When enquiring about a place, parents should ask about slot availability for their intended start month, the infant-to-caregiver ratio in the relevant class, the daily routine and curriculum approach, and the settling-in period the centre follows to help children transition comfortably. It is also worth asking whether the centre participates in ECDA subsidy schemes, which can meaningfully reduce monthly fees for Singapore citizen children. My daughter started infant care at Orion at just over 5 months old and has very rarely fallen sick. I believe this is partly due to the school’s standalone building with good ventilation and a garden, which creates a very conducive environment. While I initially expected infant care to function mainly as a daycare, I was pleasantly surprised by the structured activities even for babies, including songs and take-home activity kits. The infant care facilities are brand new, spacious, and renovated, and the teachers clearly know her very well — something that has always been evident from the detailed observations shared during parent-teacher meetings. When the time came for playgroup and subsequently preschool, we had originally placed a deposit with another (much pricier) preschool, but based on our experience at Orion, we decided to forfeit it and continue here instead. The transition was extremely seamless, with familiar teachers, friends, and surroundings, so her first day did not feel like a drastic change. Since infant care and continuing through playgroup, her progress has been very evident — from new songs and language skills to manners and growing independence. Even after we moved house, and therefore preschool, she would occasionally tell us that she misses her old school and name her friends from Orion, which speaks volumes. We would highly recommend Orion to parents living nearby.

We have had an amazing experience with Orion Preschool. The principal and teachers (Especially Ms Jacy and 陈老师) are incredibly caring and nurturing, creating a positive and supportive environment for all the children. My daughter has been attending the school for the past two years, and I have seen remarkable improvements in her confidence, learning, and overall development. She always looks forward to going to school, which speaks volumes about the loving and engaging atmosphere the team provides. The teachers go above and beyond to ensure every child is supported, and their efforts are evident in how well my daughter has progressed. One highlight is how the school encourages children of all levels to perform in an auditorium setting annually. It’s truly inspiring to see the dedication the teachers put into fostering creativity and self-expression in the students. We are so grateful for the wonderful foundation this school has provided for our daughter. I would highly recommend Orion Preschool to any parent looking for a caring and enriching learning environment for their child.

My kids have really enjoyed their time at Orion Preschool since playgroup (and if they had started infant care then, they would have joined even earlier!) There's a nice outdoor space with play equipment and garden. They organise regular performances by the kids with singing and dancing and the end of year concert which is a highlight for all the kids and parents. All the teachers have been so friendly and nurturing, and helped my kids through all their milestones before primary school. 💕😊

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Tanjong Katong Kindergarten charge per month?

Tanjong Katong Kindergarten is priced at the mid-range ($$) tier for Singapore kindergartens, though the exact monthly fee has not been published on this listing — contact the centre directly for a current fee schedule. Beyond the monthly tuition fee, parents should ask about a one-off registration fee, a deposit (typically equivalent to one to two months' fees), and any charges for uniforms, insurance, or enrichment add-ons. Childcare and kindergarten fees in Singapore are GST-exempt, so the figure quoted should be the figure you pay. See the full childcare cost guide for Singapore →

What subsidies can I claim at Tanjong Katong Kindergarten?

Singapore citizen children enrolled in an ECDA-licensed centre may be eligible for the Basic Subsidy (up to S$300 per month for childcare, or up to S$600 per month for infant care), which is means-tested on household income. Working mothers who clock at least 56 hours per month may additionally qualify for the Working Mother's Child Development Subsidy (WMS). For lower-income families, the Additional Subsidy can bring combined support up to approximately S$710 per month. Kindergartens that participate in the Kindergarten Fee Assistance Scheme (KiFAS) offer further assistance for eligible families. Singapore Permanent Residents receive partial subsidies at a lower quantum than citizens. Subsidy amounts and eligibility criteria are updated periodically — always check directly with ECDA at ecda.gov.sg for the most current figures before making financial plans.

Is there a waitlist at Tanjong Katong Kindergarten?

Popular kindergartens in Singapore can fill up quickly, and it is generally advisable to enquire three to six months ahead of your intended start date. For infant care places in particular, some centres are booked six to twelve months in advance. The primary intake month for most programmes is January, so families targeting that cohort should begin the process no later than the middle of the preceding year. To secure a place once offered, centres typically require payment of a registration fee and a deposit. Contact Tanjong Katong Kindergarten directly by phone or through the enquiry form to ask about current availability for your child's age group and preferred start month.
