About Lions Home for the Elders

About Lions Home for the Elders

Lions Home for the Elders is a nursing home operating from Bedok South, offering residential eldercare services to families across Singapore. KakiList has verified its operating details and contact channel. It holds a 4.6-star rating across 17 Google reviews — a small sample, so treat this as directional rather than definitive. No regulatory licences or ACRA registration are currently recorded on this listing.

Families typically begin by conducting a care needs assessment — covering the elder's mobility, medical diagnoses, cognitive status, and level of daily personal care required. This shapes whether a nursing home setting is appropriate versus community-based or visit-based care. Key questions to raise with Lions Home for the Elders include the resident-to-staff ratio, medical and nursing oversight, therapy services available on-site, visiting hours, and arrangements for residents with dementia or complex medical needs. Families should involve all key decision-makers early and ask specifically about the trial or settling-in period for new residents.

The immediate next step is to contact Lions Home for the Elders directly by phone or through the enquiry form on their listing to request a care assessment appointment and a centre tour. This will allow the team to assess suitability and provide a full cost breakdown before any commitment is made.

My dad was a resident here at level 4 (high dependency) for a few years. I found most of the staff kind, compassionate, cheerful and supportive. I am very grateful to them for caring for him in his final years.

Clean, well-organized with a dedicated staff, which genuinely cares for its residents. This place has a positive feeling to it. The elders have the opportunity to socialize with each other in the well-ventilated hall, where they can play games or simply chat with each other. All the meals are cooked in house. This place is an excellent option if you want to leave your elderly relatives for a short term stay if you are traveling for work or for any other reason. They provided multiple short- and long-term care options, which really helps take the pressure off families. I would recommend their services.

Very well run nursing home manned by professional and compassionate staff. The building is purpose built as a nursing home hence is well ventilated throughout the wards. All laundry and cooking is done in house. I have taken my mom out on home leave on a few occasions and things are all organized to facilitate the home leave such as medication and diapers supplies. We hv our own wheelchair and the home loaned us a walking frame to enable my mom to walk at times.

seems to be a well run place. my aunt went in after a long hospital stay for a serious bacteria infection. she also has severe dementia. She looks distinctively healthier since she stayed there. there is a large social area for the aged to play games and talk to each other. It is an airy place but there is no aircon which is probably better given covid 19. the nurses are all cheerful looking and helpful.

Definitely feels like home when you step in to this place. The elderly are well taken care of. They are given lots of chance to socialize and do things of their interest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Lions Home for the Elders charge?

Nursing home fees in Singapore vary based on the level of care required, room type (single, twin, or multi-bedded ward), and the resident's citizenship status. Broadly, monthly fees at private and voluntary welfare organisation (VWO) nursing homes range from around S$1,500 for a subsidised ward to S$5,000 or more for a private room. Additional charges to confirm include an admission or assessment fee, incontinence supplies, physiotherapy or occupational therapy sessions, and public holiday surcharges for nursing staff. Subsidised rates are available to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents at MOH-accredited nursing homes, subject to means testing. Lions Home for the Elders has not published its pricing on this listing, so contact the home directly for a full fee schedule. See the full eldercare cost guide for Singapore →

Live-in or visit-based — which does Lions Home for the Elders offer?

Lions Home for the Elders operates as a residential nursing home, meaning care is provided on a full-time live-in basis. This is typically appropriate for elders who require round-the-clock nursing supervision, have complex medical needs, or can no longer be safely supported at home even with part-time caregivers or day-care arrangements. Families considering a nursing home placement should ask about the settling-in period for new residents, visiting hours and overnight stay policies for family members, and what happens if the resident's care needs change significantly after admission — for example, if hospitalisation or palliative care becomes necessary. A trial period arrangement, where available, can help both the resident and family assess fit before a long-term commitment is made.

Is the caregiver trained and insured?

Nursing homes in Singapore that receive MOH subsidies are required to meet staffing and training standards set by the Ministry of Health, including registered and enrolled nurses on duty and care staff with relevant eldercare qualifications. Nursing homes may also have on-site physiotherapists and occupational therapists for residents who require rehabilitation support. However, no regulatory licences are currently recorded on this listing for Lions Home for the Elders. Before proceeding, families should ask directly whether the home holds a valid MOH nursing home licence, confirm the nursing staff-to-resident ratio, clarify whether staff are trained in dementia care if relevant, and ask about insurance coverage for residents in the event of a fall or clinical incident.
