I visited Kallang Ice World yesterday with a group of friends, and overall I’d give it 3 stars. At the beginning, the ice condition was quite good. It was smooth enough to skate comfortably and enjoy the experience. We were really excited, and skating together made it a lot of fun. Even the falls became part of the experience; after a while you get used to them and just laugh it off with your friends. However, as time passed, the ice started accumulating water, especially around the edges of the rink. Those areas became noticeably wet and slushy, which made it easier to lose balance unexpectedly. The center of the rink stayed in better condition for longer, but near the sides it could feel a bit risky at times, particularly for beginners. There wasn’t any music playing, so the atmosphere felt a bit plain. Even so, we still had a really good time together. Being there with friends made the experience genuinely enjoyable, and despite the falls and the water on the ice, it turned into a fun and memorable outing. Overall, it’s a good place to go with friends and have fun, but ice maintenance throughout the session could definitely be improved.
I went here the other day on a Friday and the traffic wasn’t too bad. The reservations are divided in 2 hour slots which I cannot recall the exact times right now. The rink overall is pretty run down and low quality and as a first time skater it was pretty hard to learn considering the skates were quite low quality and the ankle supports were leaning to one side, I also noticed that the blades weren’t sharp at all. The receptionist was pretty friendly but the skate provider was grumpy, but if you just came here to skate don’t let that bother you. Overall this is in fact the only ice skating rink left in Singapore so there isn’t much to say.
went there yesterday with a group of friends. the experience was nice, although i had misplaced my ticket to get in. i paid, and still had the reciept, but they didnt let me borrow my ice skates. i had to go back out, and buy another ticket for $20! absolutely diabolical. if i have the reciept, why not ?? spent $40 on tickets that day. the staff at the ice skating borrowing booth was extremely rude too. not to mention, one penguin cost us $15! had a huge waiting line to get inside, and the seats inside were greasy and stank. experience was nice, however the ice was watery after our first hour. it was fine, but do NOT lose your ticket.
I think to enjoy yourself you have to adjust your expectations. They have 2 hours slots throughout the day: 9-11am, 11.20-1.20pm, 2-4pm, 4.40-6.40pm, and 7.20-9.20pm (plus one more slot on Fri, Sat and PH eve: 9.40-11.40pm). Go early to buy your tickets, then have a makan or something, then line up to go in at your slot. Facilities are a bit rundown and the skates guy is a bit grumpy, but if you're just there to ice skate then try not to be too bothered, the skates I got were in okay condition. Metal frames are free (but limited, supposed to be for kids below 1.2m only) and you can rent a seal for $15. There are toilets inside.
Totally disappointed with their service and accommodation. NOT RECOMMENDED. Paid the payment for 3 rentals skates for 3 people. Once entered, there were no more shoe size for one person. The chinese man at the counter was very impolite, unfriendly and unaccommodating. He just said dont have and gave a size too small, and when asked for a bigger size, he gave a size that is 4 times bigger without explaining his situation. Since the enjoyment was ruined just because there was no crowd control and no shoe size, we requested to have a refund and just leave instead. However, the staff refused to refund the whole bill as the other 2 person still have their shoe size available for the rental shoes. This is totally unacceptable as an entertainment industry that is meant to give enjoyment to the public. The whole trip was ruined because the staff were not flexible with the accommodation and even charged for visiting instead of allowing us to leave. In the end, we paid extra $50+ for disappointment.
