I wrote this with deep gratitude. When I first met Wendy Ng, physiotherapist at SSMC, I wasn’t even running 100 metres. (Well… unless I was chasing a bus or late for an appointment 😅). I couldn’t even stand on a sloped travellator without pain in my injured knee. I first saw Wendy in August 2024. At that point, I was already 1.5 years post-injury, hadn’t jogged or run at all, and was averaging fewer than 5,000 steps a day. Four months later, I jogged 10km. This meant everything to me. I used to run full marathons and have completed over 10 half marathons—so this injury hit me hard. Wendy didn’t just guide me with exercises. She applied a biopsychosocial approach, recognising how deeply the mind and body are connected. By addressing both, my physical performance improved in ways I didn’t expect. She told me that when she works with someone in pain, she’s not just treating the injury—but also listening to the story behind it: - What is the life they want to return to? - What is the life she can help them reclaim? Today, I’m back to almost all of my pre-injury activities—and doing so without pain. I’m incredibly thankful for Wendy’s care, insight, and dedication. 🙏🏻
Quality used to be 5-star, even during covid pandemic. But for my first physio session of 2024, i waited on-site for 1 hour before the reception told me that the physio was on MC...and that was only after i went to ask them if the physio would be coming. If i didn't have another appointment around Novena earlier on the same day, it would have been a totally wasted trip. Administration, staffing awareness and communication can be vastly improved - how can you not know your physio is on MC for the day until a customer asks you whether they will be coming and then you start trying to phone them? For every organization i have worked with, my boss would be asking questions if he noticed i wasn't at my desk. At least do a roll-call every morning to confirm that the on-duty physios will be coming down so that you can notify customers as soon as possible, instead of customers having to ask you if the physio will be in. While i was sitting there for an hour, i heard a lot of typical office-type idle chatter. If you have time to do idle talk, you have time to do better staff management. On the other hand, the 2 different doctors who have attended to me for 2 separate injuries have been nothing less than 5-star excellent. And there is a very nice outdoor waiting area as well (see photos). So like another of the reviews for this organization, this review's star rating is applicable just for the drop in admin side quality only. If i had been left alone to wait any longer, it would have been 1-star..... Update Apr 2024 : well, it happened again. 3pm appt and SSMC admin called me at 1pm ( 1255pm to be precise) to tell me physio cancelled. If i didn't schedule another appointment in town based on past experience, this would have been a wasted trip. You really should improve your admin peoples' management of the physiotherapist daily-attendance-taking. Dropped a star because of this so now 1star rating. Really cannot recommend this place anymore, which is a shame because the doctors are all excellent. It's the admin procedures and resource management that is bad.
Just writing this review on my 1st year anniversary post shoulder surgery. It was a long road of recovery but I am so thankful that I had the best care from Emilia the physio therapist who is not only so patience with me but she understand my needs and expectation clearly and work towards it. Always so look forward to my session with her not only she could ease my muscle tightness but she also never judge me for missing my daily exercise. Carina the message therapist is great too! Not to mention the ladies at receptionist who are very efficient and fast. Glad I made a full recovery and will definitely recommend everyone who needs!
My experience with the doctor is satisfactory. My grouse is with the physio therapist appointment. I have been cancelled twice 24 hours before the physio appointments. The physiotherapist appointments are quite limiting and most of them are during office hours and I had to take leave to attend them. I gave up after the first session with the physio.
The interior design is nice and the gym is huge. The doctor, Dr Ng is quite patient and thorough. I like that the doctor's room has an ultrasound machine which can be used immediately to check for muscle strains during consultation. However I'm giving 2 stars because I dislike the appointment booking for physiotherapy sessions and the physio that I was assigned to. It's super hard and very frustrating to get an appointment. This is because not all physios are always present at the clinic e.g. some physios only work Monday, Tue and Sat, with Sat fully booked. The physiotherapist that I saw also tried to be my psychiatrist and didn't do much hands on work. Finally I've switched to other physios who follow up with WhatsApp.
