About "ASCA Chess"
ASCA Chess is a chess enrichment provider operating islandwide from its centre at United Square, Singapore. It holds a KakiList verified status and carries a Google rating of 4.6 out of 5 across 62 reviews — a moderate sample that provides a reasonable directional signal. Pricing is indicated at the mid-range tier ($$), though specific per-session or package fees are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly.
Parents and students interested in joining should enquire about level and syllabus fit — whether the programme caters to complete beginners, intermediate club players, or those preparing for rated tournaments. It is worth asking whether classes are conducted in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as this affects both pace and cost. Clarify whether a trial class is available before committing to a term, and confirm the term length, payment schedule, and any materials or registration fees involved. For those outside the United Square area, ask whether online sessions or outreach classes at other locations are offered, given the islandwide coverage indicated.
To take the next step, reach out to ASCA Chess via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about current class schedules, available levels, and trial class arrangements before committing to a term.

Teacher Sebastian is really patient with the children and my kid is enjoying all his classes for the past year. The teachers are well trained, the administration is responsive. They run a tight ship in the limited space they have at Novena. They know what they are doing and how to get to the kids. Maybe chess really can be taught at 3!
Teacher Kevin is a gem! My child has been learning chess with Teacher Kevin at Three Chess Singapore, and the progress has been amazing. He’s incredibly patient, encouraging, and explains strategies in a way that’s fun and easy to grasp—even for young beginners. You can tell he truly cares about each student’s growth, not just as chess players but as thinkers. The sessions are always engaging, and my child looks forward to every class. Thank you, Teacher Kevin, for making chess such a meaningful and enjoyable journey!
Signed my child for the chess class and he enjoyed it tremendously. They make it fun for children to learn. Recommended!
We have two children attending this program. Chess at Three does an amazing job keeping kids engaged in the game with fun stories and variant games to keep things fresh for the kids while also teaching core chess knowledge. The staff not only knows their chess, but also know how to help kids learn universal values like handling loss, perseverance, thinking creatively/outside the box, and also how to get along well in groups during competitive play. My kids come away with actual tactical knowledge for real chess tournaments while also telling me stories about the different chess “characters” and what adventures they had during the class. In the past, we had gone to a traditional chess school (which was great!) but the kids could be engaged/disengaged depending on the day. With this program, the kids are always excited to go and view it as fun rather than a form of tutoring/homework. Creating a love for the game I think makes it more likely they will stick with it and become proficient with their skills. Plus they have a fun ‘Birchguard’ quest (separate from the chess lessons), which is like a role playing critical thinking adventure that the kids love. The camps and tournaments are also lots of fun. Highly recommended!
It is more of a storytelling class rather than chess. If you’re looking for your child to learn chess this is not the place, the coaches can barely play chess. If you’re looking for a very fun story telling session this is it, the coaches are really good at their craft at storytelling. I guess we didn’t read the fine print.

ASCA Chess lists its pricing at the mid-range tier, but specific per-session, monthly package, or term fee figures are not publicly published. In the Singapore enrichment market, chess classes typically range from S$30–60 per session for group classes and S$80–150 per session for one-to-one coaching. Term-based packages often work out cheaper on a per-session basis than drop-in rates. It is worth asking upfront whether there is a separate registration or materials fee, and whether sibling or multi-term discounts apply. Confirm the full cost in writing before committing. Many chess enrichment providers in Singapore offer a trial class, sometimes at a reduced fee, to let the student and family assess fit before signing up for a full term. During a trial, look at whether the level is appropriately matched to the child's existing knowledge, how the coach manages the group, and whether the student is genuinely engaged throughout. It is also useful to observe teaching style — some coaches focus on tactical puzzles and competitive play, while others emphasise the cognitive and patience-building aspects of the game. Ask ASCA Chess directly about their trial class policy, the cost involved, and what the session covers, so you can make a well-informed decision before committing to a term.
Credential information for ASCA Chess coaches is not publicly listed on the directory at this time. When enquiring, it is reasonable to ask about the coaches' playing background — for instance, whether they hold a FIDE rating or have competed at national or international level — as well as their experience teaching children of the relevant age group. For structured competitive preparation, it is also worth asking whether the programme aligns with the Singapore Chess Federation's junior development pathways or prepares students for rated tournaments. If credentials are important to your decision, ask ASCA Chess directly for this information before booking.
