Boutique interior design firm.
The bulk of Insight.Out Studio's bookings cover Renovation Services. Because this is a focused home services operation, most jobs are scoped over WhatsApp first — photos of the issue, property type, and preferred slot — before a price is quoted.
Insight.Out Studio covers all of Singapore, which is useful if you live in a less-central estate or need a provider that can follow a recurring job to different addresses. They're ACRA-registered under 202008690C and have been verified by KakiList, which adds a layer of accountability beyond anonymous review aggregators. Google reviewers currently give Insight.Out Studio a strong average of 4.8/5 across 138 reviews, which is a reasonable signal of consistency for a home services provider.
The practical way to decide on Insight.Out Studio is to message them directly with a short job description, property type, and any relevant photos. Direct contact means no platform middleman and usually a faster response than form-based lead submissions.
I had a very good experience working with Insight.Out Studio, and especially with my interior designers, Roy and Sharmaine. From the very beginning, Roy was always respectful of my budget. Unlike other firms that quoted me very high prices upfront, he took the time to understand my budget constraints and suggested innovative alternatives to help keep costs under control. Throughout the entire renovation process, the final amount did not deviate much from the original quote, which I really appreciated. Roy and Sharmaine also understood exactly the kind of design I wanted for my home—a modern colonial style. Instead of simply giving me what I initially asked for, they contributed thoughtful and interesting ideas that enhanced my original vision. At the same time, they were always open to adjusting their ideas to better suit my needs and preferences, making the collaboration feel very balanced and comfortable. Another standout point was their project management. They kept very tightly to the schedule with no delays at all. In fact, they were even able to accommodate my shortened timeline and sped up the renovation process slightly, which allowed me to move in smoothly without any stress. What I really appreciated was their help with furniture selection and ordering from Taobao. They assisted with choosing items, placing the orders, and arranging delivery and unpacking. This was incredibly helpful, as they were the only firm willing to do this, and it saved me a huge amount of time and effort managing Taobao orders on my own. Overall, the entire process was smooth from start to finish. Roy and Sharmaine were always contactable, responsive, and professional. I’ve moved into a home that I truly love, and I would highly recommend Insight.Out Studio to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful interior design team.
We engaged Insight.Out Studio in 2025 to oversee the renovation of our new 5 bedroom condo and moved in July the same year. Although we were starting from a blank slate, we needed help with space planning and storage solutions given certain constraints of our new home. We were assigned Edmund as our ID subsequently. From a design perspective, Edmund had a keen sense of what our preferences were after several conversations and helped to align the theme we wanted with the existing bones of our unit. He was instinctual in balancing form with function and was also good at managing expectations when vision did not line up with what was feasible on the ground. He is cognisant of budget and works with what you are comfortable with without being overly pushy. He confronts obstacles competently with suggestions and solutions rather than abandonment. Having gone through other renovations previously and having a big focus on carpentry for the current home, quality of laminate and construct was a priority. Their carpenters are local and workmanship and execution is one of the best we have experienced so far, which made a massive difference to the overall feel of the home. If you are into curved features then this is a company that can deliver. If however there is a tight timeline to work with then one may have to adjust their expectations. There is a tendency for bottleneck at the carpentry stage especially if your project calls heavily for it and/or your development have restrictions for renovations. This did result in us having to look for alternative living arrangements secondary to delay, but overall we placed more importance in getting everything right rather than rushing through. All things considered, the outcome exceeded the inconveniences and we are happy to be able to call our new apartment our "Home". Thank you to Edmund and team for your hard work.
We have been looking for designer since 2024 till we have met Edmund. He's creativity and professional ideal had turned out our home to be more than our expectation! With his team of contactors even after reno with minor defect Edmund will be able to get it solve with no delay. We are really happy and appreciate he had made the whole process smoothly and well organized till completion. We highly recommend Edmund from Insight.out studio to anyone who's looking for a reliable and professional designer!
