About The Music Shed

About "The Music Shed"

The Music Shed is a music school operating islandwide from its centre at Goldhill Centre on Thomson Road, Singapore. It is KakiList verified and ACRA registered. The school holds a perfect 5-out-of-5 rating on Google, though this is drawn from 10 reviews, so it should be treated as directional rather than conclusive. Pricing is indicated at the mid-range tier ($$), though specific per-session or monthly fees are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly with the school.

Families enquiring about lessons would typically begin by checking whether the school's offerings match the student's level and musical goals — whether that is beginner piano, grade-examination preparation, ensemble participation, or another instrument. It is worth clarifying whether tuition is available one-to-one or in small groups, whether classes are delivered in-person at the Thomson Road studio, and what the term commitment or minimum enrolment period looks like. A trial class is a reasonable first step before signing up for a term, and prospective students should ask which syllabuses the tutors are aligned to — for example ABRSM, Trinity, or LCM — as well as the teaching background and performing experience of the instructor assigned to them.

To take the next step, reach out to The Music Shed via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about instrument availability, current slot openings, and whether a trial class can be arranged before committing to a term.

The Music Shed has been an incredible place for my son’s musical journey. He started learning drums here when he was just 9 years old, and now at 15, his growth—both musically and personally—has been amazing to see. The teachers are truly dedicated and passionate. They are not just instructors, but mentors and friends—patient, nurturing, and genuinely invested in my son’s progress and well-being. This supportive environment made learning enjoyable and motivating, and my son always looked forward to his lessons under Teacher Joel. He thoroughly enjoyed his time at The Music Shed, and I’m very grateful for the positive influence the teachers have had on him over the years. I would highly recommend The Music Shed to any parent looking for a place where their child can learn music in a caring, encouraging, and inspiring environment.

My boy has been attending drumming classes at The Music Shed for the past 1 year or so. He enjoys and looks forward to his weekly lessons with Tr Joel! Besides teaching music & drum rudiments, Tr Joel also encourages my boy to choose songs that he wants to work on. They would check out the pieces, ensure that it is manageable for him too. With the Tr Joel's patience and a way with my boy, I'm looking forward to him progressing even more the coming year!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does "The Music Shed" charge per session?

The Music Shed lists its pricing in the mid-range ($$) tier, but specific per-session rates are not publicly displayed. Music tuition in Singapore typically ranges from S$30–60 per session for group classes and S$60–150 or more per session for one-to-one lessons, depending on the instrument, the tutor's experience, and lesson duration. Monthly package rates or term fees may work out more economically than booking individual sessions, and some schools charge a separate materials or registration fee at enrolment. It is worth asking whether sibling discounts or bundle packages are available, and whether the trial class carries its own fee. See the full Music Schools cost guide for Singapore →

Can I try a class before committing?

A trial class is a standard way to assess fit before signing up for a full term at a music school. During a trial, you can gauge whether the lesson pacing suits the student's current level, whether the tutor's teaching style is engaging and patient, and whether the studio environment feels comfortable. For younger children in particular, chemistry with the teacher often matters as much as technical proficiency. Contact The Music Shed directly via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to ask about trial class availability, cost, and what to bring. It is also a good opportunity to confirm the instrument, syllabus track, and slot before making a term commitment.

What are the tutors' credentials at "The Music Shed"?

Specific tutor credentials for The Music Shed are not listed in the available provider data. When enquiring, it is reasonable to ask about each tutor's formal qualifications — for instance, whether they hold a degree in music performance or music education, what grade or diploma level they have attained on their instrument, and how many years they have been teaching. For examination-track students, it is also worth confirming whether the tutor is familiar with the relevant syllabus body (ABRSM, Trinity, or LCM) and has a track record of preparing students for practical or theory examinations. If credentials are not displayed on the school's website or marketing materials, ask directly before committing to a term.
