I recommend highly Dr. Loong: he is an exceptionally caring doctor, who listens very well to his patients and goes out of his way to ensure that their needs are met. From the first minute that you meet up with him, you realise that he genuinely cares for people, and his warmth makes you feel immediately cared for. While attending to me on a public holiday, he spent 20 minutes making calls all over Singapore to find a supplier of medical devices that was open, so that I could get the product that I needed. After my surgery, he spent about 45 minutes in my room explaining how the procedure went, and answering patiently and in great detail all of my (and my wife's) questions, in layman terms that we could understand easily. Do NOT be put off by the fact that his practice is located in Mount Elisabeth Hospital: he showed real concern about financial issues, and he operates out of a variety of other hospitals, to suit his patients' finances. You get the impression that unlike some other medical practitioners, his calling is to practise medicine, not get mega rich. I told him about painful side effects that I experienced after the same procedure performed by another surgeon many years earlier, and he took steps that resulted in experiencing none of the same painful side effects this time. All procedures tend to be more or less stressful, unpleasant or painful, so it is very comforting to have a doctor who takes time to listen to his patients, to answer their questions, and makes them feel very well looked after and cared for.

Dr. Loong performed my appendectomy and I have since asked him to do colorectal cancer screening for me as well. Dr Loong is obviously knowledgeable and experienced, and was very capable at explaining all of the details of the surgery and procedures in a clear and concise way. I highly recommend him and his office team, who are efficient and were very helpful with all the insurance processes.
