care places typically the hardest to secure. To check current availability at Little Paddington, reach out directly via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form. If you wish to secure a place, be prepared to pay a registration fee and deposit promptly, as centres will generally only hold a spot once these are received. Contacting the centre as early as possible gives you the best chance of securing your preferred start month.
