About Chong Medical Centre

About Chong Medical Centre

Chong Medical Centre is a general practice clinic located at 190 Clemenceau Ave, #01-29/30, Singapore 239924, serving patients across the island. KakiList has verified the clinic's operating details and contact channel. The clinic holds a 3.4/5 rating across 38 Google reviews — a moderate sample that suggests room for variability in patient experience.

Patients visiting a GP clinic typically walk in or call ahead to book a consultation for acute illnesses, chronic disease management, health screening, or repeat prescriptions. At a private GP, first consultations generally run S$25–60 before investigations and prescriptions are added. Singapore Citizens and PRs managing chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidaemia may claim under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which allows MediSave 500/700 outpatient withdrawal for listed conditions. Those with Integrated Shield Plans should confirm whether outpatient GP visits fall within their plan's cover. For specialist referrals, a GP-issued letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) typically reduces the first consultation to S$30–80 for subsidised patients, with non-urgent wait times of four to twelve weeks.

Came here on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm for very bad back sprain. I was worried it was a slipped disc. Clinic staff were very friendly and pleasant. A short form to be filled in as it was my first time at the clinic. Clinic staff took down my insurance particulars as well. Fast and fuss free. After a short wait, I saw Dr Chong. After a quick assessment and taking down my history he prescribed my medication and took the time to explain how a slipped disc would present itself. This was outside of what I was diagnosed with and a brief fyi so I knew what to look out for to be aware. Medicine was very effective and worked within the hour. Dr Chong’s bedside manner is impeccable. I was very worried and in pain. He very quickly determined the cause and reassured me. Very grateful to Dr Chong. Would definitely recommend this clinic. Cannot comment on price as firstly I don’t think you can put an adequate price on a doctor’s medical opinion and the expertise that Dr Chong brings with all his years of experience. Secondly I have insurance so I am covered.

It IS VERY VERY BAD. I was dying with fever and went to the doctor. There was no one in queue, no one in doctor’s room. I WAITED 35 minutes. I was lying almost unconscious on the sofa but the old auntie at reception did nothing. I asked if doctor can see me not? She replied “doctor will see you when he is ready” Turned out, doctor did not know that there were patients at the door dying and waiting to see him. The experience with nurse and doctor are really very very very bad. DO NOT TRY TO COME UNLESS YOU REALLY NEED IT BADLY.

Dr Chong is a wonderful physician who has looked after my family for decades. He always takes time and doesn't rush. He's mindful of charging more than necessary. Puts people ahead of profits. I don't understand the 1-star reviews as maybe they don't know the doctor well enough. Thank you for reading my review. PS: I just got back from his clinic and he didn't even charge me for consultation. A generous doctor with a heart of gold.

i had the rudest encounter with their front staff on the phone. She has no basic etiquette of picking up the phone with a decent mention of the Clinic, just a hello hello like as if it was her house phone and she hung up. After calling for the 2nd time, she picked up again and i asked if she could hear me - her response - I CAN HEAR YOU BUT YOU ARE NOT TALKING TO ME. i was stunned at her twist of words. she went on by sighing and went - ok so WHAT DO YOU WANT? needless to say - I don't even have the mood to speak or enquire about their clinic services. Please educate your front staff or those that handle your phone calls with kindness and proper etiquette.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Chong Medical Centre charge?

At a private GP clinic, a standard consultation typically runs S$25–60, with follow-up visits at the lower end of that range. On top of the consultation fee, expect to pay separately for investigations such as a blood panel (S$60–200), urine tests, or a throat swab, as well as for any prescribed medications dispensed at the clinic. For patients managing chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), MediSave 500/700 outpatient withdrawal limits may offset part of the bill. Integrated Shield Plans generally do not cover GP outpatient visits unless the plan includes an outpatient rider. GST applies on private medical services. Contact Chong Medical Centre directly by phone to confirm current consultation fees and any investigation costs before your visit. See the full GP & 24-Hour Clinics cost guide for Singapore →

Is Chong Medical Centre MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

No MOH Healthcare Services Licence or Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration has been confirmed in the listing data for Chong Medical Centre. Every legitimate clinic premises should hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act, verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. Every practising doctor should appear on the SMC public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm registration status, specialist accreditation, and any disciplinary history. Given that neither licence is listed here, patients should verify both the clinic licence and the consulting doctor's SMC entry directly before booking. Contact the clinic by phone to request the licence number and the named doctor's details, then cross-check on the MOH and SMC public directories. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Chong Medical Centre?

For outpatient GP visits, MediSave can be used under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) for listed chronic conditions — hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, stroke, asthma, COPD, and selected mental health conditions among others — subject to the S$500/year (or S$700/year with CDMP) outpatient withdrawal limit. Standard acute GP visits without a CDMP diagnosis are generally not MediSave-claimable at this withdrawal tier. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life typically cover private specialist and inpatient care; outpatient GP cover requires a specific outpatient or day rider. Confirm with your insurer whether your plan includes outpatient GP reimbursement before assuming you can claim. Contact Chong Medical Centre directly by phone to confirm which MediSave and insurance schemes are accepted at the clinic, and request itemised receipts for any investigations or prescriptions so you can submit claims accurately.
