Just want to thank Dr Tai for the help given to my boy, Zippy. She is experienced and knows what she is doing. Without her, I think Zippy would have gone long ago. He passed away 2 days ago at the ripe old age of 17. I wish her and all the staff at Nam Sang well. Thank you.

I’ve been bringing my felv+ cats to Nam Sang for the past few years. Dr Tai is very knowledgeable and gentle with my cats. She has also been very transparent about the costs of treatment, making sure that I’m comfortable with the proposed treatment and costs before proceeding. I know my cats are in good hands under her care.

I would like to share the story happened to our JRT regarding "second opinion" recently. *Second opinion for cancer treatments* We would like to have second opinions because there is no second chance for Whisky(My puppy). His life is once. He is our family. Whisky (my 15-month-old puppy) had surgery on 5th October at NAM SANG VETERINARY CLINIC. Dr. Tai sent the tumor to a pathology lab to check if it is benign or malignant. The report came out. Dr. Tai gave me a call on 11th October (Monday) and told us it was malignant. She advised us to try chemotherapy which is Palladia (oral). Because she told us she is unsure if all cancer cells were removed. The tumor is right next to Whisk's nose. She can't cut or damage his nose. We never expected such a young puppy to have cancer and never studied about dog oncology before. We did not have any idea or information about it. We did not know what kinds of treatment options exist in Singapore. So we googled and googled. I asked around for advice from people. Then I came up with one idea that is "SECOND OPINION" To find the best way (we can believe) for our Whisky, our family. So we asked Dr. Tai if we could receive the pathology report soon for a second opinion. She was upset and unhappy. Today, I needed to have a referral from Dr. Tai to see another vet at Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital that is one of my friends' recommendation. So I called Dr. Tai. She was very upset about what we were doing. Whisky is supposed to see her remove his stitches on 19th October but she told me that she would not see Whisky anymore. I asked why. Then she said "It's the trust issue. You don't trust me. You go to another doctor to have a second opinion, then, you go ahead with them. I won't see you anymore." I was extremely shocked. Tears fell down... I asked her because she gave Whisky surgery if she could remove his stitches. She said that the stitches were tiny and that I could go somewhere else to remove it. I told her a second opinion does not mean we don't trust her. It's all for Whisky and it does not mean we underestimate you. Chemotherapy is tough as there are side effects. However, Whisky most likely will not live long like other healthy dogs. His life is once. He has no second chance. It's for the rest of our life. We saw Dr. Nicholas at Advanced Vetcare for a second opinion. Dr. Nicolas introduced Vinblastine (IV) to us for cancer treatment. Now we have two options. If we did not seek a second opinion, we did not know another treatment available. I have two more appointments with Jireh veterinary clinic and Veterinary emergency & specialty Hospital. We would like to do research as much as possible and decide the way to go. It's our life. If I were a vet, I pray for all pets and families. if you’re concerned about the harmful side effects of conventional medicine and looking for a more natural alternative that isn’t hogwash, this is it. dr tai helped our cat recover from her nasty 10-min coughing/wheezing/sneezing fits with her 中西合拼 east-meets-west expertise, combining the best of modern medicine with traditional chinese medicine to yield the best results. before dr tai, our previous regular vet advised us to run a battery of tests on our cat or to consider starting a steroid trial, which could mean our then-one-year-old cat will be on steroids for the rest of her life. while we understood she had good intentions, we hoped for a better, more natural alternative that didn’t come bundled with side effects. after being sponged by a TCM-only vet who charged us $550 for medication and one acupuncture session (and after that being told that our cat “may die” if we don’t bring her in every 3 days for treatment), we found dr tai. contrary to what another reviewer is saying, dr tai truly cares for her furry patients. she is firm yet gentle, knowing when to distract them so she may gingerly insert another acupuncture needle; realistic but not all doom-and-gloom or excessive in her diagnosis, understanding that most pet owners do not own gold mines. instead of treatment every 3 days, we only had to bring tux is every 2 weeks, then every month when tux got better. after 5 treatments, tux stopped coughing entirely. to this day (one year later), tux is still energetic and chatty, completely unlike her silent and scared self when she was ill. (another instance is while another well-meaning vet recommended that we bring tux for dental scaling ASAP [read: very expensive!], dr tai understood that we don’t have that much spare cash and gave us some other (more affordable) ways to keep tux’s teeth clean and healthy the best we can... to this day we’re still using the herbal solutions she recommended and seeing healthy pink gums on a gingivitis-prone cat.) the treatments are reasonably priced—each acupuncture session costs about $100, but includes a vitamin b jab at the end that helps enhance the effectiveness of the tcm treatment. also because it’s east-meets-west, medications are a lot easier to feed than the powdered herbs from a tcm-only vet. prices for “medication” (actually more like supplements that gradually and naturally balance your pet’s internal state) are also very reasonable, from my memory about $10 to $30 each and lasting for quite long. every time we visit nam sang, there’ll be stray kitties that dr tai is fostering in her clinic for one animal welfare organisation or another. sometimes one or two, sometimes a whole litter. so to say that the kind-hearted souls at this clinic don’t care, or that they are just out for the money... is grossly inaccurate. we recommend nam sang wholeheartedly.
