I had my new spectacles done at Kwong Shin under a strong recommendation of my friend and was glad that I did so. You get a classic down-to-earth service from a group of friendly and knowledgeable staff who helps you through your spectacle making journey. Crucially, they accept CDC vouchers and they are also very accommodating to your payment methods. Overall 10/10!
I recently visited this optical shop and was really disappointed by the unprofessional behaviour of two staff members. Two female employees—one with black shoulder-length hair and the other with a short, boyish haircut—were openly chatting, making side comments, and mouthing things to each other right in front of customers. It came across as rude, childish, and highly unprofessional. Their attitude made me feel as if I was asking for free glasses, rather than being a paying customer. I was there to purchase a product, not to be judged or disrespected. At first, I even assumed one of them was the owner based on her attitude and how she carried herself, but turns out she’s just staff. The environment didn’t feel welcoming at all. After experiencing this, I’m not surprised to see so many negative reviews, mostly 1-star. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I hope management seriously looks into how their staff are treating people
Purchased my first pair of Oakley prescription eyewear here a few years ago, and it recently cracked (due to my own fault). Returned here to get a new pair, and I received the same excellent service from choosing my frame, testing my vision, to collecting my brand new pair of glasses! I'll definitely be coming back here for my prescription glasses/contact lenses!
It actually saddens me to write this as I made my very first spec at this shop after joining workforce at 2007 and visited them almost yearly. Not sure what had changed over the years but this shop has lost my trust completely and is now on my blacklist. Few years back, they sold me an expensive IC! Berlin frame without informing me of its “lego-type” hinge design. The frame came apart while I was outdoors, leaving me nearly blind on the spot. I had to google online to figure out how to reassemble it myself. This issue happened multiple times until I decided to make a cheap but durable frame and lenses elsewhere. In December last year, I decided to give them another chance thinking that the previous incident might be an isolated case/ miscommunication as I needed progressive lenses due to aging. I paid SGD $700 (not including frame), but the spectacles caused constant eye fatigue and worse, STILL unclear near vision. Despite going back several times, all they did was adjust the frame without solving the problem. After having so much problem with the new specs for 8 months, I went to another optical shop to recheck my eyes and was shocked to find out that the so-called “progressive” lenses I was sold were actually just single-vision HOYA SYNC 3 lenses. I am typing this review on my phone wearing my real progressive lenses with ZERO eye fatigue and CLEAR near vision paying just a bit more over SGD $700.
I pass their shop very often because my office is just next door. But i never thought of getting my glasses from them until i saw an article about them on social media. A lot of good positive reviews and it intrigue me to try, coincidentally it's time for me to change glasses. And it was a very pleasant experience. The optician and the auntie owner were detailed oriented and making sure the work was done carefully. It was my first time seeing there were long queue at an optic shop. But it's understandable because of how they work very carefully. My new glasses are perfect. Thank you. Highly recommended.
