A Tribute to a Beloved Childcare Today is a dark day for us and I’m sure for many other parents as well. It is with great sadness that we learned the childcare will cease operations on 16 March 2025. This school has a long and cherished history, so much so that even my adult sister-in-law attended it during her childhood. I wanted to leave this note as a tribute to the school’s legacy, which has nurtured and supported generations of children. It’s disheartening to see that the community centre is prioritizing higher rental income over continuing to serve the community. Above all, I would like to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to the passionate and caring teachers who made such a difference in our children’s lives. We can sense their genuine love and dedication shining through every day. Thank you Teacher Mary, Teacher Yna, Teacher Era, Teacher Aung, Yang老师, Xu老师, Xi老师, Zhang老师 and all the supporting staff for everything you have done. This childcare center may be closing its doors but its impact will be remembered forever.
My child joined Smiling Star BP - PG class back in 2018 & graduated in 2022! Thank you to everyone from Smiling Star BP, all your love & guidance that you have given to my child & all the students. I could see the teachers & principal are dedicated & caring towards the children. My mind was always at ease when I sent my child to the school knowing that he enjoyed school everyday. Thank you again for the past 5 years with u💙..
Preschool Name: Smiling Star ChildCare Centre Location: Bukit Panjang Review Date: July 29, 2024 I couldn’t be happier with our experience at Smiling Stars. Here are some highlights that make it an outstanding choice for early childhood education: Teachers: The teachers at Smiling Stars are highly qualified, caring, and dedicated to their students’ development. They create a nurturing environment where children feel valued and confident. Their ability to connect with each child and understand their unique needs is truly impressive. Communication: Communication between the preschool and parents is excellent. We receive regular updates on our child’s progress, including weekly newsletters, photos, and detailed reports. The staff is always available to discuss any concerns or questions, making us feel like true partners in our child’s education. The childcare follows a play-based curriculum that encourages exploration and creativity. My child has developed excellent social skills and a love for learning through their hands-on activities. Overall, I'm satisfied and feel safe for my kids to be in Smiling Stars, it has exceeded my expectations in some ways ☺️
Very happy to have sent my child to this centre from N2 to K2 after a not so good experience at his previous school. Great teachers and also not forgetting the Principal. Very good environment for the kids to learn and many extra activities planned for the kids throughout the year which helps greatly in their development.
My child goes to Smiling Star Childcare. Teachers are very friendly and my daughter is happy to go school. Thank you Smiling Star.

Smiling Star Preschool is priced at the mid-range ($$) on a monthly recurring basis. Beyond the monthly fee itself, families should ask about a one-time registration fee, a deposit (commonly equivalent to two months' fees), and any costs for uniforms or personal accident insurance. Childcare fees in Singapore are GST-exempt, so the quoted monthly rate should reflect what you pay. Confirm all fee components in writing before signing the enrolment contract. Singapore citizen children enrolled in infant care may qualify for the Basic Subsidy of up to S$600 per month, or up to S$300 per month for childcare. Working mothers employed for at least 56 hours per month may also access the Additional Working Mother's Child Care Subsidy on top of the Basic Subsidy. Lower-income families may further qualify for the Additional Subsidy, which is income-tested and can bring total combined subsidy support up to S$710 per month. Permanent resident children are eligible for partial subsidies at lower quantum. Subsidy amounts and eligibility criteria are reviewed periodically, so check directly with ECDA at ecda.gov.sg for the most current figures before enrolment.
Infant care places in Singapore are among the most competitive in the early childhood sector, and families are generally advised to enquire three to twelve months ahead of their intended start date. January is typically the peak intake month, though some centres accept mid-year enrolments. Securing a place usually requires paying a registration fee and deposit. Contact Smiling Star Preschool directly via phone or the enquiry form to ask about current availability for your target start month, as waitlist status can change quickly.
