Parents and students looking to enrol should enquire about which levels and syllabi are currently offered, as dance schools typically structure classes by age group, genre, and experience level. It is worth asking whether a trial class is available before committing to a term, and whether lessons run in group or individual formats. Clarifying the term commitment upfront — including the school's policy on make-up classes and withdrawals — will help families plan around school schedules. The Orchard Road location at Forum Office Tower is accessible by MRT and is convenient for families across the island.
To get started, reach out to The Dance Place via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to ask about current class availability, appropriate levels for your child or yourself, and whether a trial session can be arranged before you commit to a full term.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
The best dance school in Singapore! Not only for the high level and variety of classes, but also for the wonderful and welcoming atmosphere. They organize family picnics with performances, as well as professional theatre shows with top-quality costumes. My daughter absolutely loves going there. Highly recommended!
The Dance Place is truly impressive! Dance Instructors are international, experienced and world-class. Their dedication and professionalism outstanding. The studios are well-equipped and the school is very welcoming. Especially recommend for those who have always wanted to dance but didn't have the chance or time. The school is a gem, with its students-centered approach. A special shout-out to its friendly and competent reception and admission staff (Melati!). If you are exploring DANCE in Singapore or looking to develop your potential, The DANCE PLACE is where you should be! A satisfied student/customer
I have been attending Adult Contemporary Dance class taught by Emma for over a year now. Emma is so passionate about dance, full of energy, very encouraging and funny at times which makes her class really enjoyable. I also love her choreography which she changes once a month. This keeps the class interesting cos you'll never be bored going to her class. You'll learn new dance steps at every class and new choreography every month. Place is also centrally located & dance studios are clean too! ❤️❤️
I’ve been taking Fusion Contemporary classes with Sharul since February this year, and it’s been such an inspiring journey. Sharul is a truly creative and original choreographer. Each class brings something new, both technically and emotionally. What I really appreciate is how he always takes time at the end of every session to ask us for feedback and reflect on our takeaways, which helps us grow not just as dancers but as people. Even though I only joined a few months before the recital in May, Sharul encouraged and supported me the whole way through. That experience was so meaningful, and it wouldn’t have been the same without his energy and belief in me. Now, beyond being an amazing teacher, he feels like a friend that I can share my honest thoughts with. I’m so grateful to have found this space and community. Highly recommend his classes to anyone looking to dance with heart, intention, and creativity.
I have only been taking dance lessons from The Dance Place for eight months and enjoyed taking the Kpop Dance lessons. DC is a great instructor. I was very surprised to see this morning that there were kids in the adult class before mine. I have been told that no kids under 16/17 yo are allowed join any adult class because that's the policy. So how come there were two kids in the adult class this morning? I happened to encounter management at the start of my class, and the interaction was disappointing. It's concerning management offered various justifications for allowing kids in the earlier adult dance class. What’s actually needed is an acknowledgement for the inconsistent policy. When I asked in the past to bring my 10-year-old for just one class, I received a strict no, hence I paid for private sessions with the Instructor so that my daughter could join me. Reasons like the close friendship of the two students in the earlier class or their long-standing relationship with the Dance Place do not justify the decision. In fact, they suggest impartiality and favoritism. Furthermore, the management's condescending attitude and defensiveness are unacceptable. While you may have skilled instructors, excelling in business and client care requires consistency and respect.

Many dance schools offer a trial class so prospective students can assess whether the teaching style, pace, and class environment are a good fit before signing up for a full term. When attending a trial, look at how the instructor engages students of different abilities, whether the level matches your or your child's current experience, and whether the class size allows for meaningful feedback. Contact The Dance Place directly via WhatsApp or phone to ask whether a trial class is available, what it costs, and whether the fee is deductible from a subsequent term enrolment. Arriving a few minutes early gives you a chance to observe the space and speak briefly with the instructor.
Instructor credentials in dance can vary widely — relevant qualifications include certifications from bodies such as the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), British Ballet Organisation (BBO), ISTD, or equivalent professional training and performance backgrounds. Years of teaching experience, competition achievements, and genre specialisations such as ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, or jazz are also worth considering. The Dance Place's instructor credentials are not listed publicly on the directory. It is advisable to ask directly about the lead instructor's training background, teaching experience, and any syllabi they follow before committing to a term.
