About Timothy Sim The Good Citizen
Timothy Sim The Good Citizen is a photography and videography provider operating islandwide across Singapore, listed on KakiList with verified contact details. The service carries a 3.8/5 rating across 102 Google reviews — a robust sample that suggests a pattern worth examining before booking. Pricing sits in the mid-range ($$) and is structured as packages rather than à la carte.
Enquiries typically begin with confirming the event date, venue, and headcount so the provider can recommend an appropriate package. It is worth clarifying the number of hours of coverage, what deliverables are included (edited images, raw files, highlight reel, full-length video), the expected turnaround time for delivery, and whether a second shooter or assistant is part of the package. For weddings, confirm whether the package covers both the ROM solemnisation and the banquet, and whether a pre-wedding or tea-ceremony session is included or priced separately. Deposit on signing is the Singapore industry standard — typically 30 to 50% — with the balance due one to two weeks before the event. Ask about lead time for popular Saturdays, particularly in March, April, October, and November, which book out earliest. Clarify the travel charge policy for venues outside the central region and confirm wet-weather or contingency arrangements for any outdoor portions.
To move forward, reach out via phone or the enquiry form with your event date, venue, type of event, and approximate headcount so Timothy Sim The Good Citizen can confirm availability and send a package breakdown for your review.
Lock in the date with a written contract and deposit, confirm any HDB or condo venue paperwork requirements, and put the deliverables, turnaround time, balance schedule, and rescheduling policy in writing.
Citizen Service Center has its mixed share of reviews and today I walked in to service a watch that’s over 25yrs old. 📜 To start with, I have “known” this uncle 👨🦳 the serviceman for well over 20yrs. He has this really cool 😎 or some may think it’s a lofty 🙄attitude. 10yrs ago, I had this watch send back to Japan 🇯🇵 for a full overhaul and I was told this would be the very last time because the model is not only obsolete but has reached obsolescence. Then when the battery went flat, I send my daughter to send it in for me and was immediately turned away. Today, I tried again personally. I verbalised 🗣️ my request differently and was accepted. I told him that I know it cannot be repaired back to the same diveable 🤿 waterproof state but I will like him to just try fixing 🛠️ it and just let it be a day to day watch that I can use and still wash my hands 🙌 with. He accepted it immediately and he went about trying to fix it. It’s a small service center and a lot boils down to expectations and results. He is a very reasonable man (in my dealings) and so long as I tell him what my end expectations are, I think as a service engineer 👨🔧, he will always try. If I insisted to have this relic 🗝️ back to the same scuba diving 🤿state, I’m certain ✅ he will reject 🚫 me flat out because with no new gaskets and Oring, it will leak sooner or later and how can I hold him responsible☝️🤷♂️? I’m gonna give him 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for his service 💁♂️ level and the willingness to listen👂to me, what a customer like me wanted and the willingness to try 💪. Patience, honesty and communication. We both had a good chat 💬 while he fixed it up and I gain a friendship today. I hope, the next time he will still be there (and not retired) and still willing to save this watch ⌚️of mine which has a huge sentimental 💖 value to me.
Lunch break stated was till 1pm, went at 155pm and the place was completely deserted. The uncle was very "bo chap" about everything, acted like you owed him something, the multiple bad reviews about this service centre are completely justified. Thong Sia (seiko service centre) has much better service than this. I love citizen watches but if the service centre experience is this atrocious, it will discourage me from buying anymore citizen.
What the other reviewers commented on the uncle is true, the uncle is very rude and irresponsible. I took my Citizen watch to the sevice center located at 17 storey of OG Albert Complex, as my watch seconds hand is not inline with the minutes marker, this is not just out of sync as I noticed the seconds hand doesn't move consistently, I suspect the movement is faulty. At first, the uncle, who is about 60+ years old, with short white hair and abit plump with beer belly, pushed me back to the shop which I bought the watch from, saying because it is not bought from them, eventhough I bought from an authorized store with Citizen's international warranty. He attempted to disregard the warranty that I have. Then after he checked my warranty, he un-reluctantly take my watch and see, while I explained the issue, the uncle reply it is very accurate and no need to adjust, but the issue is visibly very obvious, I can feel he is unwilling to service my watch or perhaps he doesn't know how to fix the issue, the uncle later threatens me that if he adjust it could spoil my watch or make matter worst. He also used insulting words saying I have no brain to think the issue is not able to resolve. I am surprised to hear that, not only for the insulting comments, but also how unprofessional he is. I resist any challenging words from him and just inform him I'm willing to take the risk. Indeed, after he adjusted, some seconds hand is inline and some is not (same as before), so my suspicion is correct that the movement is faulty, I tried to explain to the uncle but he refused to listen and rejected further more actions and just brushed off saying all the watches are like that which is not true. We have an argument and he challenged me for a fight, he even come out from his office and continue to challenge me till the lift lobby, sprouting vulgar language in the process. I hope Citizen read this and do something with the uncle, I have already read about the uncle's poor attitude, but I have no choice as this is the only Citizen service center in Singapore. Why is Citizen allow such a thing to happen? Why Citizen appointed such an unprofessional vendor as the sole service center in Singapore. I loved Citizen watch, but I will not buy another Citizen again until the vendor is changed, or at least the uncle is no longer there.
Enter via OG department store. Go to the Ladies’ shoes section. You’ll see a glass door and beyond are lifts going to the 17th Flr. Had sent my Eco Drive for repair as I can’t reset it to local time. Cost $20. Service was prompt and friendly.
Took my watch in for warranty. The watch was less than 6 months old. Uncle said it was running normally. Went home, got the same issue. Took it back, same uncle. He said he “fixed” it already. We shall see if it works. In any case, I will NEVER EVER buy Citizen again. EVER.

Timothy Sim The Good Citizen prices services as packages at a mid-range ($$) level, though specific figures are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly. As a reference point, Singapore market norms for photography and videography run roughly S$2,500–6,000 and above for full-day wedding photography, S$3,000–8,000 for full-day videography, and lower for shorter-duration events such as birthday parties or baby full-month celebrations. When requesting a quote, clarify what the package includes: hours of coverage, number of photographers or videographers, edited deliverables versus raw files, turnaround time, and whether travel charges apply for non-central venues. Confirm the deposit amount (typically 30–50% on signing), the balance due date, and whether GST is included in the quoted price. See the full Photography & Videography cost guide for Singapore →
Lead time depends heavily on the event type. For weddings, popular photographers and videographers in Singapore are typically booked 6–12 months in advance, with peak Saturdays in March, April, October, and November filling earliest. If your date falls in those months, it is advisable to enquire as early as possible and secure the booking with a deposit once the package terms are agreed. For birthday parties, baby full-month or 100-day celebrations, and other one-off events, 6–12 weeks of lead time is generally sufficient, though in-demand providers may have shorter windows of availability. Confirm whether the date is firmly held only upon receipt of the deposit, and ask about the rescheduling policy if circumstances change before the event.
The Singapore industry standard for photography and videography is a non-refundable deposit of 30–50% on signing, which secures the event date and compensates the provider for holding that slot against other enquiries. The balance is typically due one to two weeks before the event. Confirm these terms in writing before transferring any funds. Ask specifically what happens if you need to reschedule — many providers allow a date change within a specified window without forfeiting the deposit, provided sufficient notice is given. Also confirm the policy if the provider is unable to attend due to illness or emergency, including whether a substitute of equivalent experience would be sent. Given that Timothy Sim The Good Citizen does not hold public liability insurance information on record, it is prudent to ask about this directly, especially if the event is held at an HDB void deck, condo function room, or hotel venue that may require a certificate of insurance.
