About Hock Hua

About Hock Hua

Hock Hua is a confinement food caterer based in Hougang, delivering islandwide across Singapore. It has been verified by KakiList, though no ACRA registration has been confirmed. With only 7 Google reviews at a rating of 2.6 out of 5, the review sample is too small to draw reliable conclusions about service quality, and prospective customers should weigh this cautiously.

Most confinement food caterers in Singapore offer 28-day packages as standard, with shorter 7-day or 14-day options available for those who wish to trial a service before committing. Packages typically cover two meals per day — lunch and dinner — delivered hot, with herbal soups, red dates tea, or longan tea either bundled in or priced separately depending on the caterer. Before placing an order, it is worth confirming which dietary tradition Hock Hua follows (Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, or another), whether the menu rotates daily, and whether dishes can be adjusted for breastfeeding mothers who may need to avoid alcohol-based ingredients such as rice wine. Packaging should be BPA-free and microwave-safe, and delivery windows are typically twice daily.

To get started, contact Hock Hua directly by phone or via the enquiry form to ask about current package options, daily tray count, delivery slots to your address, and whether a trial meal can be arranged before you pay any deposit.

Staff was extremely rude to elderly. My elderly asked if it’s possible if the item can be cheaper cause there’s an another store sells it cheaper. It was just a simple question and the staff could have replied with cannot or it’s no possible. But the staff asked my elderly to go there and buy. What kind of customer service is this?

Will rate 0 stars if possible. The younger lady staff was so rude and have no customer service at all. Asked her what herbal teas are left and she rudely and vaguely said “only left what’s here”. Closed off their credit card machine at 8pm when the shop closes at 10?

The male staff is extremely rude. I asked for Barley and apparently there are two types of Barley and he gave me one of it with an assumption. As a customer, I am unaware and he did not bother explaining. After realising the difference, he reluctantly gave me the refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Hock Hua charge for a confinement food package?

Confinement food packages in Singapore typically range from S$1,200 to S$2,800 for a standard 28-day plan, depending on the number of trays per day, whether herbal soups and tonics are included, and the caterer's culinary tradition. Shorter 7-day or 14-day trial packages are also available from many providers at a proportionately lower cost. Hock Hua's specific pricing has not been published on this listing. Contact them directly to confirm the full package cost, what is included (meals, soups, teas, tonics), whether there is a delivery surcharge for your area, and what shorter trial options are available. Ask for an itemised breakdown before paying any deposit. See the full confinement food cost guide for Singapore →

What dietary tradition does Hock Hua follow, and is there a trial meal?

Singapore's confinement food market spans several culinary traditions — Cantonese is the most common, emphasising warming herbal soups, ginger, sesame oil, and sometimes rice wine; Hokkien and Teochew styles differ in their soup bases and ingredient profiles; Western postnatal, halal, and vegetarian options are also available from some caterers. The specific tradition Hock Hua follows has not been confirmed in this listing. Before committing to a 28-day package, ask whether the menu rotates daily or repeats weekly, and whether dishes can be adjusted for breastfeeding mothers — a low-spice, alcohol-free variant is a common request. Most reputable caterers offer a single-day trial meal at roughly S$30–60; this is strongly recommended given how personal taste and postpartum appetite can vary.

Is Hock Hua licensed and how is food safety handled?

Legitimate confinement food caterers should hold an SFA Food Shop Licence or Catering Licence, with a hygiene grade displayed — A is the highest, followed by B, C, and D. Caterers serving halal menus should also hold a MUIS halal certificate, which is typically printed on packaging. No regulatory licences have been recorded for Hock Hua in this listing, so you should ask them directly for their SFA licence details before ordering. Confinement meals are typically cooked on the day of delivery and dispatched hot in BPA-free, microwave-safe containers within a roughly four-hour window. Confirm the twice-daily delivery slots (commonly 11am–1pm for lunch and 5pm–7pm for dinner), and clarify the substitute or refund policy in the event a delivery is missed. Order a trial meal and confirm the SFA hygiene grade (and MUIS halal certificate if relevant) before paying the package deposit.
