Dr. Chong is very kind and patient. She provides professional and thoughtful advice, with diagnoses that are logical and reasonable. Her treatments are meticulous, making patients feel assured and at ease. The clinic environment is clean, bright, and comfortable. However(It might be due to my lack of knowledge), the Vitamin B12 they sell is priced ten times higher than the market rate. They also did not proactively inform me that I could purchase it elsewhere, only stating that if I bought it outside, they "could not guarantee its effectiveness." After several discussions, I have every reason to believe that once you choose to purchase it elsewhere, the quality of your medical care may no longer be assured. It is truly regrettable. I believe the balance between medical ethics and business operations should be re-evaluated.
I would like to give an honest and thorough review of my experience at Ardmore Orthopaedics. I went to them via a word of mouth recommendation by a friend as I was experiencing knee pain. The space was clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Dr Chong was kind and genial, reassuring me in her dedication to and positive belief in helping all her patients return to healthy and active conditions. I was referred to an MRI scan which I could do very quickly (on the same day, if I recall correctly) and on the same floor, just down the hall. My treatment plan was as follows. I was prescribed a leg brace. I was not informed of its cost until I was about to purchase it (about $300). It is a very steep cost and admittedly I could have opted not to pay for it - but I definitely would have appreciated a more open conversation on its cost and alternatives *before* going through the routine and care instructions for the brace. I understand that business costs are high, but greater client-focused transparency would have given me greater trust in the clinic. I was told to follow a physiotherapy routine. Should that fail, I would undergo hyaluronic acid injections; the last resort would be surgery. While I do believe that Dr Chong is well-meaning, I cannot vouch for her physiotherapy prescriptions for my knee osteoarthritis. In fact, I think I might have worsened my knees doing this routine for a few months. (I have since switched to an actual physiotherapist and have seen much more rapid improvement.) I was told to sit hold up my legs as an isometric exercise for my quads. I was also told to hold a yoga block with my leg against a table for to strengthen my VMO. First of all, Dr Chong is a doctor and not a physiotherapist, so I cannot expect her to have the same procedure as one. However, 1) the guidance on the moves felt shoddy and incomplete. She did not walk through the movements with me from start to finish, making sure I really knew what I was doing. The instructions could take 5-10 minutes unless I had questions. ($130 for this is incredibly steep.) 2) The follow up was also shoddy. There was no real sense of progression or scaling of moves. I had to bring up questions to ask how I could improve moves; she did not take the initiative to recommend a progression or even an end goal, so I felt like I was stuck in leg-raising-VMO-pressing purgatory, lol. 3) The scaling also did not make sense. From sitting and raising my legs for an undefined number of minutes?, I was then told to *hold lunges on each side for 4 minutes*. I followed this and my knees *deteriorated*. My legs were absolutely NOT conditioned for this level of exercise at this point. Once again, Dr Chong did not walk me through the full 4 minutes; it was a quick diagnosis. I must also add that I was once dismissed from my 2nd session because I had not taken the prescribed 1-week course of painkillers. The clinic's reasoning was that the painkillers were supposed to bring down inflammation in my knees; without having taken them, I would not be able to know if the level of pain I felt was reducing as a result of physiotherapy being sufficient(?). I paid for a whole session that felt like a waste until I asked how I could improve my physiotherapy; I was told to slightly change my VMO exercise - once again, without any sense of actual progression or markers for knowing my improvement. In summary, I am afraid I can't say I had the best experience at Ardmore Orthopaedics. Once again, they do have their perks. Dr Chong is clearly enthusiastic about helping her patients recover. However, I cannot recommend their methods from my experience with knee osteoarthritis. It felt *extremely* expensive for the confusing and inefficient treatment I received. I would like to echo another reviewer in saying that I feel a review of this clinic's business ethics would be beneficial. Please be open and transparent with your clients about your exclusive pricing. I would advise other patients to consider other options if you also feel unclear about your treatment plan.
After being under the care of another orthopaedic for one year and suddenly being advised to go for surgery, I was fortunate to find Dr. Chong Xue Ling. She was incredibly patient and demonstrated great astuteness in her diagnosis, accurately pinpointing the root causes of my issues. Through her diagnosis, I was able to experience a more holistic recovery plan without surgery. Her recommended recovery plan was thoughtfully designed around my personal lifestyle, which slowly helped me regain the confidence to continue doing what I enjoy. Highly recommend her expertise and care!
Dr Chong cares for her patient not on just the initial stage of consultation, subsequently after physiotherapy. Advising on reverting back to exercise regime gently and gradually together with propose postures. Thank you for the higher level of clinical care.
I have visited Dr. Chong and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Dr. Chong was incredibly attentive, thorough, and compassionate. She took the time to listen to all my concerns and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. The office was clean and well-organized, and the staff was friendly and efficient. I felt genuinely cared for, and I appreciated that Dr. Chong went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and informed throughout the process. I would highly recommend Dr. Chong to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring physician.
