About Island Family Clinic Bedok
Island Family Clinic Bedok is a general practice clinic located at 763 Bedok Reservoir View, #01-283, within the Bedok Reservoir residential estate. The clinic is listed as KakiList-verified, meaning operating details and contact channels have been confirmed by a real person. It holds a 3.8 out of 5 rating across 65 Google reviews — a moderate sample that gives a reasonable directional signal, though individual experiences vary. No regulatory licences are currently listed in this profile, and ACRA registration has not been confirmed; prospective patients are encouraged to verify the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the consulting doctor's SMC registration before attending.
For a first visit to a GP clinic, the typical flow is straightforward: book by phone or enquiry form, arrive with your NRIC and Integrated Shield Plan (IP) card, and present your symptoms. The doctor will assess, order investigations if needed (blood draw, urine, swab), prescribe, and advise on follow-up. For chronic conditions covered under the Chronic Disease Management Programme — including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, asthma, and others — MediSave 700 outpatient withdrawal applies, which reduces out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients. Acute walk-ins are generally seen the same day.
To confirm availability, accepted insurance panels, and whether the clinic participates in CHAS or Healthier SG, call the clinic directly or submit an enquiry via the contact form on this listing.
Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
Clinic is clean, well kept. Saw the doctor (locum) for cold and breathlessness. Was recommended to do an ECG, which on hindsight I felt was unnecessary and could be delayed if the initial checks were clear. (I do not have prior heart conditions) Its great for those who prefer to be extra sure/careful that their condition is clear/stable. Bill surged to over $100+. For patients, do consider if it is really necessary before agreeing to additional tests recommended. Also review the medicines prescribed and check if you already have them at home.
I visited the clinic with my sister at 8:44pm, well within the stated opening hours (until 9pm), hoping to consult a doctor. To our surprise, we were turned away immediately within seconds without any proper assessment or attempt to help. The front desk staff, named Wendy (short hair), told us flatly: "We are closed already, you come too late. Today’s doctor is not our usual doctor, he is just a locum and he has to rush off. We still have many patients to see. If you really want to see the doctor now, we will charge you very high price.” This was said in an unprofessional and dismissive tone, with no consideration for the fact that we had travelled down specifically to seek medical care. When I asked what time the last patient is accepted, I was told 8:30pm, but this cut-off time is not stated anywhere online. The only information publicly available says the clinic is open until 9pm. If there is a fixed last registration time, that should be clearly communicated on all platforms. We made the trip expecting to receive care, only to be turned away with no assistance and no empathy. My sister had a fever (clearly visible, with a fever patch on her forehead), and when Wendy asked about it, her only response was “Oh then you better drink more water," said without a shred of empathy or care. Telling someone who’s having fever to simply “drink more water” is not only unhelpful, but also dismissive and irresponsible. She then said, “or you can visit the A&E if not you need to wait very long if you want to see us.” This was puzzling. What makes you think visiting the A&E for a non-emergency fever won’t involve waiting even longer, and unnecessarily take up emergency resources? If you have no proper or helpful advice to give, it’s better not to say anything at all. Misinforming or pushing patients toward inappropriate channels like the A&E just to avoid late consults is unacceptable. Lastly, stating “we will charge you very high” as a deterrent to avoid seeing patients nearing closing time is frankly appalling. We understand that staff may want to end their day on time, but this does not excuse a lack of compassion, professionalism, or proper protocol in a healthcare setting. To be fair, I’ve visited this clinic before and have never had such an experience. The doctors and staff I encountered previously were professional and respectful. But today’s encounter, especially with how Wendy handled the situation, really fell far below the standard I’ve come to expect, and made me question whether I’d feel comfortable returning in the future. I sincerely hope the clinic management takes this feedback seriously and ensures all front desk staff receive appropriate training, not only in communication, but in basic patient care and service. No one should be treated in this manner, especially when seeking medical help.
Had a really good experience with Dr Wong Seng Tuan from Island Family Clinic today. He was patient and took the effort to explain to me about the symptoms and diagnosis and also what parameters were important. I felt much more reassured and feel taken care in his hands. The clinic also was not too crowded and the wait time was very short. Will come back again
Visited the clinic on 10 Nov (Mon), friendly clinic assistants and Doctor. Dr Gan prescribed the medication and it works effectively. Thanks!
Have been blessed over a decade by having such a good clinic just a few steps away. Dr Gan is always patient and reassuring, often helping to clear up any common misconceptions and giving practical advice. The real test came during COVID, when he and his staff kept their composure despite the overwhelming number of patients, much appreciation and thanks!

GP consultations at private family clinics in Singapore typically run S$25–60 per visit, with follow-up visits at the lower end of that range. Common add-ons billed separately include investigations (blood panel S$60–200, throat or nasal swab S$30–80, urine dipstick S$10–30), prescriptions, and medical certificates. GST applies on private GP services. For patients enrolled in Healthier SG or holding a CHAS card, subsidised consultation rates apply — CHAS Orange and Blue cardholders typically pay S$0–15 per visit for chronic-disease management under the programme, with the remainder claimable from MediSave under CDMP. Confirm with the clinic whether it participates in CHAS, Healthier SG, and which IP panels it is on before attending if cost is a consideration. Every legitimate GP clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory at moh.gov.sg. Every practising doctor must also appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg; search by name to confirm registration status and any disciplinary history. No licences are currently listed in this KakiList profile, so patients should verify both the clinic licence and the named doctor's SMC entry independently before attending. For general practice, specialist accreditation and surgical fellowships are not applicable — but confirming active SMC registration and the clinic's MOH licence is a basic and necessary step. The MOH licensee search and SMC register are both free and publicly accessible online. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
For outpatient GP visits, MediSave can be used under the MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits — S$500 per year for general outpatient conditions, rising to S$700 per year for chronic conditions managed under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which covers hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, stroke, asthma, COPD, selected mental health conditions, and others. Confirm with the clinic whether it is a CDMP-approved provider before your visit if you intend to claim. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life generally cover inpatient and day-surgery costs rather than routine GP consultations, though some riders include outpatient benefits — check your specific plan. CHAS and Healthier SG subsidies, where applicable, reduce the consultation fee at point of payment rather than through a claims process. For any planned procedure or referral arising from the consultation, request a financial counselling session to understand the insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket split in writing before proceeding. Skipping this step is the most common reason patients are surprised by their final bill.
