About Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens

About Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens

Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens is a general practice clinic located at 14D Kensington Park Rd in the Serangoon Gardens neighbourhood. It holds a 3.2/5 rating across 79 Google reviews — a moderate sample size, though the rating sits below the typical 4.0 threshold for a strong signal. No regulatory licences have been recorded in this listing, and the clinic is not confirmed as ACRA-registered, so prospective patients are advised to verify credentials directly before booking. Pricing is indicated at a mid-range level on a per-visit basis, consistent with private GP consultation norms in Singapore.

A first visit to a GP clinic typically begins with a walk-in or phone booking. For straightforward acute conditions — fever, respiratory illness, minor injuries, or repeat prescriptions — a private GP consultation runs S$25–60 before investigations or medications. Patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol may be eligible for the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which allows MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits for outpatient treatment at participating clinics. For conditions requiring specialist input, a GP referral letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) attracts subsidised rates of S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens, though non-urgent waits of 4–12 weeks are common. A polyclinic referral is an alternative for subsidised entry. Confirm with the clinic whether it participates in CDMP, Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS), or MediSave outpatient claims before your visit.

Just visited today. Agree with those who commented on the poor service of counter staff. Firstly, this clinic charges more than my usual doctor for domestic worker's medical checkup ($41.40 vs $32). OK, given they include GST, but $38 vs $32, the price gap is notable. When I asked whether the checkup involved HIV test, first staff replied in a harsh tone: "it's what is on the paper lor!" Then I asked who was the Dr on duty, the other staff merely pointed her finger at a small signage that spelled "...Dr Lim..." Next, they asked for a contact number and I was about to provide mine when the first staff immediately shut me up, saying,"I'm asking her (my helper). Such dismissive responses and poor service attitude are downright rude and disappointing. Considering the clinic was empty during my visit, it’s evident that this level of service speaks it all.

Unlike the other review, the front desk and receptionist was patient and friendly. Both the ladies are a gem and the doc is very knowledgeable and patient.

Called in to get an appointment slot. Arrived on the dot and did the registration. Immediately was my turn next. Short waiting time. 2 ladies were super nice at the counter. Dr Lim is detailed in his consultation, meticulous too. Recommended.

I rarely write reviews for clinics, but there were quite a few remarks on rude front desk staff which surprise me. I just came out from a visit to Kensington. Both ladies managing the front desk were nice and polite. Needless to say, Dr Lim was, as usual, super patient, polite and gentle. 👍🏻 The clinic does look like it needs a bit of refreshing, hence the 4 stars but otherwise, service is all good.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens charge?

Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens is priced at a mid-range level on a per-visit basis. For a private GP, the Singapore market norm is S$25–60 for a consultation before investigations or prescriptions. Common add-ons include blood panels (S$60–200), urine tests, X-rays (S$80–150), and medications dispensed on-site. GST applies on private medical services. For planned procedures or specialist referrals, a written financial counselling estimate splitting insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions is standard practice — request this before any procedure. Confirm with the clinic whether it participates in CHAS, CDMP, or MediSave outpatient withdrawal schemes, as eligibility can materially reduce out-of-pocket costs for Singapore Citizens and PRs. Is Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

No regulatory licences are recorded in this listing for Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens, and the clinic is not confirmed as ACRA-registered. Every legitimate clinic should hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory at moh.gov.sg. Every practising doctor should appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm registration status, specialist accreditation, and any disciplinary history. Prospective patients are strongly encouraged to verify both the clinic's MOH licence and the named consulting doctor's SMC entry before booking. Neither the listing's verification status alone nor a physical address is a substitute for these checks. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For GP-level visits, MediSave can be used for selected outpatient treatments under the MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits — S$500 per year for general outpatient, S$700 per year for conditions covered under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), which includes hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders, asthma, and selected mental health conditions, among others. Confirm with Kensington Family Clinic Serangoon Gardens whether it is a CDMP-accredited clinic and whether it accepts CHAS subsidies for lower- and middle-income Singapore Citizens. For any planned procedure — however minor — request an itemised pre-treatment estimate in writing before consenting, as this is the most reliable way to avoid a surprise bill. Skipping pre-authorisation for IP claims is the most common reason insurers dispute payouts after the fact.
