Patients typically begin with an initial consultation to discuss their orthodontic concerns — whether that is teeth alignment, bite correction, crowding, or spacing — and to undergo a clinical assessment that may include X-rays, photographs, and digital scans. The clinic offers orthodontic treatment, and it is worth confirming during your first appointment which appliance options are available (traditional braces, ceramic braces, or clear aligners), the estimated treatment duration, the number of review appointments required, and whether a retainer phase is included in the quoted fee. Families with children or teenagers and adults seeking corrective treatment are both common patient profiles at orthodontic practices of this type.
To take the next step, contact Alfred Cheng Orthodontic Clinic via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to book an initial consultation and ask for a written treatment plan with itemised fees before committing to a course of treatment.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the Singapore Dental Council's public register before treatment.
I just have to say, Dr. Alfred Cheng and his clinic are absolutely fantastic! My daughter has been getting her braces done by him, and every single visit has been just amazing. It's truly heartwarming to witness how at ease she is under his care. Dr. Cheng is so calm, understanding, and really knows how to connect with his young patients. His professionalism and top-notch expertise shine through in every consultation, making us feel confident in the treatment plan. And let me tell you, his team is top-notch—always there, super friendly, and incredibly accommodating with appointment times, which honestly makes our lives so much easier. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the treatment and attention my daughter has received. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Cheng and his clinic to anyone looking for orthodontic services!
I first consulted Dr Cheng in the 2000s when I was in university and he fixed my first set of braces. After about 2 years, I had my teeth strengthened and was ready to venture into the working world. 2 decades on and owing to the sheer lack of discipline on my part to wear my retainers, my teeth shifted and a gap emerged at my lower premolars (although largely unnoticeable to most). I naturally returned to Dr Cheng to seek advice. He was extremely helpful and classified the case as a minor relapse. Even though my last consultation with him was more than 20 years ago, he kindly offered an extremely reasonable rate for me to be placed on a 6 month treatment program. I am nearing the end of treatment plan and am very pleased with the results. Dr Cheng is well known in orthodontics and extremely experienced- I recently found out that a number of my friends also sought orthodontic treatment from him as children. He is an extremely meticulous, decisive, honest and straight talking doctor. I have no hesitation recommending him and have no doubt that the best interests of his patients lie at the heart of his practice.
Always wondered if I was too old to do braces as an adult. I did my braces with Dr Cheng here 3 years ago and have no regrets since. I liked that adjustments were quick and efficient. Dr Cheng is fast with his hands and each appointment takes less than 15 minutes. This makes the process more bearable cause you know it will be over very quickly. He doesn't initiate much small talk though he is very friendly and will chat with you if you strike one. Despite that, he has a warm smile and always makes me feel at ease in his clinic. While waiting, I always see his other patients coming in and out, happy with their visit. Note that Dr Cheng doesn't do extractions or routine cleaning. For those, stick to your regular dental clinic!
I am 52 this year and I consulted Dr Cheng when I was 50 but I didn’t proceed then. Consulted him again a year ago and went ahead with the braces and after 1.5 years of wearing it, I removed the braces today and it was one of the best things I have done for myself. The gap in between my teeth is gone! I have several implants and other dentists I consulted told me they have to be removed and to be redone. Dr Cheng is the only one who told me confidently that he will go around it and he will still be able to adjust the bite and close the gap I want. He and his team are very efficient, detailed and each appointment was quick and precise and got the job done. I am always in and out within 10 mins and for someone with a packed calendar this is much appreciated. I am so glad I chose him :)
Dr Cheng is always very professional and patient when handling my teeth. His braces adjustments sessions are v fast as well and I can see the improvements in my teeth with each session. Glad to be doing my braces with him!

Orthodontic treatment is typically quoted as a total course fee rather than a per-session rate. In Singapore, comprehensive braces or clear aligner treatment commonly ranges from S$3,500 to S$8,000 or more depending on case complexity, appliance type, and treatment duration. The initial consultation may be charged separately (typically S$80–150) or waived if treatment proceeds. Confirm whether the quoted fee covers all follow-up adjustment appointments, X-rays and scans taken during treatment, and the retainer phase at the end — these are sometimes billed separately. GST applies. Ask for a written breakdown before signing any treatment agreement. See the full dental cost guide for Singapore →
A referral is not required to book a consultation at a private orthodontic clinic in Singapore, though some patients are referred by their general dentist after a routine check. At the first visit, expect a full orthodontic assessment — clinical examination, dental X-rays (OPG and cephalometric), intraoral photographs, and possibly a digital scan — so the orthodontist can diagnose the issue and propose a treatment plan. If you have a complex medical history, are on blood thinners, or have active gum disease, flag this at the time of booking. Active periodontal disease typically needs to be treated by a periodontist before orthodontic work begins. Bring any recent dental records or X-rays you have, as these may reduce the need for repeat imaging.
Orthodontists in Singapore are registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) under the Dental Registration Act, and specialist orthodontists hold an additional listing on the SDC's specialist register. You can verify any dental practitioner's registration — including specialist status — on the SDC's public register at hprg.gov.sg before your appointment. Confirm that the treating clinician is on the SDC specialist register as an orthodontist, as this is distinct from a general dentist who provides some orthodontic services. Professional indemnity insurance is a standard requirement for SDC-registered practitioners. If you have any doubt, request the practitioner's full name and SDC registration number at the time of booking.
