When it comes to something personal, I always choose a small business. Not just because I want to support SMEs (it's very, very hard to run a small business in Singapore), but because I know I’ll get the most customised, thoughtful experience, usually from the person who cares the most: the business owner. Would I go to a fashion chain store to look for a suit I wear every day? That’s what makes August Optometrist special. The shop is run by Avenlyn, the owner herself. She works tirelessly six days a week, from day to night. It’s genuinely a one-woman operation from customer service, eye assessment, consultation, helping you find the right pair, to after-sales support. One person, one relationship, someone you can count on. You can tell her service comes from years of experience in eyewear, but more importantly, from a passionate desire to help you find what works best for your life, whether it’s for reading, work, or daily living. When I first saw the tagline “Your vision, our passion”, I honestly thought this may be a little cheesy or over-promising. I was proven entirely wrong! You don’t just hear her passion, you feel it in the way she takes time, explains clearly, and genuinely wants to get your vision right. If you’re looking for glasses and want a solution that’s truly tailored to you, come here. There’s no need to LOOK anywhere else (pun intended, cheesily). Simple as that.

Definitely a 5 star review based on my experience getting my first glasses with august optometrist. I came in as Avenlyn was closing the store and realised i was looking to get my glasses and she reopened for my sake. She then guided me through in detail as i was testing my eyesight and turns out my astigmatism was pretty high for a low degree eyesight, she even assisted me with picking my frames with what would look nice with me and advices me on the kinds of lenses there is that helps with UV and lights when driving and honestly i dont think theres really any other store that helps u thoroughly to get your perfect lenses. Avenlyn really helped me alot just by guiding me and answering questions about the lenses, it was really easy and smooth talking to her cause i dont feel anxious asking questions knowing i dont really know anything about glasses. Alot of people recommended me to go stores such as lenskart and whatnot but im glad i went here to get my first pair. Very delightful and easygoing experience and i highly recommend august optometrist if you looking to get yours too. Prices are affordable and theres so much lenses to choose from that suits your face shape and any age. They also accept CDC vouchers. If you in the area of Telok Blangah or VivoCity and looking to get your pair of glasses, head down there and try it for yourself. You won’t regret it🙌🏻

It was serendipitous that I entered the store due to issues with my spectacles and eyesight. Avenlyn, the owner, helped me resolve them and I have no issues even a year later. Her service is impeccable and she only recommends stuff on the basis of need. Avenlyn did a very thorough check on my eyes and I definitely appreciated her meticulous examination. I did not feel rushed and I felt that I was in capable hands. My friends and relatives went to her based on my recommendation and they have nothing but praise for her. She did not encourage one of my relatives to get progressive lens after checking her eyes as the latter did not require it. This was so honest and ethical of her to do so! Moreover, Avenlyn has a curated range of spectacles that appeal to people from all age groups. She even sells special glasses for cyclists! CDC vouchers can be used here and even without them, the prices are reasonable, even more so when there are promotions going on. Avenlyn is a gem and I am definitely entrusting my eyes in her care!

I saw this newly pop up eyewear store and it has cozy interior vibes so I decided to drop by and have a look since I'm also looking to make some glasses for myself. The store display an array of nice and unique design of spectacles and I am spoilt for choices too. The prices it offers is quite affordable since mine includes with the thin blue light lenses. The staff service is also lovely and she has been a delight from recommending me frames that suits my face, making sure the eyecheck process is comfortable and smooth until it is time for payment. She isn't pushy too so that's a plus point in my books as it can be a turn off sometimes. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to visit this store again.

I used to hear how progressive glasses could be difficult to adapt to or be too unaffordable. However, seeing August Optometrist’s promotional flyer that said ‘enhanced comfort’ and ‘easy adaptation’, I decided to give it a try. And I was sold since after trying on my first pair with them. When I was first there, I was much impressed by their range of frame choices and Avenlyn’s patience and eye for detail. Don’t be fooled by her youthful looks; she has an impressive record of 20 years of experience in this field❕🤩 This certainly explains why my first pair of progressive glasses led to my second pair the following month. (See my photos!) And there is also the contact lens option (daily or monthly) for progressive needs too… I didn’t know that! 😲 There is something for everyone (kids, adults & older adults) and for every need, be it a pair of glasses, lenses or shades. Simply put, if you live or work (or just happen to be) in Telok Blangah, Alexandra, Henderson, or in city area, drop by August Optometrist for a chat or a check❕ It’s just right opposite Telok Blangah Station, a station stop away from HarbourFront/ VivoCity… and a stone throw away from Mapletree Business City/ Alexandra Retail Centre.
