About Happy Kids Dental Surgery

About Happy Kids Dental Surgery

Happy Kids Dental Surgery is a dental practice based at Camden Medical Centre on Orchard Boulevard, serving families across Singapore. The clinic holds a 4.4-star rating across 109 Google reviews, a robust sample that gives reasonable confidence in the score. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channel, though no ACRA registration was returned for this listing.

New patients typically begin with an initial consultation, during which the dentist assesses the child's oral health, takes any necessary X-rays, and discusses a treatment plan tailored to the child's age and presenting concerns — whether that is routine scaling and polishing, fluoride application, fissure sealants, or more involved restorative work. Parents are encouraged to share any anxiety the child has about dental visits ahead of time, as paediatric-focused practices generally adapt their approach to accommodate nervous young patients. Recurring check-up schedules are usually set at six-monthly intervals, and families should confirm the clinic's cancellation policy before booking.

To make an appointment, contact Happy Kids Dental Surgery by phone or through the enquiry form on the listing — it is advisable to mention the child's age, any specific concerns, and whether this is a first dental visit so the team can allocate the appropriate consultation time.

When we first looked for a Paediatric Dentist for my son, we were very careful and ensured it must be the right dentist. Someone who would care so that visiting a dentist will be a fun time and nothing dramatic nor traumatic. A dentist who would offer advice to address concerns for first-time parents. We were quite disappointed. The Kids Dentist did not give us a chance to compare. Dr Rashid delivered everything we asked for right from the first visit, and had continued doing that for the last 15 years. Aidan looked forward to every visit to the dentist without complaints, and Dr Rashid offered clear advice for every issues that we faced. Be it the bacteria attacked teeth since young, or the open bite concerns when Aidan grew up. Each of them were resolved with the professional care and advice that Dr Rashid offered. In a glimpse of an eye, Aidan has outgrown the dentist chair, made his last visit after 15 years and 'graduated' with a hug. Thank you Dr Rashid for taking care of Aidan all these years, and to the friendly and kind team at TKD! You all made visiting a dentist not daunting nor scary. Stay cool and chill Dr Rashid, Aidan hope to bring his children to you next time.

My son has been visiting Dr Rashid for years, and the level of care has been consistently outstanding. From our very first appointment, the dentist and staff have shown incredible patience, kindness, and professionalism. They always take the time to explain everything clearly and make my son feel completely at ease. It’s rare to find a dental office that builds such trust and comfort with children, and I’m truly grateful for the positive experiences we’ve had throughout the years. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a dependable and caring dentist for their child.

My son was seen urgently by Dr Rashid with a suspected root fracture. Dr Rashid and the whole team were amazing from beginning of the referral to the end. Dr Rashid in particular was a consummate professional and guided us through the entire process of ruling out the likelihood of root fracture with consideration and confidence. He was fantastic with my son and helped put him at ease while investigations were carried out. He then repaired the chip in my son’s adult tooth and the repair is so great I genuinely cannot tell where the chip was! The experience has been so fantastic that I have swapped all dental care for both my children to Dr Rashid and his team. Zero reservations in recommending The Kids Dentist.

Nicely decorated with games for kids to relax before seeing the intimidating dentist chair! Super nice touch to send comfort after the process, with a treasure chest of small cute toys to choose & bring home. Keep up the great job, Dr Rashid & Team!

The clinic operates with an emphasis on efficiency. The appointment moved quickly, but the speed came at the expense of essential communication. When I asked for direct, clinically relevant explanations to guide decisions for my child, the answers remained vague. Key information—on medical effectiveness, risks, psychological impact, and basic comfort measures—was not provided in a clear or actionable way. The dentist expressed an unwavering view that pain for children is a routine, unremarkable part of dental treatment. This was presented as a default rather than a factor to be minimised. The approach sits in noticeable tension with the principles commonly referenced in Singapore’s professional guidelines, which emphasise informed consent, patient comfort, transparent risk explanation, and child-centred care as core duties of practice. Communication was one-directional and highly authoritative. Questions were acknowledged but not addressed. The interaction reflected an older clinical style—decisive, efficient, and uninterested in shared understanding—despite Singapore Dental Council guidance highlighting the importance of clear communication, patient engagement, and respect for parental involvement in treatment decisions. The visit was undeniably efficient. What it lacked was alignment with the professional expectation that dentists provide families with clear information, meaningful reassurance, and a coherent plan to safeguard a child’s physical and psychological well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Happy Kids Dental Surgery charge per session?

Dental fees in Singapore vary by procedure. A routine consultation and examination typically runs S$50–100, with scaling and polishing at S$80–180 depending on the extent of calculus buildup. Fluoride treatments and fissure sealants are usually S$30–60 per tooth or per session. Fillings range from S$80–250 depending on material (composite vs amalgam) and tooth surface, while extractions run S$80–300. More involved restorative or orthodontic work carries separate pricing. GST applies to dental consultations and procedures. CHAS and MediShield Life subsidies do not apply at a private specialist centre, but parents should confirm directly with Happy Kids Dental Surgery whether any Medisave-claimable procedures (such as surgical extractions) are available. Do I need a referral or assessment first?

A referral is not required to book a first consultation at Happy Kids Dental Surgery — parents can contact the clinic directly by phone or via the enquiry form. At the first visit, the dentist will typically carry out a full oral examination, take bitewing or periapical X-rays where clinically indicated, and discuss any treatment priorities with the parent before proceeding. Children with significant dental anxiety, complex medical histories (for example, blood disorders, heart conditions, or a need for antibiotic prophylaxis), or severe tooth decay that may require sedation should flag these details when booking so the team can prepare appropriately. A GP referral is not mandatory but may assist with insurance pre-authorisation if the family holds a relevant policy.

Is the practitioner at Happy Kids Dental Surgery licensed?

All dentists practising in Singapore must be registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC), the statutory board under the Ministry of Health. Registration is publicly verifiable on the SDC's online register — parents can search by the dentist's name to confirm their licence status and any specialist credentials before booking. No regulatory licences were returned in this listing's data, so parents are encouraged to ask the clinic directly for the consulting dentist's SDC registration number. Specialist paediatric dentists (paedodontists) hold an additional specialist registration beyond general dental registration — worth confirming if advanced paediatric dental care is the primary need. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