We met about 5 designers before finally settling on Edmund, and we’re glad we did. The other firms we spoke to either didn’t seem as confident or left us unsure if they could deliver what we needed. Edmund, on the other hand, presented himself confidently, understood what we were looking for, and gave us the assurance that he could execute it well. Another big factor for us was that he had completed a similar project in the same estate we’re living in, which gave us even more confidence in his capabilities. This is our second home, so we were very specific about the details — especially when it came to carpentry and all the small measurements that mattered (specific drawers and cupboards to be able to house existing items we have). Edmund listened, contributed his ideas, and delivered right down to the centimetres for certain drawers and widths we requested. There was one instance where a specific drawer meant to house our utensils came in slightly smaller than we had planned, so our utensils organizer couldn't fit. We brought it up, and service recovery was smooth - we requested for his carpenter to customize a utensils organizer as part of the drawer instead, and they did so perfectly. We really appreciated that. We worked with Edmund for about three months, and overall the experience has been great. He’s generally responsive though sometimes he may take a day or so to reply, but he still gets things done and always delivers on the important matters. He also has a very capable team of contractors — especially his tiler, plumber and carpenter. His tiler gave us good advice too which we appreciate. They were easy to work with and efficient. They also helped us drill a few things we needed around the house. Overall, we’re very happy with the renovation outcome and the experience working with Edmund and his team. :)
No renovation experience can be completely smooth, but working with Roy, Sharmaine and Insight.Out was about as painless as we could have hoped for - both in terms of translating our vision into reality and dealing with the various hiccups along the way. But the standout quality for my wife and I was that Roy and Sharmaine always dealt with us in good faith, which allowed the relationship to be slowly built from the outside in. I'll try to explain using this frame of "outside in". Before that, the raw numbers: my wife and I met 12 IDs before we decided to go with Roy and Insight.Out for our 5-room Tengah BTO renovation. For the uninitiated, that is a lot of IDs. She met nearly all the IDs twice - some lost steam or began to display red flags at the second meeting and others only confirmed our initial judgement to rule them out. Roy remained a frontrunner throughout this process. Why? First, the 'outside' qualities we observed. Insight.Out was not on our initial shortlist, but Roy impressed us initially with his portfolio, his enthusiasm for our project, and intuitive grasp of the concept we wanted (colonial black-and-white). Roy also stood out to us because 1) he had both design flair and practical knowhow and 2) knew when to push and when to pull. My wife and I are not the most spatially intelligent people, yet were fiercely committed to our aesthetic vision. We needed an ID confident enough in his judgement to advise us on the practicality or impracticality of our design choices (not just blindly follow our questionable instructions), and share our vision without overriding it. Second, the 'middle' layer of qualities. The more IDs my wife and I met, the more we realised how important it was to screen for chemistry and vibes, on top of cost and aesthetic. My wife likened the process to speed dating. Could we see ourselves working with Roy for the next few months, communicating regularly with him and Sharmaine (who was introduced to us during the third meeting) in good humour? We ruled out a couple of otherwise strong candidates for this reason: they were not on the same wavelength as us and we anticipated misunderstandings/miscommunications down the line even with the best intentions on both sides. Third and most importantly, the 'inside' layer. Roy and Sharmaine earned and maintained our trust throughout the entire renovation journey. They listened to and tried to accommodate our every request as plans inevitably changed and hiccups happened. If they couldn't do it for whatever reason, they communicated honestly with us. The workmanship was of a consistently high quality and we have no complaints. If you meet Roy at his office, he'll probably tell you upfront that he has no hidden costs - this is no empty promise. We've all heard stories of opaque ID quotations and people who end up paying through the nose for basic services dressed up as "add-ons". With Roy and Sharmaine, at no point did we feel like they were trying to squeeze more money out of us unnecessarily. If it was within their means to touch up or correct something without an increase in raw material cost, they did it for us. I can't speak for how this affects profit margins, but we really appreciated their dealing with us in good faith. The trust built had a trickle-down effect with Insight.Out's partners (e.g. Ivan who sells bathroom fittings and Ah Png the electrician) because we could be more confident that they were also honest and competent folk. This trust was really the foundation of our positive renovation journey. The only downside to our experience with Roy and Sharmaine was that our renovation journey took a bit too long. But it takes two hands to clap - as clients we have to shoulder our fair share of the blame for not pushing the pace a bit more. After all, we're the ones who should have been in a hurry to move in!
