Parents and students considering IDP Singapore's test preparation and admissions support should start by enquiring about which examination or admissions pathway they are targeting — for instance, IELTS, SAT, university application counselling, or overseas placement. It is worth asking whether the service is delivered in group sessions or one-to-one, whether an initial assessment is offered to gauge current ability and readiness, and how the syllabus or programme aligns with the specific test format and target institution requirements. I trusted IDP with one of the most important processes of my life — my student visa application. I specifically asked my advisor, Zikry, to thoroughly review my visa application statement and supporting documents to ensure there were no issues or omissions. Despite this, after reviewing my materials, he failed to point out several essential documents that were required for the visa submission. Because he confirmed that everything looked fine, I proceeded to lodge my student visa application exactly as advised — only to be rejected due to missing documents that should have been flagged during his review. This was not a small mistake. A visa rejection is a serious, high-impact consequence that affects a person’s academic plans, finances, mental health, and future prospects. And it happened solely because of an avoidable oversight. Throughout the entire process, I followed every instruction strictly as given. However, Zikry did not exercise the level of professional diligence one would reasonably expect from an advisor representing an international education organisation. His negligence caused me significant emotional stress, delays, and a loss that cannot be undone. If this is what IDP considers “professional guidance,” then the organisation seriously needs to re-evaluate its standards and the training of its staff. A warning to future applicants: Do NOT rely entirely on the advisor’s review, even if they assure you everything is correct. Double-check your visa documents yourself, or you may pay a heavy price as I did.
I’m extremely grateful for the support and guidance provided throughout my study application process. I was assigned to Shima Kamsari for my application and she was excellent. She was professional, patient, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled smoothly, from University selection to visa guidance. Her dedication, clear communication, and willingness to take extra steps truly made the process stress-free. I genuinely appreciate all the effort her effort. Generally, IDP is a really good agency to apply for overseas study application and will definitely recommend to others.
I had an incredible and outstanding experience working with Mr Mau Zhiyong from IDP. His professionalism, patience and dedication truly impressed me throughout the entire process of my daughter’s university applications. He guided us through applications to two universities before we finalized UQ. He was swift, responsive and comprehensive in his replies. I had countless questions yet he always answered with clarity and patience. He also set up calls directly with the universities, allowing my daughter to hear firsthand about program details, accomodation options, etc which gave my daughter confidence and clarity in choosing the choice school. The Australian international student visa application process can be daunting, but Mr Mau made it manageable. He literally hand‑held me through baby steps and ensuring I never felt overwhelmed, giving detailed instructions for each milestone, celebrated each achievement with us before moving on to the next milestone. He proof-read, edited and offered suggestions to embellish and refine my daughter’s general statement and reviewed the documents to ensure that the visa applciation process would be smooth and free of hiccups when submitted. When I grew frustrated with the system, he was reassuring and encouraging. Thanks to his guidance. My daugher will now be pursuing her education at UQ and leaving in a few weeks time. I am deeply grateful for his expertise and valuable support. I have already recommended him to my friend and would similarly strongly recommend to anyone aspiring to study overseas to seek out Mr Mau. He is truly an exceptional and remarkable counsellor who goes above and beyond for his clients. Thank you, Mr Mau!
I was assigned to Mr Mau as my IDP counsellor, and he supported me right from the very beginning. He ensured that the application process went smoothly, and all my questions were always answered promptly. What I appreciated most was his warmth and genuine care throughout the journey. His check ins and advice were thoughtful and reassuring, and he made sure my preparations were well in place so I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. He celebrated my key milestones as I worked towards my dream of studying abroad. His support has meant a great deal to me, and I am truly grateful for all his help. Thank you to IDP and Mr Mau.
I feel very fortunate to have been assigned to Mr Mau Zhi Yong as my counsellor for this journey. He provided quick and informative replies whenever I had questions and frequently checked in with me on my process every few days to make sure everything was going smoothly. When I faced certain concerns with my university course Mr Mau also managed to set up an online zoom meeting with my university course director, where I managed to clarify all my doubts directly to the school. Mr Mau was also in the meeting to ensure all questions were answered and to help with the communication. Thank you Mr Mau and IDP for making this journey so manageable and efficient, will definitely recommend to anyone thinking of studying abroad!!😆

IDP Singapore's pricing is indicated at a mid-range level, but specific per-session, monthly, or package fees were not published at the time of this listing. Test preparation and admissions services in Singapore typically charge S$80–200 per session for one-to-one coaching, or offer structured group programmes on a term or package basis at lower per-session rates. It is common for providers to charge a separate materials fee and, in some cases, a trial or assessment session fee. Whether IDP Singapore offers a formal trial class was not specified in the listing. For test preparation and admissions services, a trial or diagnostic session is a reasonable request before committing to a package or term — it gives you a sense of the teaching approach, the level of personalisation, and whether the programme aligns with the student's current ability and target score or institution. When enquiring, ask specifically whether an initial assessment or orientation session is available, what it costs, and how the results are used to tailor the programme. Use that first interaction to evaluate whether the teaching style suits the student's learning preferences and whether the syllabus coverage matches the relevant exam format.
IDP is an internationally recognised organisation with deep expertise in IELTS administration and overseas study placement, and its Singapore office operates as part of that global network. However, specific credentials for individual counsellors or tutors — such as NIE or MOE teaching backgrounds, examination board certifications, or years of subject-specific experience — were not listed in the provider data. Before enrolling, it is worth asking directly which professional will handle your sessions, what their background in the relevant test or admissions pathway is, and how they stay current with changes to examination formats or university entry requirements. For IELTS specifically, IDP is one of the two official IELTS co-owners globally, which is a meaningful credential at the organisational level.
