For new patients, the typical journey begins with a first consultation covering a clinical examination and, where indicated, dental X-rays to assess oral health before any treatment is recommended. Patients with specific concerns — whether routine scaling and polishing, restorative work, or cosmetic treatment — should describe their presenting issue when making an appointment so the appropriate time slot can be reserved. Returning patients should confirm whether their dentist is available on their preferred day and whether the practice accepts their dental insurance or corporate benefit plan.
To make an appointment, contact Gentle Dental Care by phone or through the enquiry form on their listing, and confirm the first-visit process, any consultation fee, and whether your dental plan is accepted before attending.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
Dr. Austin Chan did an amazing job with my wisdom tooth surgical removal. I have a very strong gag reflex, and he truly did his 100% to calm me down and make me feel comfortable throughout the whole procedure. Together with his assistant (I unfortunately forgot to ask her name), they were incredibly patient and supportive. He even used some acupuncture techniques to help me relax, which I really appreciated. The whole experience was much smoother than I expected. Outstanding work. I’m so happy and feel blessed to finally get this done. I’m very thankful to Dr. Chan and his assistant. Highly recommended!
We brought our 1‑year‑old in for her very first dental visit, and the experience was wonderful. Dr. Melissa was incredibly patient and gentle, making our little one feel at ease right away. She has a natural way with children and explained dental care clearly, giving us practical advice we can follow at home. We left feeling reassured and confident about our baby’s dental health. Highly recommend!
I had the most wonderful experience here. I’ve always been fearful of going to dental but the staffs and especially Dr JD were really friendly and made my dental journey a very pleasant one. I recommend all my family and friends to come here. Thank you so much and I’m so glad I found Dr jd!
Brought my 5yo kid to see Dr Joanne Ou today who used to scream and kick when she saw dentists. Surprisingly, she feels very relaxed with Dr Joanne’s soft and gentle explanations and can get the tooth filings done! She even said Dr Joanne is the best dentist in Singapore and in the world. Most importantly, she is not scared of seeing dentist anymore because of Dr Joanne!
I have been doing invisilign treatment with Dr Melissa. Amazingly patient doctor who is compassionate and understanding. I used to dread having to go to the dentist but Dr Melissa and the team try their best to make it a comfortable experience by always checking on me to ensure I am alright throughout the treatment.

Dental fees in Singapore vary significantly by procedure. A routine consultation typically runs S$30–80, scaling and polishing S$80–150, a tooth extraction S$80–300 (surgical extractions higher), composite fillings S$150–300 per tooth, and crown or implant work can range from S$1,500 to S$4,000+ per unit. GST applies on dental services. Gentle Dental Care's pricing is listed in the mid-range tier, but exact fees depend on the treatment required and should be confirmed at the consultation. Medisave can be used for approved surgical procedures such as surgical extractions and certain oral surgeries, but not for routine scaling, fillings, or consultations. Corporate dental benefit plans and insurance riders may offset some costs — confirm coverage directly with your insurer before your visit. See the full dental cost guide for Singapore →
No referral is required to book a first appointment at a general dental practice. Most clinics ask new patients to complete a short medical history form covering systemic conditions (diabetes, blood-thinning medication, heart conditions) that may affect treatment, so arriving a few minutes early is advisable. For more complex treatment — orthodontics, implants, or oral surgery — the general dentist may refer you to a specialist after the initial assessment. If you have a dental phobia or require sedation, mention this when booking so the practice can advise on their capabilities. GP referrals are not needed for dental care, though some corporate insurance plans require a pre-authorisation letter for higher-value procedures before work begins.
All dentists practising in Singapore must be registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC), which sits under the Ministry of Health. Registration is verifiable on the SDC's online public register at hprof.gov.sg. The clinic premises must also hold a MOH Private Hospital and Medical Clinics (PHMC) licence or the equivalent licence under the Healthcare Services Act. Gentle Dental Care does not currently list its regulatory licences on this KakiList profile. Before attending, patients are advised to confirm the consulting dentist's name and SDC registration number directly with the clinic, and verify it on the SDC register. This is a standard check and a straightforward request for any reputable practice to accommodate. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
