I have been going to Ava for years to have regular check ups as I am at risk for glaucoma, and I have been consistently impressed by the level of professionalism and patience shown by Dr Audrey Looi and her team. The clinic is so well managed, with new modern equipment and hospital grade hygiene standards. I did corrective ptosis surgery with Audrey in Jan 2024, and I’m writing this review 2 years after the surgery. I’ve had the heart and confidence to write this only after finding another doctor who managed to fix the damage done by her. After she did the first op on 11 Jan 2024, it was clear that the left eye ptosis was not done properly. Thus, she performed a second surgery on my left eye, 7 days after the previous op. This was done in her clinic and not an operating theatre, without propofol so I was completely awake, and this was honestly traumatising. During the consultation and surgery, she would also make comments like “can you open your eyes bigger, you look like you’re going to sleep” — which is baffling, considering that I’m going to her to fix my ptosis which causes droopy, sleepy-looking eyes. The final result was disastrous: extremely thick, sausage-like eyelids, incisions cut far above my natural eye line, and eyelids pulled back so tightly that my eyes looked harsh, unnatural, and dated — like bad cosmetic surgery from the 80s. All this for SGD 17,000. When I raised concerns, she insisted her work was “very beautiful”, even though I relayed to her that the feedback I was getting was blunt: people said my eyelids looked like they had been cut with a knife — overly deep, aggressive, and unnatural. Even after a year into my surgery, people were still asking me if I did eyelid surgery. That was how badly done it was. This shows just how completely disconnected from reality she can be regarding her work. (Pictures 1-3) I had to live with those disgusting eyes for an entire year. I was self-conscious and I didn’t want to take photos of myself. In April 2025, after waiting for the mandatory 1 year rest time, I managed to find a surgeon in Korea who specialises in revision cases. Using a double-line correction method, he spent 4 hours undoing the damage done by Audrey. The cost was SGD 6,000 — the difference in both skill and outcome was astounding. He saved me from the horrible sausage and weird looking eyes.(Pictures 4-5) Although my current eyes would have been better had it not been screwed up so badly by her. This shows how limited options and inflated prices are in Singapore. The landscape in Singapore allows doctors and clinics to charge a hefty buck for sub-par or screwed up results. In Korea, you pay a fraction of the cost for average to decent results, coming from someone who did eyelid surgery with 3 different doctors in Korea. None of them screwed up to this extent as Audrey did. I strongly urge anyone considering this clinic to proceed with extreme caution. She simply just can't do aesthetic surgeries.
