I had an extremely distressing and disappointing experience at this veterinary clinic, and I feel compelled to share this so other pet owners can make an informed decision. Every visit cost more than $500, and I constantly felt pressured to purchase additional medications. My dog was suffering from advanced mammary cancer, and the vet had already informed us that the cancer had spread throughout her body and could not be cured. Despite this, the vet at MFV strongly insisted on trying more than 10 different medications, claiming they could help delay the condition. Over time, it became clear to me that this clinic’s approach felt dishonest and exploitative. I was repeatedly encouraged to spend more money on medications that were presented as “necessary,” despite the fact that my dog’s condition was terminal. It felt less like compassionate care and more like aggressive upselling during one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. I initially refused because the total cost had already exceeded $2,000, but I was persuaded repeatedly. Out of desperation and love for my dog, I eventually agreed. I followed every instruction exactly as advised, hoping it would help her feel better. Instead, within just a few days, my dog’s condition became much worse. I rushed her to another vet because I had completely lost trust in MFV. The new vet reviewed the medications prescribed by MFV and informed me that some of them could actually WORSEN MY DOG’S CONDITION, while several others CANCELED EACH OTHER OUT, meaning they provided no benefit at all. Hearing this was devastating. I broke down knowing that the medicines I trusted may have caused my dog unnecessary suffering during her final stage. The new vet immediately advised me to stop all medications from MFV, which I did. This experience caused immense emotional pain, unnecessary suffering for my dog, and significant financial loss. Based on my experience, MFV’s actions felt unethical, profit-driven, and lacking in honesty or genuine concern for my pet’s wellbeing. I deeply regret trusting this clinic and strongly discourage any pet owner from visiting, particularly when compassionate, honest, and appropriate medical care is crucial.
Id hope everyone stray FAR away from this clinic! I am not the one to type out horrible reviews but this is honestly crazy. I had my dog come in, a shiba inu. The vet kept pressing for unnecessary procedures! its absolutely unacceptable to me. i had to keep telling them that i did not need that much injections etc etc. please read the reviews
I’ve been bringing Rice to My Family Vet and have had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Vanessa. Her dedication to every case is clear from the moment you meet her. She takes the time to explain conditions thoroughly, answer questions patiently, and ensure that no detail is overlooked in treatment. The waiting times can be long, but they are a reflection of her commitment to giving each patient the attention they deserve — not rushing through any consultation. Importantly, when true emergencies arise, Dr. Vanessa prioritizes them immediately without hesitation, making sure urgent cases get the critical care they need. Knowing that Rice is treated with such care, patience, and professionalism gives me great peace of mind. If you’re looking for a vet who truly treats your pet like family and stands ready for emergencies, Dr. Vanessa and the team at My Family Vet are well worth the wait.
We are truly thankful and grateful with the help of Dr Vanessa and her team. Before we met Dr Vanessa, My dog diagnosed a big tumor near kidney by a famous Australian vet. However, my dog's condition getting worst within one month after the consultation, as the vet even didn't prescript any medicine or KD food for the kidney, only high blood pressure medicine are given. When we bought him to Dr Vanessa, his kidney reading became worse that exceed the reading. He even stop eating for 4days and look so deadly. We were so hopeless and fearful that we will lost him forever. But after hospitalize and medical treatment by Dr Vanessa. Dou Dou now regain his lively life, he is so energetic, he still like to go garden, keep barking when playing, running happily all over the house, and with a very good appetite. Thank you Dr Vanessa and her team.
First time here and the vet insist on all the checkups, blood test when I just wanted a vaccination for my dog. I requested for one vaccination and Dr Vanessa gave 3 jabs instead without my approval. They also suggesting 4 lab test prior to the vaccination which will cost a hefty sum. I agreed to take one of the test which showed negative yet the other 2 vaccinations was done without my consent while I did voiced out I did not want. The bill was 300 plus. Additionally, I don't get it why my dog have to be kept behind doors and the blood was taken without owner's presence. My dog has been restless since the visit and all I wanted to get the vaccination done for his boarding. I really hope my dog won't be at harm's way after this visit. I'm so worried.

Veterinary consultation fees in Singapore typically range from S$30 to S$80 for a standard visit, with additional charges for diagnostic tests, medications, vaccinations, or procedures. The final bill depends on your pet's condition, the treatments administered, and any follow-up care required. Larger or more complex cases — such as surgery, dental scaling, or hospitalisation — will carry separate pricing. It is advisable to ask My Family Vet Clinic for an itemised estimate before proceeding with any non-emergency treatment, particularly for procedures that may involve anaesthesia or overnight stays. Pet insurance, where held, may offset some costs depending on your policy coverage. See the full Veterinary Clinics cost guide for Singapore →
For dogs, core vaccinations include the DHPP combination (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza) and rabies, which is legally required in Singapore. Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination is often recommended, particularly if your dog attends boarding, grooming, or doggy daycare. For cats, the FVRCP vaccine (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia) is the core recommendation. Vaccination records are typically expected to be current within the past 12 months. If your pet's records are out of date or unavailable, the clinic may recommend a fresh vaccination course before certain services can proceed. Bring your pet's vaccination booklet or digital records to the first appointment so the veterinary team can assess what is due and plan the appropriate schedule going forward.
Veterinary clinics in Singapore operate under the oversight of the National Parks Board (NParks) and must comply with the Animals and Birds Act. Practising veterinarians are required to be registered with the Singapore Veterinary Council (SVC), and you can verify a vet's registration on the SVC public register before your appointment. Boarding and grooming facilities are separately licensed by the Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks. My Family Vet Clinic does not currently list any AVS or other regulatory licences on this directory profile — if boarding or grooming services are offered, confirm the relevant licence directly with the clinic. Visit the facility, check the vaccination policy, and confirm insurance before drop-off.
