Chinese dance school with good dance classes for all ages. Teacher Lynn is a very knowledgeable and skilled teacher.
Zhiyun is a great place to really improve dance standard. Teacher Lynn is not only friendly, patient, she's also very detailed in the stretching and conditioning required to achieve to a certain standard. I find my dance foundation has improved under her guidance.
Great experience here. I've been sending both my kids for Chinese dance for >2 years now. Chen laoshi is a passionate, nurturing and patient teacher. She is great with kids and knows how to motivate them. Community here is helpful and close knitted. Looking forward for my kids to grow and learn more here at Zhiyun. Thank you!
I started learning ethnic dance at Zhiyun as an adult beginner with no background in Chinese dance. I really enjoy the well-structured course syllabus, with its emphasis on strengthening the fundamental skills required of each genre, then applying them in choreography. The rich syllabus also introduces students to the variety of styles within each genre, which has allowed me to appreciate ethnic dance even more. Instructors Lynn and Zhuo Qin have remarkable accomplishments to their name both as dancers and educators, and it is heartwarming to witness the immense effort and passion they put in their classes and their contributions to the local Chinese dance scene, especially in nurturing young dancers. The studio is bright and welcoming, equipped with gentle flooring, movable barres, conditioning apparatus, and treats for the little ones!
Zhiyun is a great school to embark on my classical Chinese dance learning. Not only do we get to learn a dance item choreographed by 老师 for every term, we are also being taught on the foundation of Chinese dance including Shen Yun. ShuTing 老师 is young, energetic and patient with us students. Highly recommended!

Zhiyun Chinese Dance Academy's specific per-session or monthly fees are not publicly listed, so you will need to contact them directly for current pricing. In Singapore, dance and enrichment classes for children typically range from S$30–80 per session depending on group size, level, and class duration. Monthly packages and term-based fees are common, and these often work out cheaper on a per-session basis than paying individually. It is worth asking about any registration or enrolment fees, whether there are material or costume costs, and whether sibling or multi-class discounts are available. Trial classes, if offered, may be charged separately or credited towards your first term. See the full Dance Schools cost guide for Singapore →
Many dance academies in Singapore offer a trial class before you commit to a full term, and it is worth asking Zhiyun Chinese Dance Academy whether this is available. A trial class gives you a chance to assess whether the level is appropriate for your child, how the teacher manages the class, and whether your child is genuinely engaged. During the trial, pay attention to the teacher's communication style, the pace of instruction, and how students at a similar level are progressing. If a formal trial is not offered, ask if you can observe a live session instead. Either way, confirm the term structure and cancellation policy before signing up for a longer commitment.
Credential information for the instructors at Zhiyun Chinese Dance Academy is not available in the current listing. For Chinese dance, relevant qualifications to ask about include formal training in Chinese classical or folk dance disciplines, graded examination certifications (for example from bodies such as the People's Republic of China grading system or Singapore's own arts examination frameworks), and years of performance or teaching experience. It is also useful to ask whether instructors follow a structured syllabus aligned to any examination board, and whether they have experience preparing students for assessments or stage performances. Contact the academy directly to ask for the teaching team's backgrounds before enrolling.
