Ask about a trial class to gauge teaching style and whether the pace suits your child before committing to a term. It is also worth clarifying the class schedule, whether sessions are held at the East Coast Road centre or online, and what the term commitment and materials requirements look like.
To take the next step, reach out to Chalk Academy via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about current class availability, confirm the level and syllabus fit for your child, and arrange a trial class before signing up for a full term.

Teacher Leroy is such a kind, patient, and caring teacher. He guided his students consistently and always took the extra time to make sure they really understood. My son improved a lot in composition writing, tricky grammar rules, and overall exam skills. He understands the PSLE marking scheme very well, what I appreciated most was his detailed composition marking. He didn’t just give marks, he went through every sentence, pointed out exactly where the mistakes were, and explained how to fix them. This really helped my son understand his weaknesses and become more alert to avoid making the same mistakes. I’m truly grateful to The Chalkboard Academy for understanding my son’s needs and for giving him both academic and emotional support throughout his PSLE preparation. Many thanks to Teacher Leroy and his team!
My son attended P5 & P6 online classes at The Chalkboard Academy. Tr Leroy is a dedicated, passionate, and experienced teacher. He delivered clear explanations and equipped students with techniques to confidently handle Paper 2. Besides, he put in great effort to mark Paper 1 with personalized and constructive feedback, and consistently encouraged students to reach their full potential. My son improved not only in structuring his stories, but also in applying proper grammar and vocabulary, which made a noticeable difference in his continuous writing. We truly appreciate Tr Leroy’s commitment and the positive impact he has had on our son’s learning journey. Many thanks to Hui Hsien for her great support and prompt assistance too.
We are very grateful for Teacher Leroy’s guidance and dedication. My child’s English improved tremendously after joining his class in Primary 6. In the P5 EOY exam, she scored AL3, and in less than a year, she achieved AL1 in the PSLE. Teacher Leroy is encouraging and very effective in teaching key exam techniques. He helped build my child’s confidence, especially in composition writing and comprehension skills. We truly appreciate his efforts and highly recommend him to any parent looking for a committed and capable English tutor.
Online class really works for my child and Teacher Leroy is also very passionate about his work. He sets up fun games at the start of the class for students to learn more and encourages friendly competition. Teacher Leroy is very experienced and his explanation of composition writing is suited for both strong and weaker students. His feedback is very constructive for compositions, encouraging students to be creative in their stories while keeping it to school’s needed A standards. He teaches annotations for comprehension to help find answers systematically and covers oral practices (which has relatively heavy weightage for PSLE). Overall, important components for exams are covered frequently, boosting student’s confidence and thus performance. Efficient admin completes the whole experience at this centre. Thank you!
Chalkboard Academy is truly an underrated enrichment centre. Teacher Leroy is a very disciplined and dedicated teacher whose explanations are clear and straight to the point. He does not rely on fancy materials; instead he focuses on what truly matters. As a former MOE teacher, he knows exactly what PSLE markers are looking for. Jaden genuinely enjoyed attending his lessons because they helped him significantly, especially in composition writing and Paper 2 editing. He eventually scored AL1 for his PSLE, and we are very grateful to have found Chalkboard Academy!

Chalk Academy displays a mid-range price indicator, though specific per-session fees are not published on this listing. In Singapore, enrichment classes typically range from S$30–80 per session for group formats and S$60–150 or more for one-to-one tuition, depending on the subject, level, and tutor credentials. Monthly packages and term-based bundles are common and often work out at a lower per-session rate than ad hoc bookings. Ask about any trial class fee, whether materials or workbooks are charged separately, and whether sibling or package discounts apply. Confirm the full cost — including any registration or admin fee — before committing to a term. See the full enrichment classes cost guide for Singapore →
Many enrichment providers in Singapore offer a trial class, either at a reduced fee or at the standard per-session rate, before you commit to a full term. A trial is the most reliable way to assess whether the teaching style suits your child, whether the pace and level are appropriate, and whether your child feels comfortable in the environment. When attending a trial, observe how the tutor handles questions, how engaged the other students are, and whether the content aligns with your child's school syllabus or learning goals. Contact Chalk Academy directly to confirm their trial class policy and any associated cost.
Tutor credentials are not listed in Chalk Academy's current profile. When evaluating an enrichment provider, it is worth asking directly about the tutors' educational background, whether they have NIE training or prior MOE teaching experience, and how long they have been teaching the subject. For syllabus-aligned programmes, confirm whether the content tracks MOE, IB, IGCSE, or another curriculum. Years of experience teaching a specific level — for example, Primary or Secondary school — and familiarity with the current exam format can matter as much as formal qualifications. Ask Chalk Academy directly about the tutors assigned to your child's class before committing to a term. Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
