About Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central)

About Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central)

Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central) is a general practice clinic located at 177 Toa Payoh Central, serving residents across the Toa Payoh area and the broader island. The clinic is KakiList-verified, meaning operating details and contact channels have been confirmed by a real person. It holds a 3.7 out of 5 rating across 129 Google reviews, which represents a robust sample size and can be treated as a reliable directional signal. No regulatory licences are recorded in this listing, so patients are advised to confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the consulting doctor's Singapore Medical Council registration directly before booking.

For most patients, the journey begins with a walk-in or same-day appointment for acute concerns such as fever, respiratory symptoms, minor injuries, or routine prescriptions. GP consultations at private clinics typically run S$25–60, with investigations such as blood panels, swabs, or urine tests billed separately. Patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol may access the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which allows MediSave 500/700 withdrawal for outpatient treatment of listed conditions. CHAS cardholders and Singapore Citizens holding Community Health Assist Scheme subsidies should confirm eligibility at the front desk before consultation, as subsidy tiers vary by income band and the clinic's CHAS participation status.

Contact Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central) by WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to confirm operating hours, same-day appointment availability, and CHAS or Medisave claim eligibility before your visit.

Excellent clinic with very good and experienced doctors. Extremely friendly in the way of treatment and will explain the issues in detail and suggest remedies. Apart from doctors, I need to specifically mention the receptionists. They are super friendly and soft spoken and greets you with a warm smile which is exactly what a patient needs visiting any clinic to forget about their pain and sickness. Kudos team keep up the great work!

I would especially like to praise one of your employees. He works at the front desk and patiently receives every patient, explaining medical terms in different languages with great care. He is attentive, gentle in his manner, and makes patients feel truly cared for. I am very grateful.pua

Extremely poor service and inaccurate medical testing. They were quick to upsell extra tests but ignored my insurance during payment. I was left panicked after seeing a high diabetes marker on my report, yet the clinic never reached out to review the findings. After seeking a second opinion elsewhere, it turns out the Healthway results were wrong. Save yourself the stress and the money—go somewhere else.

Dr Kua Shin Yii is meticulous, thorough, careful and knowledgeable. Her cheerful persona puts me at ease even when I feel unwell. Dr Kua has been my family doctor for many years. The staff in her clinic are always helpful and super friendly.

Please do not get your annual health screening here. Plus: Dr Lee and Gary the receptionist Honestly, the other times I've been to this clinic when I've been sick, the service was not bad. And the waiting time is always a bit long, which is understandable. From what I read, the Chinese male receptionist name seems to be Gary Pau, and he is very friendly and is who I'd come back for... Unfortunately, he was not here on the day when I decided to do the emerald Health Screening (it's the most expensive option). I was treated with so little respect at the clinic and apparently today I found out that they "forgot about my report", even though it was already out 2 weeks ago. This is the treatment of someone who paid for the most expensive service. In detail what happened: I went to the TPY outlet at about 12pm, and was told to return back at 2pm... After which, I waited an additional 1 hour++ for a lady to do my ECG, take my height and weight and for the doctor to draw one syringe of blood... The medical assistant at the receptionist was also very rude to me and kept pushing her colleague to ask me (even though I was standing right in front of her) why I did not come in the morning... She was talking at me, via the other lady, even though she could have talked directly to me. I explained that I was working and had called the clinic a few weeks prior to check if I could come in on weekdays, and the response was yes, before 1pm-2pm. Which was exactly what I did. Either way, I waited and decided to go through with the health screening. It was a very long wait. I was then told that my result would be out in 7-10 working days and I would receive a call and or sms informing me to come down to the clinic for the review. I've paid over $400+ for this terrible service and have gotten zero updates. I called the clinic TODAY (1 Dec 2021) and was told that my report had already arrived in the 17th of November... But they had just "forgotten" and the person on the phone still had the audacity to ask me why I didn't call earlier even though they told me to wait for the report. This is honestly ridiculous and very upsetting. Also the majority of my health screening (done by the assistant) was done in their break room... It was quite dusty and the floor had a lot of dirt. I noticed this because I had to take off my slippers to lie on the bedding.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central) charge?

GP consultations at private clinics in Singapore typically run S$25–60, with follow-up visits generally at the lower end of that range. On top of the consultation fee, investigations are billed separately: a basic blood panel runs S$60–200, a urine dipstick or culture S$20–80, an X-ray S$80–150, and any rapid test (e.g. influenza, strep, COVID-19) S$20–50. Prescribed medications are dispensed at point of service and priced per item. GST applies on private medical services. CHAS Green, Orange, and Blue cardholders may receive subsidies on consultations and selected investigations if the clinic participates in the CHAS scheme — confirm this directly before your visit, as subsidy tiers and per-visit caps change periodically. MediSave can be used under the CDMP for listed chronic conditions up to S$500–700 per year depending on the number of conditions managed. For any planned procedure or specialist referral, request a written cost estimate that splits insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket portions. Is Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central) MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

No regulatory licences are recorded in this listing for Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central). Before your visit, verify two things independently. First, confirm the clinic holds a valid MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — this is searchable on the MOH licensee directory at moh.gov.sg. Second, confirm the name of the consulting doctor and check their Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration at smc.gov.sg, which also displays specialist accreditation and any disciplinary history. Every practising doctor in Singapore must appear on the SMC public register. Healthway Medical is a network brand operating multiple clinics across Singapore, which is a useful context signal, but the licence and the named doctor should still be confirmed at the specific Toa Payoh Central branch before booking. Neither the clinic network name alone nor KakiList verification substitutes for MOH and SMC confirmation. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Healthway Medical (Toa Payoh Central)?

For general GP visits, MediSave is not typically claimable for acute outpatient consultations unless the clinic participates in the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP). Under CDMP, MediSave withdrawal limits are S$500 per year for one listed condition and S$700 per year for two or more — eligible conditions include hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, stroke, asthma, COPD, and selected mental health conditions. Confirm CDMP participation and your specific condition's eligibility at the front desk. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life generally do not cover outpatient GP visits unless the plan includes a rider with outpatient benefits — check your policy schedule. CHAS subsidies, where applicable, reduce the out-of-pocket consultation fee directly at point of payment rather than through a claims process. For any referral to a specialist or planned investigation, ask the clinic to issue a referral letter. A polyclinic or GP referral letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) unlocks subsidised rates of S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens, with typical waiting times of 4–12 weeks for non-urgent appointments. For planned procedures, request a pre-treatment financial counselling estimate in writing before agreeing to proceed.
