Prospective students or parents should begin by enquiring about the appropriate level and programme fit — whether that is a beginner class for a young child, a youth development track, or an adult programme. It is worth asking whether group classes or more personalised instruction are available, what the term commitment looks like, and how classes are structured in terms of progression. Confirming the class schedule, age groupings, and any uniform or equipment requirements before enrolling will help set clear expectations.
To take the next step, reach out to Gracie Barra Singapore via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form listed on their profile to ask about current class availability, programme details, and any trial class options.
Take the trial class and confirm the instructor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
Had a wonderful experience with Gracie Barra Singapore. I brought a youth there and it was such a positive and encouraging environment for him. The instructors were patient, attentive, and professional — firm yet kind. They created a safe space for learning while instilling discipline, respect, and confidence. It was heartening to see how engaged and motivated he was throughout the session. Beyond just learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, he gained resilience, focus, and a sense of belonging. Truly grateful for the team’s dedication and heart for developing youths. Highly recommended for parents looking for a structured and empowering activity for their children!
I started BJJ at Gracie Barra Singapore in January 2021. Looking back at the old photos, I was so small, but I’ve learned a lot and grown so much since then. Training with Prof Bruno is always fun! He motivates us, and makes sure we’re improving every class and always end the class with a good game. I love that he is respectful and funny and also strict when he needs to be. BJJ has helped me become more focused and responsible, and I’ve made some of my best friends here. Thank you Prof Bruno, Prof Kon, Coach Azlynn, and all the GBS coaches for everything! (Also, I still can’t do a cartwheel. I know Prof Bruno’s been waiting for it. Don’t worry, I’ll get there one day!)
My daughter, Sophia, has been training at Gracie Barra Singapore since January 2023 when she was 7, and she has been loving every step of the journey. She looks forward to every class, just because of the skills she’s learning, but also because the environment is so positive and fun. At the end of each lesson, the kids get to enjoy some games, which makes training even more enjoyable and keeps them excited to come back. Professor Bruno and the coaches (Professor Kon, and Coach Aszlynn) are excellent with children. They are highly skilled in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and patient in teaching techniques, but also know when to be firm. I really appreciate how Prof Bruno is encouraging and motivating, yet strict when he needs to be, exactly what BJJ should be. What I value most is that he doesn’t just focus on winning or competition, but also teaches the kids important values such as respect, perseverance, and teamwork. Overall, Gracie Barra Singapore has taught Sophia more than just skill. It has given her confidence, discipline, and joy. I would highly recommend it to any parent considering BJJ for their child.
Tried their free trial. Positive experience, the instructor and other members were welcoming and patient with me as its my first time trying BJJ. Highly recommended.
Trained here while visiting Singapore — Bruno and his team were amazing! Super welcoming environment. Highly recommend!

Many martial arts and sports schools in Singapore offer a trial class, sometimes at a reduced fee or complimentary for first-time students. A trial session is the most practical way to assess whether the teaching style, class pace, and group dynamic are a good fit for your child or for yourself as an adult learner. During a trial, pay attention to how the instructor manages the class, whether the level is appropriate, and how engaged participants appear. It is also a good opportunity to observe safety practices and ask about progression pathways. Contact Gracie Barra Singapore directly via WhatsApp or phone to confirm whether a trial class is available and what it involves.
Gracie Barra is an internationally recognised Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu organisation with a structured instructor certification programme. Instructors within the Gracie Barra network are typically required to hold certified coaching credentials under the organisation's standards, though individual belt rank and teaching experience will vary by instructor. It is advisable to ask directly about the lead instructor's belt grade, years of teaching experience, and any national or international competition background. For classes involving children, enquire whether instructors hold relevant safeguarding or first-aid training. If specific credentials are important to your decision, contact Gracie Barra Singapore directly to confirm the qualifications of the instructor who will be leading your class.
