Families considering a nursing home placement typically begin with a care needs assessment covering the senior's mobility, medical conditions, cognitive status, and daily living requirements. It is worth clarifying whether Ling Kwang Home offers nursing care, dementia care, or rehabilitative support, and what the staffing levels and clinical protocols look like day-to-day. Key questions to raise include whether a trial or short-stay period is available before committing to long-term residency, and how the home manages the transition for a new resident arriving from hospital or from home. Regulatory licences are not currently listed for this provider, so families should confirm MOH licensing status directly before proceeding.

Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens (LKHSC) located at 156 Serangoon Garden Way has been around for many years and is well-known in the community. It started with a strong foundation of Christian values, and over time, it has grown into a trusted place that provides care and support for the elderly. The home may not be the newest or flashiest but there’s something very genuine about it. You can tell the staff do their best to care for the residents and the environment is generally peaceful and calm. It’s also heartwarming to see family members visiting regularly, bringing comfort and joy to their loved ones. The location is quite central and accessible, and many long-time residents in the Serangoon area are familiar with the home. It holds a special place in the neighborhood as one of the earlier established eldercare facilities in Singapore. Overall, LKHSC continues to quietly serve with dedication, and it’s nice to see that tradition of care still going strong today.
My late father stayed at Ling Kwang Home for over 10 years until his passing in November 2020. It took me a while to write this review, but I’ve always wanted to express my heartfelt thanks. The nurses at Level 2, Main Block, cared for my father with great attentiveness and compassion. I can't remember their names, but I deeply appreciate their dedication and kindness. Caring for so many elderly residents is no easy task, yet they made a real effort to treat each one with respect and warmth. I’d also like to thank Ms. Adeline Liang, the social worker who patiently assisted me in applying for financial subsidies when I was going through a difficult time. Her support truly made a difference. Ling Kwang Home has been a blessing to our family, and I am sincerely grateful to all the staff who played a part in my father’s care.
My grandmother stayed at Ling Kwang Home for 3 months before she passed, and we are deeply grateful for the care she received. The nurses at level 4 were attentive, compassionate, and truly cared for her well-being, which brought our family great comfort. The social worker was also very supportive and guided us through the entire process with care and understanding.
I really didn’t want to leave a bad review, but after nearly two months of chasing for my late mother’s refundable deposit, I’ve had enough! After my mother’s passing at Ling Kwang Home, I was told by the finance officer, Alvin, that I should receive the refund around end January. Since early January this year, I have followed up multiple times via the contactus mailbox and directly with the finance officer, but there has been no prompt follow-up or resolution. This kind of delay and lack of accountability is unacceptable, especially when dealing with families who have already gone through emotional loss. If they are this slow in processing a simple refund, I really question their efficiency in handling other important matters. Additionally, the nursing home is currently under renovation, which could mean construction noise, temporarily shifting beds out of wards - something to consider if you’re planning to send your elderly loved ones here. There are also things which i do not wish to mention here. For example: If you dig deeper into their 5 star google reviews, it looks sus. Why are these reviewers giving 5 star reviews for multiple nursing homes?! Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends and relatives!!!
Approachable staff. Kind nurses. Clean facilities with hygienic toilets. They make nutritious meals for the residents every day. The place has a positive environment and the residents look happy to be living there. I would recommend Ling Kwang Home for those looking for elderly care.

Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens indicates a mid-range pricing tier ($$), but specific figures are not published. Singapore nursing home fees typically range from around S$1,800 to S$4,500 per month depending on ward type (A, B1, B2, C), care dependency level, and whether the resident is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. On top of the base monthly fee, families should confirm whether physiotherapy, specialist nursing care, incontinence supplies, and transport to medical appointments are included or billed separately. A public holiday surcharge may also apply for agency-supplemented staffing. Medishield Life, ElderShield or CareShield Life, and Medisave can offset nursing home costs for eligible residents, and means-tested government subsidies through MOH can reduce fees substantially for lower-income households. As a nursing home, Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens provides full residential care — this is a live-in arrangement rather than a visit-based or home-care service. Residents live on-site and receive round-the-clock nursing support, meals, personal care, and structured activities as part of the placement. Families should clarify whether a short-stay or respite option is available for seniors who are not yet ready for permanent admission. It is also worth asking about the visiting hours policy, how family involvement in care decisions is managed, and what the process is if a resident's medical needs escalate beyond the home's current capacity. A trial respite stay, where available, can help both the senior and the family assess fit before committing to long-term residency.
Nursing homes in Singapore are required to be licensed by the Ministry of Health (MOH), and clinical staff — including registered nurses and enrolled nurses — must be registered with the Singapore Nursing Board under the Allied Health Professions Act or the Nurses and Midwives Act. Regulatory licences are not currently listed for Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens on this platform, so families should ask the home directly to confirm its MOH licence number and the qualifications of the nursing and care staff on site. For dementia-related care, it is worth asking whether staff hold specific dementia care training (such as the Dementia Singapore certification or equivalent). Insurance coverage for resident incidents should also be confirmed in writing before admission. AIC (Agency for Integrated Care) can provide independent guidance on navigating the nursing home selection process.
