Families considering Merry Minds should begin by enquiring about level and syllabus fit — whether the tutoring covers primary, secondary, or junior college curricula, and which syllabuses are supported (MOE, IB, IGCSE, or others). It is worth clarifying whether sessions are conducted on a one-to-one or group basis, and whether tuition takes place at the Roxy Square 2 location in East Coast, at the student's home, or online. Ask about trial class availability, term commitment expectations, and any materials or resource fees that may apply alongside the session rate.
The most direct next step is to reach out to Merry Minds via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about availability for your child's level, confirm the session format, and arrange a trial class before committing to a term.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
My son has been going to Merry Minds centre for almost 1 year now and I have seen significant improvements in his pronounciation and writing skills. Merry Minds is run by teacher Karen and she is engaging, passionate about her craft and makes learning fun for her students. She is firm yet gentle with the students, and creates a calm and welcoming environment for learning. Her batch sizes are small (usually 2-4 kids) which allows personalized attention for each kid. The support teachers and staff at the centre are equally good. I would recommend Merry Minds to any parents looking for phonics/English class for their little ones. Teacher Karen’s dedication and personalised attention towards her students really sets this centre apart from the bigger/branded centres.
We wanted our 3 year old to be better in English (especially the pronunciation) and we came across Merry Minds. The first trial class went very well. Teacher Karen is very friendly and she uses so many different methods which appealed to my child. Now after a couple of months, not only has my child’s English improved, she also loves coming for this class and has a stronger interest in the subject!
Teacher Karen of Merry Minds is very patient and tailor made the curriculum and content to increase Javier’s ability to write creatively. From a boy who doesn’t like writing to writing a composition easily now is a great improvement and we can’t thank Teacher Karen enough. Teacher Karen is very creative in using different methods to captivate Javier’s interest. Javier always look forward to Monday lessons at Merry Minds due to all the different interesting content and no lesson is ever boring. Thank you Teacher Karen and Merry Minds! Javier will be an author of a story book soon under your guidance !
My son has been attending the phonics class at Merry Minds since last September, and we’ve already seen significant improvement in his reading, pronunciation and writing. Ms Karen is very patient, engaging, and skilled at making learning fun. The environment is welcoming, and I feel confident that my son is building a strong foundation for his English language skills. Highly recommend this place to any parent looking for quality English language instructions!
Miss Karen is a wonderful teacher and a caring individual. My child thoroughly enjoyed attending her classes, especially the phonics lessons. What stood out the most was her use of play-based learning sometimes, which not only kept my child motivated but also made learning fun and engaging. If your child is struggling with phonics at preschool, I highly recommend this school. It's a supportive environment where kids can thrive and develop a love for learning

Merry Minds displays a mid-range price indicator ($$), though a specific per-session or monthly rate has not been published on this listing. In the Singapore private tuition market, group sessions typically range from S$30–80 per hour depending on level, whilst one-to-one sessions for secondary and JC students can run S$60–200 or more per hour. When enquiring, ask whether fees are charged per session, as a monthly package, or on a per-term basis. Clarify whether a trial class carries a separate fee, and whether printed materials or workbooks are billed additionally. Sibling discounts or package deals for block bookings are worth raising at the outset. See the full private tutor cost guide for Singapore →
Many private tutoring providers in Singapore offer a trial class so families can assess teaching style, level appropriateness, and whether the tutor's approach suits the child's learning needs. It is advisable to ask Merry Minds directly whether a trial session is available and whether it is charged at the standard session rate or a reduced introductory fee. During the trial, observe how the tutor identifies gaps in the student's understanding, the pace of instruction, and how questions are handled. A well-matched tutor will adjust explanations to the student's level rather than following a fixed script. Use the session to gauge engagement and comfort before agreeing to a term commitment.
Specific tutor qualifications for Merry Minds have not been published on this listing. When contacting them, it is reasonable to ask whether the tutor holds a degree in the relevant subject, has NIE or MOE teaching experience, and is familiar with the specific syllabus your child is following — whether that is the MOE national curriculum, the Cambridge IGCSE, the IB Diploma, or another framework. For primary and lower secondary students, subject knowledge and the ability to communicate clearly at the child's level often matter as much as formal credentials. For O-Level, A-Level, or IB candidates, ask about the tutor's track record with those specific examinations. Confirm these details directly before committing to a term.
